When I was a baby when I heard this song woke me up instantly. I wonder now when parents tell how I look in your TV screen without understanding anything. It's a beautiful song that reaches your soul me.

Ah, this theme takes me back. Half days at kindergarten, the other half home with my mum. She would be rapt on the television as soon as this theme came on. I once chose this moment to steal a sip of her coffee...And promptly spit it out. Didn't taste nearly as good as I thought would.

@christipool Hard to do nowadays. With the economy the way it is, companies don't have the dollars to sponsor shows that have negative ratings. And with the shows on in the early afternoon when most folks are working, it's getting harder to keep a strong audience.

Agree Scoot1105 to a certain extent. But the main reason why these soaps are getting "harder to keep a strong audience" the way I see it is, when you have new young writters screwing up the show's history with stupid unrealistic storylines, your vetran actors getting less airtime, writting out or worst killing off your vetran characters, turning a beloved character into a villian or murder, focusing only on dumbass teen storylines, that is a much faster way to loose your core audience IMO.

The drawing intros were the best.  Now the show is totally different with crappy writers changing things from day to day. They need to play more on Jack and Victor and less on the crappy rest.

This open and YR logo was designed by artist Sandy Dvore - Google him, it's amazing how many TV & movie opens he did. At 75 he's still a great artist.

This is when I first started watching the young and the restless. It was always a must watch type of show. I'm glad they kept the same music. It would seem strange if they changed it now.

Thanks! After second glance at who I thought was Katherine I see it's Carol now lol. I knew she(and sometimes Skip!) was in the openings of the later 80s and early 90s but never realized she was in the pencil drawing opening.

I don't watch soap operas, but if there is one I remember most and like most for its opening song, it's The Young and the Restless. Especially this classic opening. Good video post!

You should have watched this one, lol!!! Y&R was the show to watch back in the day, especially through out the 80's and 90's decade. Y&R had better plots twist than most daytime & primetime shows during its heyday. RIP Bill Bell.

You are right! the 80's were the best. If you stayed home during the day, there were no other things to watch on tv except soaps, children shows and old westerns. No cable tv, internet, playstation, etc. You looked forward to watching them, plus they were so melodramatic. I miss soaps of the 80's from their theme songs, soap opera diction, to their over the top acting.
