  • Absoluetly brilliant story with nice storytelling and characters.

    The music ist awesome too.

Also I liked to "get a better ball" combat system which in our time is very "old".

But the game is too so nostalgic and nice. Its a bit childish too but thats good!

I remember it was one of my first adventure games and i believe it was the second best game in my whole life after FF7. The only thing i can say is give it a try. You will remember it like FF7. Forever.

  • For me, this will always be the best game I ever played. It was just perfect. First played it when I was 13 when it was new I know where everything is but I still can play it over and over again:).

  • I must agree, such a fascinating world. The game brings back wonderful memories.

  • One of the greatest games ever! Excellent atmosphere, music, gameplay, story etc!

  • can anyone tell me where i can buy/download this game from?

  • Brings back good memories :)

  • This was one of the first games I ever played, and it was on a hoary old Windows 89. I don't know why the game was there, it just was there originally as I can remember. I can recall it as a great game, albeit a bit difficult being so young that I was at the time.

Reminiscing about the ridiculously cheesy names is fun, though. Dr. FunFrock - a name truly befitting an antagonist!

  • well i downloaded it yesterday, and will start to play today the first time i saw this game i was 4 and well memories... besides when i started to download it i was trying to find a way to use this DOSBox thing but i download this LBAWin thing and i just run it and thats all. pretty easy since i was breaking my head tomake it run in dosbox in a vista Laptod

  • A classic!

  • Brings back so many memories, i miss the old days

  • i was getting an old pc game not an old pc :) haha

  • This game just popped into my head and I had to feed my memories. Thanks for posting this. Such a cool game, sequel was amazing too. I remember that bar underground in the first one that was like a Speakeasy type place where the bad guys didn't wanna fight because they were just relaxing.

Along with Oddworld and Monkey Island this is one of my favs.

  • dude.... i was just thinking of the games i had played in the past on pc cause i was thinking of getting an old pc game to play for a bit... and i played both this and all of the monkey islands haha

  • You don't need an old PC. Google "dosbox" :)

  • This was a classic! I remember olaying this with my dad when I was six! Actually just lba 2, but still both one of the best games of all time.

  • I mean playing*

  • godfather of all adventures :) i finnish playing this today in french it's also good to lear a foreign language by a good enjoyable way :)

  • One of the best games in the world, it's a masterpiece, it's so joyous and incredible.. I just.. It's gold.. nothing has ever come close.

  • You are so right! i agree with you!

  • 100% i loved it as a kid, and i love it now too

  • It's remarkable but unsurprising to see how much of a positive impact this game had on so many people. This was one of the first games I ever played (I was 10!), and it was a completely magical experience. I was immersed in the story, impressed with the graphics, and often found myself lost in the music--listening to the opening theme song still has an emotional effect on me. And who doesn't remember how awesome it was the first time you did the athletic attack with the sabre? Ahhh memories.....

  • Is it just the fact that I played these 2 games when I was younger that made them so magical? I think it may be the nostalgia from when I was young and impressionable, but I swear games just aren't made the same these days. Someone said to me last week that they didn't play LBA1/2 until a couple of years ago when they were 18 and yet it still had the same impact? it's odd...

  • i don't think it really matters if you are an retro gamer or just an regular gamer in this case , because this game is really easy to get into and the graphics must have been impressive back then in 1994 not that it really matters nowdays but you know.

  • I had only played a demo of the sequell when i was only about 10 years old and i was really eager to play the whole game but saddly i couldnt find it in any store because it had been 6 years since it was realeased so i haven't been able to play it before now thanks to the internet. I can tell you that it really feels retro when playing this game and i love it. even thought the temple is very frustrating. I recommend this game to anyone who likes adventuers games cause you won't be disappointed.

  • anyone no how i can get this for the ps

  • try ebay...that's where i got mine!! Saves all the hastle of downloading a patch to the pc.

  • geeze it was annoying switching back n forth from sporty to discreet to whatever

  • JEEZ!!! I cannot explain how magical this game was to me back in the 90ths...

Seeing it again, brings me so much good memories!! Tanx for posting

  • OMG!!! Childhood memories!!!

  • This was fun, I never beat it though, got stuck somewhere and gave up, still have it in my basement somewhere I think.

  • LBA1 was a lot more difficult than 2. Worth digging out. One of my favourite games of all time. Any idea where you got stuck?

  • Well, there's a patch to make it work in XP, and of course you have the wonderful DOSBox to use now to make DOS playing easier now than originally!

