  • And the wind went away in July, 2001...leaving an echo that continues in the hearts of his wife and children.

  • And the wind went away in July, 2001...leaving an echo that continues in the hearts of his wife and children.

  • A moving tribute to a sailor dad, esp. ones like Cap'n Bob Paige and Jimmy Buffett's dad (I think), who are stricken with Alzheimers: "The wind went away in 1995." Jimmy Buffett's dad died in 2003.

Enduring echoes call out from his past

Time ain't for savin' - no, time's not for that

Chasing false echoes like a lost legionnaire

He waltzes on memories while he fades like a flare

    R.I.P. Cap'n Bob Paige, 1925 - 2011. Love you, Dad

  • Awesome melody, beautiful lyrics, treetop flyer as a hidden track? Doesn't get much better than this KUDOS JB - long live ParrotHeads

  • everyone wishes they could do this for their own father

  • So beautiful.

  • The peace in my heart right now can only say one word. Thanks.

  • @MakinYouBad Ain't it the truth.

  • Thank you...

  • as the son of a son of a sailor myself and a sailor by trade as well

this song makes me tear up everytime i hear it get to '' its family tadition we take to the sea"

  • This song is so good. Hit's me and my Family very close to home. Thank all our Fathers; Jimmy you are special!

  • I agree on both points. Great song, great album.

  • This is the story of our fathers that worked day and night to make sure we were secured and taught us how to battle for ourselves when we become responsible for ourselves. The lyrics are very very deep and the melody is breathtaking! I think this is the best of Jimmy Buffet's repertoire and also maybe the best in the folk songs series!

Jimmy, you are alive through this song!

  • My favorite Jimmy Buffet song, really touches my heart listening to it. You can hear how much he loves his father. I'm glad I finally found it again.

  • R.I.P.

    Captain Robby (Robi) Lieburge.

  • I'm a very big Jimmy fan, was raised on him, saw him back on this tour when I was only 6 years old. This song takes me back to my childhood everytime... Very emotional song for me, one of his best.

  • Very, very good song. Underrated album too.
