  • I started feeding the dogs and cats in the neighborhood. That way, I know just how fat and juicy they are and my food supplies comes right to my door to be fattened! Why supply, what others will provide! Here, kitty, kitty, kitty...

  • Half those things have to be boiled, or cooked on heat, if there's no electricity and water, you might be screwed with those foods, good idea to get a propane stove and water.

  • This is great work. But you forgot the zombie Attack :P

  • NO UR NOT CRAZY!!!!!! i like the ideas of the food insurance. i myself have 2 kids and a spouse to store food 4 it is not easy seems more like a job but im glad to do it. i very much agree with u.. good vid i would like to see more

  • Wow 2009 how long ago, I wasnt thinking about this stuff at all even after Katrina. Not many people think about this at least here in NY everybody is a friggin zombie. Even my own family. I don't have any kids yet. You are a great man my friend looking after your family. hopefully you stock has grown mine has.

  • This video is very much appreciated I don't have a wife or kids but like u I could not imagine seeing my family hungry in a time of crisis. God bless u and ur family

  • Common sense pays off in the long term.

  • better try with solar yoga or sungazing and follow this name Hira Ratan Manek

  • This is adorable.

  • Kudos to you for taking action. Protect your family! It doesn't take a huge disaster to want 3 months of food in the house.

    Cheers

  • He forgot to list "Zombie apocalypse".. That's the real and only catastrophe I'm concerned about..

  • Allways prepared

  • its necessary to do and you are not crazy...in this time of bad banks bad politicians and bad policy...

  • no, your not crazy...

  • God bless you and your family!

  • Make sure to protect your food from weevil infestation, destroying everything you'll need to feed your family in a TEOWAWKI scenario, that you put dry food items (beans, rice, flour, sugar, etc) in the freezer for 72 hours. When you get it out of the freezer, put items in air tight, sealed containers with a bay leaf or two (depending on the size of your storage container). More info can be found online on weevils if you want to research it. ehow.com is a good resource.

  • um .. i think everybody has that normally in their house.. your going to have to do a little better than that if your trying to make a prepper video!

  • Well i look at the world around us and i think things are getting FAR FAR worse now i think i will stook up food aswell here in germany this world is done anyway.

  • Wrong, Paul. Food is important, but not as important as water. You can live for weeks without food. No water, and you're dead in a few days. And how are you going to consume that big bag of pinto beans without it? And, BTW, you are not crazy: you are sensible.

  • awesome idea bro

  • You are so realistic... Greetings from Europe.

  • Good job

  • you are not crazy sound very informed GREAT VIDEO!

  • This will protect my family from plaque? Who knew lol...thanks for the vid, just messin with you

  • Another grain which is easy to use is hard red or white wheat.

  • "everyone's kids are my kids" I love you man. If more people had such a loving and rational perception of reality we would have a free and safe world. It's nice to be reminded that we still have a lot of wonderful people in this world. Thanks man.

  • Great video. If you do not have any firearms I recommend at least having one with a reasonable amount of ammunition to defend yourself and your family in the event your food supply is in threat of others trying to take it from you.

  • u should get some ramen very good and last long and easy to cook. also very cheap. also very nice vid thank you alot u are right. be prepared also i c ur wife i think in back round w/ picture frame on right. lol once again nice vid. thanks

  • u should get some ramen very good and last long and easy to cook. also very cheap.

  • hey paul.......looks like inflation is gearing up now. i have been preparing too for the last year. now i am buying silver. good luck to you.

  • wow.... how different people act in different country .....

  • jean shorts

  • @indianfury711 Haha...Jorts!

  • I've ben watching a few of these videos and some people say buy foods that you will eat, not just out of desperation. Would Nutella (better more nutricious sorry about sp. peanut butter) rice and lots of it cause I like it, and canned tuna among other things but would that be good food to start with?

Another thing I was told is hat corn is a poor stock up vegtable because it is relatively low in nutrients compared to say green beans.

Good video, you are clear and informative.

