The F-150 out-performs the Chevy is this demonstration because the F-150's frame and suspension systems are much stronger and better designed. For example, Chevy still chooses to mount thier rear shocks inboard of the frame and use narrow leafsprings, something they really haven't cared to redesign for as long as I remember (look at the rear suspension of a 1980s Silverado. It's not much different to today's Silverado).

@schnittz He's turning the wheel because the Silverado cannot stay straight. The F-150 out-handles the Silverado in these situations because the Ford's frame and suspension are much stronger. It also demonstrates that mounting the rear shocks in-board of the frame (Chevy) is very outdated and is not the best configuration for vehicle handling situations. F-150 mounts their rear shocks outboard of the frame and thus handles better than the Chevy.

It appears to me that the Silverados frame had alot less twisting than the ford. Ford is obviously using a debaged 4x4 and the chevy looks like a 2wd(because of the smaller diameter tires). Put it up against the z71 and see what happens.
IDK what ford is trying to prove with vids like this because both look identical to me and at times it seems as though the f150 suspension is alot stiffer than the silverado making it ride even rougher. what people fail to realize is that the silverado has also surpassed the competition with the release of its 404hp/417lbs/tq 6.2L monster. thats equal in price to fords 5.4L with only 320hp :)

I think the point of the demonstration was to show how more stable and planted the Ford was compared to the Chevy. The underlying theme is to question why Chevy still insists to equip inboard, rather than outboared-mounted, rear shocks, and to emphasize that their "all new" design in 2007 was really carry-over technology from the 1999 model. But it has to be said that both Ford and Chevy guys will see the demonstration differently.
I know the point of the demstration was to show stablility over terrain such as this and/or over all stablilty but my point was that even with both of these trucks side by side the difference if any isn't very obvious at all which would leave one to think they are both equal
Ford acknowledges it's truck flexes under these conditions. I like both trucks equally, but have to say that Ford has an advantage here, even if it's slight.
i own an 04 z71 i can't afford the insurance on an 09' I live in louisiana and from what i hear we have the highest auto insurance. im 21yo never been in a wreck or never had a speeding ticket and my full coverage insurance on my truck is 250$/month. when i bought the truck 2 years ago my insurance was 375$/month. i price the insurance on an 09 with the 6.2 and it was over 400$/month

However, The 2009 Fullsize 4x4 Truck Owners proves the Silverado to, on average surpass the f-150 by 76,000 miles on original equipment. Dodge ram came in third. Japanese vehicles have a much longer life expectancy than American made vehicles. The smaller Japanese trucks such as the Tacoma and Frontier are also fine work trucks, but not the kind of work you would use a 150-350 or 1500-3500.

Ford's $16 million is still much less money than GM and Chrysler needed (i.e. they needed billions). and while ford is a smaller company, they're selling a ton of cars. for example, the ford focus was the third best-selling car during the cash for clunkers program. Ford is outselling Chrysler substantially, and they're not far behind GM. Why? because they're building excellent vehicles that even beat japanese vehicles in reliability tests.

Even though the Silverado has better towing capabilities with their 6.0 liter engine vs Fords 5.4 liter engine in the F-150, I will take the F-150 any day. The F-150 is a far better looking truck, ford builds vehicles way better than Chevy, Ford even beats chevy in reliability whether is in the year 1996, 2003, and in a few years we will see Ford still beating Chevy in reliability for this year.

It appears to me that the Silverados frame had alot less twisting than the ford. Ford is obviously using a debaged 4x4 and the chevy looks like a 2wd(because of the smaller diameter tires). Put it up against the z71 and see what happens.

I think the point of the demonstration was to show how more stable and planted the Ford was compared to the Chevy. The underlying theme is to question why Chevy still insists to equip inboard, rather than outboared-mounted, rear shocks, and to emphasize that their "all new" design in 2007 was really carry-over technology from the 1999 model. But it has to be said that both Ford and Chevy guys will see the demonstration differently.

You are only partially correct. There are more f150's on the road than Silverado's. However, The 2009 Fullsize 4x4 Truck Owners proves the Silverado to, on average surpass the f-150 by 76,000 miles on original equipment. Dodge ram came in third. I know, I know, it's hard to argue with facts... Please, go read a book. Edmunds actually put Ford as #4 out of 4 tested. Chevy being #3, Toyota #2, and Dodge #1 for capability. Looks to me like the Chevy did the best as far as the lack of bed wobble goes. Then again, the most stiff frame doesn't mean the most superior one. Boxed frames are best for going offroad while "C" frames are best for payload (hence the reason Semi trailors are "C" frame designed).
