  • Great movie !!

but why wasn't it cut into YouTube size chunks at the more natural scene breaks? This way tends to interfere with the movie's natural mood

  • they look really tired!!

  • that look really tired!!

  • its a good movie, but i dont think its my style so i will skip it. looks good for those that like this genra/style of anime.

  • I just stumbled upon this film here. So far I like what I found. Thanks for uploading this marinersfanfromny! :) I do happen to enjoy anime classics.

  • Did this movie inspire Silent Hill? and if so what is the significance of the jar and water? It seems to be the prime necessity so far.

  • VERY IMPORTANT, I am currently collecting emails and messages to send to Criterion in an effort to get a release of this film. Everyone, please contact me as soon as possible to support this wonderous film. SIncerly, Angel's Egg Coalition.

  • And yet people today watch Naruto and Bleach.

  • @CandieCane100 C'mon, there's fun stuff and there's proper art, and both have their merits.

  • @KendrixTermina I know lol :) it was only a joke, I have nothing against those animes.

  • @CandieCane100 Sorry. It's just that some of these pedantic ppl (It's good to know you're not amongst them) get on my nerves...

  • I'm not quite following the storyline here. xD

  • @muSicAddicT242 As far as I could tell, the girl symbolizes innocence in a dark world...I could be wrong though

  • i love the atmosphere

  • @RichiBitch

    yeah me too

  • So those lobster-mobiles are tanks, then?

  • If you support this movie, vote it up past 8.0 on IMDB. More exposure will hopefully result in an eventual Blu-Ray release.

  • Ooohh!

    There did my acid go!

  • sorry i tried, but i dont understand the meaning of this film... what does this film want to tell? excuse my bad english.....

  • @oOLeetahOo

the woman protects new life... even if she doesnt understand it

nature works through woman beyond their control

crumbling patriarchial society with its gothic like architecture seems automatic running on its own and abandoned

    what meaning do you see?

  • 's okay, not everyone has to find or look for a meaning in everything. Personally I never look for one, but if I see one by chance, then that works just as well. Don't let people give you crap if you don't see something.

  • @Uraili Thanks, I agree whole-heartedly.

  • I just thought about Beyond Birthday when she was eating that jam...

  • Those are the weirdest looking tank i have ever seen.

  • 懐かしい! こんな古いアニメもアップされてるんですねー。

    この作品、小さい頃見た時は意味がよくわからなかったけど、

    なぜかすごく記憶の片隅にずっと残ってたんですよね・・・。

    主さんありがとう!

  • What is 20 minutes in a life?! go kill yourself.

    You don't like? Don't watch

  • I'm confused. If you don't like it then why are you still WATCHING it?

I mean at least hold back your opinions until you've seen the whole thing.

  • let me guess u like naruto..

  • the music remids me of x

  • who is the artist?

The art reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano, the guy who did early final fantasy art and castlevania art as well

  • It is. :3

  • it is him

  • awesome~

  • @SwtMsT Dude, it's him. He did the artwork for this movie.

  • ... I don't really understand why the clock struck 14. It's beautifully done, though. I've never seen this before and I'm entranced.

  • wow...this is what ive been looking for forever. thank you too much for uploading this....wow.....thank you

  • Could her pouring the "red" liquid out of the bottle be symbolic of her first period maybe? This whole thing seems to have a little girl growing into a woman vibe, or am I looking too much much into that! :S

  • Its marmelade or something like that.

When the man apears you could see that she must be younger than a gir in the age in wich she gets the period, because shes smaller

  • why do the eating sounds in movies sound like someones sticking their hands into a jar of mayo

  • @stirringwater lol this was my other account i've been watching this movie for 2 years now wow.. how time flys by and i still don't quite get this movie but then again its what keeps me watchin it over and over

  • amazing film

lk one of the best anime's iv seen =]

    xxxxx

  • hmm, mr Oshii seems to have a fondness for military tech, especially towards the german invetions. This is especially evident in the movie beautiful dreamer, alas even here the flesh-tanks, set in the scenery of a typical european town from the 1930-1940 era, resemble a lot of the descriptions i have heard of the german tanks rolling throw occupied territory with their typical "metal shrieking" accomodating them.

  • Wow this movie is jaw-dropping. The world is in one word: amazing. Although the story seems to move a little too slowly...

  • i dont quite get this movie..

  • she's attracted to shiny glass objects...

  • damn... still 'wtf-ing' but the animation is amazing for its time, and the surrealism is off the charts

the fact that im still sitting here probably means its interesting too

  • this movie was one of the first "progressive anime" movie and helped inspire many others in the genre.

  • never heard of this film, and I'm falling inlove with when did this come out?

Beatufil movie, some reason it reminds me of some of the last unicorn :D I guess the styling here :D

  • It came out in 1985.

  • @marinersfanfromny Damn, three years before I was born.

  • @errantseed YES! I thought the exact same thing! Although - it pains me to admit this, but I think this is even more beautiful...

  • @errantseed

same here even though you won't read it though

  • interesting...

  • This particular part randomly reminds me of the Relient K song Deathbed.

"You cried wolf, the tears they soaked your fur, the blood dripped from your fangs, you cried "what have I done?" You loved that lamb, with every sinful thought, and there you wept alone."

  • I plan on doing the whole movie. Im having fun doing the whole thing. Just wanted to share this beautiful movie.