  • @fanfictionfun89 Look at my channel if gourmet entrees, breakfast, drinks that last 15+ years interest you that you can get for low as 67 cents a serving/cup.

  • Don't forget to garden, can what you grow, get feminine products for any women you love, first aid, and think of canned goods as mid term not long term foods. Think of freeze dried or dehydrated foods as long term. 15-50 years shelf life on some of these products.Buy fruits and veggies on sale and dry them yourself,or do what I do and go to 4longevity.myefoods.com, save up for the big pkg. and pay as little as $.91 a serving.

  • i'm very excited when i watch this video.

I was prepared my food storage, hope to watch more video like yours and make my food starage more complete.

  • You are so right to plan in advance. Ive been in several emergency situations, like hurricanes, and within my own home as severeal people experience a shortage of funds. So I think its is very important to prepare for the unknown! You dont have to panic if your prepared before the disaster.

  • Every time I go grocery shopping I buy a little bit of extra food..I now have about four sea bags of extra can goods and other stuff...I put my emergency food in sea bags just in case I have to leave in a hurry...I can grab just about all my emergency stuff in four trips to my apartment.

  • i love hoarding weapons and survival supplies, FTW !

  • Hi there, you come across as a totally awesome guy, great husband, father, and friend. I was wondering if you repackage any of your foods, such as the beans, rice, and sugar you get from walmart? Also, don't forget about stocking up on medications.

  • Awesome video! Thanks for sharing this, good luck brother.

  • Don't forget to store water. And when the water storage runs out, don't forget there is water in the hot water tank that can be drained.

  • I would recommend adding some spices to your supplies. Once you get down to just having those pinto beans beans left your going to want to be able to change the taste a bit.

  • You are not crazy. You are a survivor-thank you for sharing this.

  • I have food stored and people say I'm crazy. On reflection i think they may be crazy.

  • Who would have thought that the Meth head and bat shit crazy was such a strong Republican voting bloc.

  • good job brother.......

  • nice vid! a tip for all is to have water stored also because whater is more important than food, you can go 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food

  • "am I crazy? I dont know. i may very well be". hahaha thats funny... hey its always good to be prepared right??? (most fires fail because of lack of preparation)

  • You should mention the "use by dates" some of the items you have only have a one or two year shelf life... The other thing you should mention is whole grain, beans, rice and corn has about about three times the shelf life.. Verses cracked, ground or powdered, that mean wheat flour for instance is good for about 5-8 years but whole hard red wheat will last up to 30-35 years.. Get a hand mill and make your own flower, corn meal, ext..

  • Clabber girl baking powder has aluminum in it, not good for you. Buy Rumford premium baking powder, aluminum free.

  • I know you're not crazy ! It's looming on our horizon and unavoidable . Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The only problem I have encountered is longterm storage, I don't want to end up with a huge stash of spoiled food .

  • There are so many upcoming events that could prevent us from having access to food that I set up an account with e-foods global to have shipments for the next few months of good tasting meals that have a shelf life of 15 years. I also got to try some meals for free.

  • @kprehm whats that???

  • i live in Norway, and i am also storing some food for emergency.

  • good video,

  • If the shit hits the fan and splatters society into turmoil there will be plenty of dead bodies to eat. Maybe stock up on Fava beans, they go well with human liver and a survival cup of a nice Chianti-Hannibal Lecter.

  • Thank you Paul for an honest and no nonsense approach to prepping. I'm not afraid of zombies or end of the world either, just prepping for the possible mess-up. I can always eat it b4 it goes bad.

  • this is really good but we need to store ORGANIC stuff without the chemical poison that's in the commercial stuff

organic seasoning, dried beans, rice, wheat (learn to make bread), learn to purify water (that ESSENTIAL) all this other stuff is good for a last resort, but we need to think ahead of that...learn how to grow food IN YOUR HOUSE... hugs&prayers and stay safe everyone

  • Good for you Paul - i have been doing this myself for the same reasons for about 4 months now. I will be moving in a month and can't wait to get our new place all set up for even more and better food storage. i just found some great screw on lids for 5 gallon buckets that are working great for larger amounts of beans, sugar, flour, etc. Keep up the good work.

