Issues in the Teaching of Hinduism in American K-12 Schools

hinduism is not a religion in terms of religious point of view.According to hindus; religion is manmade and the word hindu is not indian;and neither is the word india. Its o.k to be a hindu and celebrate/worship other religions or gods. However there are distinctions amoung people in terms of caste (evolution of a soul) of one. Old world religion to be perfect which has stood the test of time and persecution from allmost all the dominant religions today.

Living in California, I admit it seems that most people care only about Minority rights in race and that they seem to care little on religion, trying to keep religion separate form schools as much as possible. And, having lived in Texas also, I find that there they truly do parade around their Christianity and treat all other religions like simple Barbarism. I'm glad to see that people are standing up to this, Hinduism is a peaceful and respectable religion and should be treated as such!

In my school, they were teaching about the hindu caste system and that saints can only be brahmins and that only brahmins go to heaven. I took notes from the scriptures at home and showed them to my teacher that she is wrong and also gave information about true Hinduism.
