As a bus driver, you caught my attention when you said the bus was too close to the train track so I had to look. Your video is shot at an angle that makes the bus appear to be too close. If you look at the front wheels of the bus, they are behind the white line which is approximately 10 to 15 feet away from the bar. The driver opened his door and I believe I can hear the parking brake activate. This was a textbook stop by the driver.
@modeysdad Well, they put it in reverse & then relized they were behind the line but, barely. It is legal what this bus driver did but, most bus drivers will stay farther behind the line for increaed safety incase of derailments or being rear ended. Even though the white line was there the gate is alomst over the line & makes for close clearences. The main focus I had in the video was on the train but, you are right
@metraF40PH163 I'm glad to hear they backed up when they crossed the white line. I can only speak for me and the drivers I work with. We pull up to the line every time. Any further back and we can't see around the buildings and obstructions near the track. I can't speak for other states but in my state there is a specific number of feet between the bar and the line. If I remember it right it is 15ft. A coworker of mine is a 30+ year railroad retiree. We talk about trains at work a lot. :)
@hshea1999 Ok first thing, this video is ment for rail buffs & railfans. Why did you watch it if you don't like trains? It is slow because of the track speed. How is it annoying? It's just doing it's job. Really your comment was very pointless if you don't like train then don't watch a video about trains!
@ 1:38 is kinda nerving that the gate wasn't actived by then. Ussually railroads try to have it active at least quarter mile back from the crossing... It didn't look like it started til he was almost 20 feet from it. So I can see how the moron, albeait you kinda notice big green blocks moving with horns blaring and he still shoulda stopped, was able to gun the crossing if the gate had not actived early enough.
@celixdog04 Yeah, they activate from a good ditance but, they stopped on the crossing circuit by the crew office that's why the took so long to activate. The top speed is like 15MPH on this branch line
@metraF40PH163 Ahh... sounds kinda like the UP Local line in my town; The still use the old rails from the Chicago & Northwestern and thus run about 10-15 rocking slowly by.
Cool vid