  • in addition to the excellent video make sure you have enough water (bottled) 3 to 4 liters per person daily.

  • Hey Paul, smart thinking. Keep adding to the stock, those ugly days are coming. Besides the large stock we keep at our hideaway camp, I keep about 3 or 4 days of food in a box (canned meats, with canned milk) in the trunk of the car. If the car broke down or we were stuck , nice not have endanger your self going into stores. Get some pool chlorine tabs, add to unknown water source to purify. Buy 3 or 4 boxes of 12 ga, better to trade then gold, even if you don't have a gun.

  • I have lived through a few huricances myself and have experienced visiting stores right before, and seeing empty selfs and pissed off people starting shouting matches with each other. Hurricane Rita was my tipping point to be prepared for my wife and kids from now on.

  • I like this. A common sense, non-expert (no offense meant) approach to preparation. I watch this and see honesty, sincerity.

Now you need some way to protect your family and your stored food.

  • Thank you. Some interesting points.

  • Our US Government has been providing food for people in other countries for years. If any natural disaster happens in the US we will have food. Another thing is FAITH. God will provide.

  • @slickone67 Look at disasters such as Haiti. Can you imagine having to stand in the lines that form for free food hand outs? Now imagine that you didn't prepare and that hand out was your only food source.

  • I could not agree with you more, ive even had dreams of our government taking over our freedoms lol crazy I know but so important to be prepared thank you for the video.

  • i can see your wife doing wife stuff in the pic behind you on the wall at the beginng :}

were starting are food storage soon.

  • Great video......

  • If EVERYONE would do this we would ALL be a lot better off!!!

  • write down on the can whats in it with a parmanent marker and don't forget a can opener. good vid

  • good planning

  • great video dude i have 5 kids and i have started doing the same keep up the good work

  • what i found is rotation is key, take stock of expiration dates but you already know that but not everybody does. i dont think im too prepared, you can never be too prepared..

  • beans are not grains though but its is very easy to store..rolled oats (not oatmeal) are good too we add then to rice and we have our fiber for the meal..pancake mix is good too or if you have a good camp bread recipe or bannock its a good thing to make some in advance and place them in containers that are rodent and moisture proof..then in case you need it (heaven forbid) or just want some pancakes or camp-bread just use as needed

  • naa same here buddie..we keep a good suppl in rice and canned food here too and i live in the Philippines..we have canned food and a good supply in meat..

  • Great video. Thanks for the well meaning info :)

  • I like the video and I believe in what you are dong. I believe in the possibility of an economic collapse.

Add to that possibility the fact that bio fuel production will be driving up the price of food things could get really bad, Have you seen this:

    jeffood.myefoods.com

It offers an alternative solution for people who watch your videos. If you would like to talk about it please call me 810 955 1860.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • couldnt have said it better myself

  • I looooovvvvveee sex

  • People that don't prepare are a menace to everyone else. Why? Because in an emergency they will panic and come looking for food. I will have enough food to provide for my own family but that's all. I won't be able to feed everyone. When people tell me the government will provide for them I get angry at their laziness and stupidity.

  • buy a gun............problem solved

  • fyi, acidic sauces in tin cans are bad for you. thank you for making you video btw.

  • Food Shortages are Coming Get Prepared.

    $20 Worth of Food, just pay $5.95 S&H GetFoodSavings(dot)com

  • I remember not to long ago when eggo waffles were almost impossible to find. I also remember when the prices of gas went up really high. The stores had a hard time getting in certain products. I always have food stocked up. Rotate it often. Watch for loss leader products at the Grocery store, use coupons, etc. to keep costs low.

Good luck everyone :) You never think its going to happen, but when it does you will be glad you have your stash.

  • Another good survival idea is to research what Native tribes lived in your area and what plants and other resources they utilized.

    Great video.

  • ill say it too, your not crazy. your being prepared, but you need more food and some firearms such as a cheap shotgun and maybe a pistol.

  • You're a good man Paul, thanks for the video.

