@MsThebeastmaster Velcro and 36k Satellites. Every single thing you do that involves geo-synchronous satellites comes from that 8 bucks, and that's steady income money. Your distrust of that statistic is sad, but probably politically driven. Space exploration had endlessly and provably forced so much familiar technology that it's not even funny.

@Quixoticah I think Arthur Clarke is to thank for geo-synchronous orbits. But in any case just b/c NASA developed certain technologies does not mean someone else wouldn't have if NASA didn't exist. I think space exploration is damn cool but I don't think it needs to be done by the Government.

Why is it sad that I am skeptical of a statistic that was stated without any data to back it up? Should I just trust and not question? What kind of skeptic or scientific thinker would do that?
