A good comedy theather. Two actors of premium value. Roshi scares in harsh tones and I am amused by sincerity of a visiting Buddha himself, I mean a deciple. These koan are nesessary to enter higher states of awareness. But to see and hear, naturally and in easy manner, completly relaxed in not knowing is the door to solve this koan. Ways to express true self are endless. Being in place of a monk I would bring a sword and cutt off Roshi's hands. He cannot use his hands to strike as a hint.

I am sorry, my English is not good enough. The Roshi in this joke lived more than a year in ZEN-monastery in Japan. .

It is only a joke, because ZEN can laugh at itself.

Hi Kajottel, es wäre schön eine Reihe solcherart "erleuchteter Virals" mit Dir zu produzieren. (Werbung !) Dieser Clip geht genau in die Richtung die mir vorschwebt., mehr davon wäre schön ! Rein technisch gesehen könnte man von diesem Original ein Remake herstellen wollen ... aber das ist jetzt keine Kritik an diesem "Perfekt-So-Wie-Er-Ist-Clip".

i've come to feel that my understanding of a koan is complete when the answer/response involves making the master/teacher look like a fool in a warm-hearted way. when asked this koan, what is the sound of one hand, i interrupted him/her by slapping her/him rather hard in the face. there was no guilt or fear that i'd done wrong, but instead a distinct feeling of understanding and wisdom expressed with unyielding confidence as a very composed and complete piece of knowledge.

Ha, Zen comedy. Actually Hakuin's koan is "What is the sound of one hand?" The common mistake adds the word "clapping" which isn't part of the koan's question.

Der Budhismus ist keine Religion, eher eine Phiosphie, die am Ende wie auch der N-sozialismus, die Vervollkommnung des Menschen anstrebt, "der Mensch ist der werdenede Gott", A Hitler.