  • Everyone, I need your help. I remember watching a show on t.v. but cannot remember what it was called. I was hoping you could help me. It was a fictional show. It had a family who was trying to survive some kind of global disaster. The world was in corruption and everyone was defending there neighborhoods with guns. Water and gas was scarce and it was kind of a SHTF moment of the earth. Could someone please tell me what the show was called.

  • @jkatz44 Jericho, perhaps?

either way it was still a good show too bad it was cancelled.

  • cool video, great information

  • I know families who live month to month and spend most of their food allowance on eating out. I asked them about storing and hoarding food, and they just didn't understand the need. I live alone and I have enough food stored up at this time to last me 3-4 months. That is for me, don't come around here looking for food. These people have been warned. Thank you for your video, and best of luck to you and your family.

  • youre awsome dude... i subscribed!

    please make more vids!

  • great prices on oregon freeze dried food at ShaneShop(dot)net

  • Good Job Maybe more Vids

  • Good thinking. Lots do it. Not many video tape it. Good job dad.

  • Great presentation. Good quality video.

  • Anyone looking for cheap canned goods check out an Aldis. In my neck of the woods they are THE cheapest and also good quality.

  • Great vid Paul I've been preping for awhile now and you did really good with the info you have put here ;-)

  • You are not crazy! People need to prepare, keep up you survival learning it will come in handy!

  • you did a great job on the video thumbs up

  • Interesting video, well done. I would not survive w/o brown beans :-)

Cheap food, healthy and tasty ! I think you can do a better job on the prices, not sure. I'm from Holland but f.e that macaroni is packed far to luxereous. That bag of beans is cool ! :-D

I also try to imagine what happens with my life w/o electricity. We are so fully dependent of it. Bought many candles f.e

  • Most corn and soybeans are GM now. I don't, knowingly, buy either but I, recently, bought 50 cans of tuna on sale. It was a good sale and I, foolishly, assumed the product was the same as it had always been. It wasn't. The ingredients included tuna, water and soy.

  • I decided to start with canned good such as salmon and chicken. Some canned food like spinach or collard greens make my ankles swell.

  • Exellent

Remember vote in 2010/2012, it will help get the crap out of the government.

  • i agree everyone should stock up.

  • very good and informative vid..A+

  • IT's all going down, and just don't buy food. Hide food, it will get taken away. You won't be able to have a gun. When Martial law is called gun are not allowed. Some people may be not prepared nad have guns and go crazy. Best to hide you food and group together with relatives and like minded neighbors. Talk to your chruch and friends. Help each other NOW.

  • ANYONE WATCHING THIS VIDEO: Price of the food is not important. Just buy food FOOD FOOD. MAKE SURE YOU GOT IT DONE BY THE END OF APRIL 2010

  • Why april?

  • can you eat your own fecal matter in a survival situation?

  • i would rather die if it gets to that point....

  • I wonder if fecal matter, (feces) has any nutritional value?

  • This is an excellent video. You don't just throw out a bunch of foods and say "buy it!" but you EXPLAIN why you need this stuff.

    5 thumbs up and subscribed!

  • what about water? We would need the most supply of water... I would also think freeze dry food? that does not take much storage space and last long with a complete nutrients? Canned are not healthy at all. I wonder what would be the best type of food to store considering price, space, preparation, etc, etc..?

  • Been doing a lot of research Paul, I am a fan of Datex survival bars which have a 5 year shelf life. Each pack is 3600 calories(18 bars), basic food for 3 days. There are also survival tabs, 12 a day give you 240 calories but 100% of needed vitamins and minerals and have a ten year shelf life. My research has shown that 6 Datex a day with 12 survival tabs gives you all you need

Just thought you would be interested that you could easily hold 4 full weeks worth of food in one small backpack

  • how long will canned food last????

  • at least 3 years as long as you keep it wawy from sunlight..

  • I'm with you on the Del Monte sauce....it is like the cheapest sauce you can buy but it is actually my favorite kind...I like the chunky garlic and herb....it's less than $1 per can where i live and it tastes better that the stuff in a jar that you pay almost $3 for.

