300 BPM fastest downpicking ever?

I put on the metronome at around 270 BPM, and sped it up gradually, with short bursts of downpicking at a time. Keep increasing the speed and don't be afraid to feel some pain in the beginning. It's basically like resistance training only on the guitar. Once you get the technique down right it becomes like riding a bike.

judging from the tone and character of attack, at least for the palm muted parts, it sounds downpicked. There's a type of force you can hear in pick attack that is distinctly downpicking. The fast open parts sounded tremolo picked however.

The speed is impressive, I guess, but that's really about it... you're not digging in much and it just sounds like alternate, so playing this with downpicking is ridiculously inefficient and a waste of time basically, since you're not even getting the effect generated by heavy, aggressive downpicking.
