@cecil1knight : easy... first snap the vertexes of the ear opening to the head's opening using point snap and then combine the two meshes and then perform the merge vertex. Hope it makes sense :)

What too did you use to attach the ear? If I try to merge vertex, it won't work with two separate polygons.
