Because it's shit like the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (from Phil Gramm, former economic advisor to McCain's camp) that got us into this mess (rich white people) who want less regulation for more quick/easy money. People like Bush ARE the reason we are fucked. Shit's getting better now because interest rates are returning to normal and spending power is beginning to level so there is a light, no thanks to conservatives (teabaggers) who do nothing but squabble and waste time like children.

Actually, the GLB Act had very little to do with the current state of the economy. In fact, both parties supported it b/c it allowed banks to get into banking investments. What DID cause the problem was the lack of oversight by the SEC and cheap money (due to low interest rates). If you want to blamce the Republicans for anything, blame them for killing the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, which would have put the breaks on the subprime mess.
