hmm, mr Oshii seems to have a fondness for military tech, especially towards the german invetions. This is especially evident in the movie beautiful dreamer, alas even here the flesh-tanks, set in the scenery of a typical european town from the 1930-1940 era, resemble a lot of the descriptions i have heard of the german tanks rolling throw occupied territory with their typical "metal shrieking" accomodating them.