  • thanks for posting, as you see americans are still to stupid to get it. they will surely be starving in the first month.

  • he didnt say that he wasnt arned though did he????

  • lol short jeans dude wear some long pants no one needs to see that lol

  • Comment removed

  • My goodness that is a big back of pinto beans. LOL

  • i am english and we do not seem to believe in food storage as we have the mentality that nothing bad happens in england. I am breaking that tradition and have a good food storage, even though my family thinks i am mad, but other than family i do not tell any one what i am doing

  • @ambajet ...and DON'T tell anyone. If and when THEIR food runs out guess who'll be comming over for dinner....everyone.

  • @ambajet You are a smart person. A long time ago, people thought nothing bad would happen in England and then the Germans started firebombing the country.

  • I'm kind of lucky in some respects for eggs. my parents have chickens and get fresh eggs all the time.

I think I'm going to clean up my garage, and start a store of food JUST in case of an emergency.

  • salt, sugar, pepper, peanuts, raisins, chocolate chips, peanut butter, honey, grape jelly, strawberry preserves, crackers/biscuits, canned meats, mustard, cheese, macaroni, rice, ramen, flour, corn meal, popcorn, margarine, tea, coffee, milk powder, evaporated milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, sage, oregano, maple syrup, vinegar, baking powder, shortening/lard, pie filling, nuts, dry salami, stew seasoning,... Roasted in the shell peanuts, ..shells make good fire starting tinder.

  • Look for Chia seeds in the health food stores. Soak a spoonful in water and drink it down or sprout the seeds.

  • Great video.. Keep up the good work.

  • "you bought gold, jewels, diamonds..

should've bought something that could equalize the violence."

    - Canibus - Javelin Fangz

  • HAHA that looks like my grandmas table before she gets down for the family dinner....one week supply challle thats a one night meal my man =D

  • I'd like 2 mention that if u can't find or afford dried eggs u might want 2 buy a small bag of soy POWDER(not soy flour).

U can substitute 1 or 2 Tbs. for each egg in pancakes, batter for frying, cookies, muffins, etc.

It acts as a "binder" to give them the right texture(instead of eggs).Of course you can't make make scrambled eggs out of soy power! But for cooking, it works well! Very cheap & available everywhere...health/bulk/supermarket.

Thanks for making & sharing this helpful video PaulHermann!

  • sorry, I forgot to add.......u'll need to add a couple of spoonfuls of extra water or liquid to your recipe(as well as the spoonful of soypowder) to substitute each egg!!

  • You can also freeze eggs... You can crack the eggs into a bowl mix white/yolk together and put in freezer bag and freeze. You could also cook scrambled eggs and then freeze those.

  • That sounds like an excellent idea....even for just convenience(not running out)!!!

  • Lkonae.....if you lived in the USA I don't think you'd feel that way.Lots of recent examples of emergency situations...Hurricaine Katrina, Illinois floods,California riots & city shutdown.....

Nothing wrong with storing food this way...very smart in fact because you don't just put the food in your basement & forget about it.

The idea is to rotate the food...keep a supply in storage, but use it up as you go along & keep buying fresh supplies when it's on sale. But always keep a good supply .

  • Lkonae

LOL yeah but its good to be prepared,we do seem to have a fair share of natural disasters as well..

  • Folks of all countries used to be more prepared than we are today. People used to have root cellars and grew much of their own food. We are just waking up and realizing that our reliance is on others and not ourselves. Some of us have just chosen to remedy that.

  • Hay, 10 vergins, 5 wise, 5 fullish, it's in the Bible, be prepared always.

  • Grt Points!!, Thx!

  • My family can eat that food in a week.

  • You're not crazy!! You are being prudent and providing for your family. My family has been storing and preparing for over a year.

  • they can call the people that buys $100 sneakers & materialism crazy and stupid but can never underestimate a prepared man with superior equipments im only 17 and ive busted my butt buying canned goods myself to prepare for only 3 people in the house, it's being smart not crazy
