Correct. There is a monthly fee. If you have SOE's Station Pass, there will be no additional monthly fee but you still need topurchase the game.

what u mean station pass? cause i bought the game when it first came out, and i checked 4 months ago, and still had time on my account, is this because i have unlimited?

They upgraded the game launching software to use the SOE station client. That client also runs a bunch of other games that you can play if you buy one of their subscription accounts. You can look up the details on the download page of the game

just wondering, if ur a pirate and u take a ship a higher lvl than urs (aka ur like lvl 10 and u take a lvl 20 ship) can u use that ship or no?