  • i loved this game! the minimal use of the superb music and the strange, somehow "clean" atmosphere. i remember as a kid i was afraid of this elephant-dudes that appear when they hit the alarm button :D

  • That was the best game ever. I spend hours, month, years when I was younger and I played that game a lot. Just LOVE IT ! The music, the graphic, whole game <3. Wish to continue the odyssey of twinsen :) :) :) !

  • I remember 15 years old me playing LBA on my 14" monochrome, no sound card PC. That was truly one in the million perfect game.

I didn`t like the LBA2 so much, but it was still great.

  • @cygikrk wrong

LBA2 was the best ever :)

  • @Sevival I still prefer LBA 1 to LBA 2 ; P

  • @Kleshar90

Really? I think both of them are just as good. Maybe, just maybe, the first one had a little more engaging story. But on the other hand it had the frustrating run-into-wall-and-take-a-hit mechanic.

  • @Gudheinz I think that in the first LBA storyline, settings and characters were more serious and beautiful in my opinion. LBA2's style was too much cartoony; I also think that the alien races of the other planet are too strange and goofy... I was not able to take seriously the plot in some parts of the game . Even the CGIs' quality are far inferior in LBA2 if compared to the first one. By the way, Remember: this is just my opinion XD

  • I only ever played the demo. Im downloading It For My PSP ;)

  • I never understood the point of this game... huh. I'm getting my PSone back and hopefully now I will.

  • hahaha, i always had the same problem, but this vid reminded me that i still have my full version cd somewhere. that gonna keep me away from my lessons for a while :D

  • imba

  • One of the few demos I played that made me want to buy the full game. Loved every minute of it & managed to complete it a few months later. Never managed to complete LBA2, though.

  • makes me wish i was a little kid again :)

  • READ THE COMMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU REPLY:

lol i read an article of this in a gaming magazine and it talked about little big planet and this having the same name. Wow how much of a coincidence is it?

  • sweet memories

  • good graphic

    for 1994

  • summer of 1995, aah memories... :)

  • Look's like a good game.

  • I really loved the city part of the game.

Unfortunately the game's major part only consisted of jump'n'running through mindlessly boring "dungeons".

The dungeons had no people to interact with and thus felt awfully dead in comparison to the detailed sprawling city.

The dungeons were cleverly designed, though...but they just weren't what I wanted to play. Never finished it.

  • So...yeah, apparently I am an idiot!

I just watched an entire video-walkthrough of LBA and it seems like there is only a single dungeon (called Temple of Bu), which also is rather small.

I guess I got stuck in there and as I had no idea of its actual size I was demoralized by the thought of running through a dungeon for the rest of the game.

Kinda painful to see what I missed out on.

    An exceptional game...Then and now.

  • i remember reading in a gaming magazine the preview for this game and it said a 486 computer is recommended. i nearly cried cause i only had an 386 and was forced to upgrade :)

the sequel is awesome as well.

  • I love this game! I still remember the part where he kissed that girl, the Elephant's girlfriend I believe. It was the best thing that I have seen in my life!

  • i never forgot the beautiful soundtrack...

and now, seeing this video , it reminds me how good that game was... graphics and animations are great...

    loved that game... *crying*

  • i agree with the comments here. brings a lot of memories. :)

  • Twinsen looks drunk when in aggressive mode :)

  • Does the PS1 have improved sound and music? I can tell that the music in the PC version uses MIDI to produce the music in the game, but what about the PS1? Is it just a MIDI converted into PCM or is the music converted and improved into Redbook or PCM?

  • I can say yes, I remembered in the PS1 version, all the characters have voice acting, I mean ALL!!!

  • Yeah, but some of the voice acting is amateurish.

Cute soundtrack on the second game! :D

The second is one of the greatest games ever!

  • Lot of memories!

  • brings back a ton of memories i loved this game so much im still looking for it on the internet to buy it once again as well as number 2

  • :D I love this game!!

It was one of the 1st games i ever played on the PC...

  • me too!!

  • Wow i played first time this game a long time ago. I get it, by buying a printer. Yeah! :P

Love it and still love to play, but mine don't work with XP or vista ;_;.

  • Same thing happened with my XP, but I use DOSbox and it runs perfectly. Why don't you try it?

  • i've try it but don't know what happens that i c the intro of the game and then, the game reset itself again to WinXp menu,so i can't start playing ;_;. Dunnow what to do.

  • Hmmmm... Never came up with me....

    The only other solution I know is going through DOSBox step by step with CuteFloor's solution FAQ on his channel, give it a go :}
