haha its very funny how lagbaja is faceless but based on what people have said , they say he is VERY VERY HANDSOME lol .. makes the mystery man tres sexy :)
this is such an amzing music!! unlike all the brutal beats we know these days aka lady gaga - sorry if u'r her fans. Can somebody tell me who is this girl? she is perfect! I want some more of her voice.
The ideal with the mask is brilliant. In the Yoruba - that's the name of the Nigerian tribe Lagbaja belongs to - it means nobody, everybody, anyone and everything. Is it not brilliant?
@eimmul she's done singin now, thatz the last of their work together, more like a farewell song coz she got married to a dick who wont let her pursue her dream
I couldn't think of a more befitting send-off for Ego. Wishing her goodluck in her musical career as she goes solo. And thanks Lagbaja for bringing out and nurturing her innate talents and the maturity you displayed in letting her move on without any rancour. Good example for other Nigerian artists who often break up fighting.
This video is pan-african, culturally significant in a nation where p-square and the american wannabe sycophants are ruining the lasting remnants of our indigenous culture.
@nubianz05 Right on! Want to guess where that false light will lead Nigerians? Watch 'Beyond Beats and Rhymes' by Byron Hurt and in particular Chuck D's observations in the last part of the film. Lagbaja is rowing against that tide of drum machine driven vapidity. But it's not only Nigeria which is inundated with American wannabees since even (DRC) Congo soukous music has been contaminated. Lagbaja draws upon Yoruba musical tradition, as did Fela Ransome Kuti and King Sunny Adé before him. Peace
this brother is up there with the best. I kid u not. It will be sweet to have african acts get the recognition they deserve. the girl could have used a lil voice coaching. her voice though not there still did not ruin the talent of the brother coming thru.
Why the mask? What a question, its his signature all artist have that. Ah I remember this song i saw it once on African magic Who's the female singer, love her voice
her name is ego, unfortunately she's no longer in the band, she went solo. and the mask, according to him he uses it as an icon for man's facelessness- symbolizing the anonymity of the faceless and the voiceless in aafrican society.
@chantal215 whats wrong with a white girl explaining something like this? after all some Africans know European history, culture and music more than Europeans.
His stage name- Lagbaja is a Yoruba word for anonymous so I guess his mask is meant to fulfil the role of the nameless one in his culture; hence the common man.
This is great. How many Nigeria musicians no dey afraid to show our local "Abas" , with the rusty roofs, for dem Vids? Lagbaja's music does indeed represent the common man, and apart for that, the guy is a musical (harmonic) genius. Hats off to Lagbaja and his crew. My respect forever.
I really didn't know Lagbaja was this soji. i thought he was one of those ancient nigerians that didnt know anything about violins and stuff like that.
Once again sublime songs and the video tells the whole story. The way Lagbaja has interwoven traditional African instruments with the string orchestra and used so many images, shows instinct and a deep understanding this guy is gifted no question about it!
