Its not about luke fighting a man bigger than him. Its about the common man fighting the battles in life and getting back up. Each knock down is harder for him to get back up but he does it anyway. You have to have drive and a willingness to want to succede. Luke wasnt fighting him he was fighting LIFE.

@dreamkasts Exactly! When I was going through a depression a little while back, I must have watched this scene about a thousand times. It gave me strength. I saw him get back up and keep fighting this opponent that seemed so much bigger and stronger than him, and it made me want to get back up and keep fighting. Dragline IS life. It'll knock you down, but the only thing that can really keep you down is yourself.

@RichardElden I tend to disagree with you, Newman had all the right moves down to the smiles. He was by far a better dramatic actor, McQueen was good but as a smart ass, both were great actors but Newman was Oscar worthy everytime he stepped inside the camera. If these two would have been weight classed, George Kennedy would have been an overweight heavyweight. Newman would have been more like a light middleweight. I say that because, while on a small frame, he was of average height.
