  • i have a fisheye :P

    Great tutorial rich!

  • Just a question, what sort of video camera do you use?

  • ur fingers got cut off at 4:30

  • If your shirts get any cooler im gonna loose me mind!

  • gr8 job but at 4:23 ur hand goes past the natural line so it chops of ur hand lmao

  • Excellent. Call me an idiot but I never realised that about the setting 'auto' so I may just have to get out the book that came with my camera and see how I can improve my photos. Thanks for this. Maybe you could do a tutorial on 'An Idiot's guide to using a digital camera'? pretty please.

  • you are one happy midget. good video!

  • Great tutorial! You made a mistake at 4:24 were your finger dissapeared. ;)

  • Can't wait to see your "passing objects" tutorial :)

  • lil rich clone is hilarious

  • thought this was a tutorial, this is tips.

  • Quick question, what type of camera do you have?

  • hey um could u do a tutorial on colour correction if u already havnt done oh and by the way. UR VIDEOS ARE GREAT! LOVE THE OPENING!

  • Comment removed

  • I have a tiny question! Is all your video made with Sony Vegas ? And are you using another software in combination with...

    Thank !

  • Thumbs up if you like the introduction song !

  • Umm...Rich?...

Does it actually taste like real butter?

    lol...

    Rob.

  • Dude when i first saw you, i thought, omg -.-, but now i realise your one of the best youtubers EVER. and i've been with youtube for about 2 years! Dont let anyone put you down because of your height, it's whats in the inside that counts!! SUBBED telling all my friends about you :)

  • @PureXProductionss thanks so much! Drop me a PM if you have any questions...also check out my video called 'Can I feature your Video' This is how I chose to box people (there is a link on my channel page called 'apply' above the guest video picture on the left hand side) :)

  • Perty darn good tutorial Rich! Good work and keep em coming.

  • @Samotny13 thanks for that :) I will certainly keep them coming, I hope to have the next one done over the weekend, meantime I am launching my Christmas competition on Friday..£600 in prizes ($1,000 ish) ! sooo excited!

  • Absolutely great tips! I've been thinking I need a wide angle lens for my camcorder for years... but to hear a professional say it, finally gives me the confidence to buy one.

Also another tip is to not only tun off auto white balance, but to also turn off auto focus. This may not be much of an issue with larger shots, but with the skewed angle you suggest, the camera's autofocus may shift on you mid shot. Very annoying.

  • @AllenKll Thanks my friend, although I am far from professional LOL! I was amazed with the wide angle not only for working in close quarters (which is primarily why I bought it) but the wide shots outside are stunning, a real film feel. They usually come with a ring to fit on your camera if they are not the same size fitting and are relatively inexpensive, having said that you can spend a fortune on a good lens. Mine came from an online retailer called digitaltoyshop... Great tip about focus!

  • Hi, Rich. Can I make a request?

How do I transplant the Dance Dance Revolution FX where arrows scroll up the screen in tune with the music onto another video?

  • @Germania9 I think you would have to create the shapes and manually move them to the beat...would be tricky and time consuming unless somebody else knows of an easier way?

  • GREAT tips Rich!! Wish I owned a wide angle lens, I can see the amazing difference.

I had noticed from other videos, when you do split screen that you zoom in and out and I wondered why, so thanks for answering that for me also. Cheers!

  • @DelisaProductions You are welcome, glad you found the tips useful The wide angle definitely gives a lovely feel to film especially outdoor panoramic views :)

  • Man, it was like CD playing inside your head, you kept talking .... nice vid.

  • @Turbo2200kBps LOL like a CD that got stuck hehee ...glad you enjoyed it :)

  • The white balance and wide-angle lens are great tips. Will really help people in all their videos beyond just cloning!

  • @seeyoulaterfatty quite right, the number of times I watched a video back and seen massive shifts in shade/contrast etc :)

  • LOL you´re great dude :P thanks a lot.

  • @agukoff you are welcome :)

  • another great tutorial Rich, also, those live shows you do are hilarious! :D

  • @FlamingRoseStudios glad you enjoy the live shows, still trying to get my head round the idea of it but having fun doing so! Have a surprise this week in store if all pans out :)

  • Great tutorial, thanks!

  • @KraftTV you are welcome :)

  • thanks rich for the 'set manual white balance'

now i don't have to change the contrast while editing..

  • @dtjumperdin The manual settings are great for giving a certain 'look' such as a set exposure or white balance....as you say a lot easier than doing it in the editing! :)

  • fandabadosie information there rich!

  • @BradandBitches thanks so much! :)

  • i wish there was an easier way to move the barrier back and forth like i can see his fingers just randomly disappear

  • @JoeM8zzProductions I missed that bit in edit but you can move the mask over the couple of frames and move it back again quite easily :)

  • Where did you get that lens from rich?

  • @Merseymedia just been searching my old emails for you to find out and it is an excellent store for all camera accessories called digitaltoyshop. Don't let the name put you off lOL very reasonable for batteries, lenses etc :)

  • @richw4 Cheers Rich! I owe you one! =D

  • @richw4 Cheers rich! I owe you one! =D

  • For some reason while watching this I had an image of your hair being shoulder length, and I thought, what a brilliant challenge!!!

  • @HillierSmithStudios I've always wanted to grow it long but it gets to that in between stage where it just looks a mess and am advised by Charli to cut it lol :)

  • That looked excellent. I'm currently putting together a VoD series that would need some "ghostly" special effects. I'd love to discuss it with you early next year if you're interested in some side work.

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms that would be awesome buddy! Have been working in the background on some new 'spooky' fx! :)

  • Thanks for the tips Rich

  • @ShadowlostArts you are most welcome :)

  • I find your videos slightly annoying. You try to hard to sound enthusiastic and that comes off as a bit condescending.

  • @iSkulk LOL you don't make as many videos as I do for fun if you weren't enthusiastic! If you find them condescending that is your issue not mine and simply solved by not watching and annoying yourself :)

  • @richw4 Haha I supoose you have a point. UNSUBSCRIBED... not really. I love your tutorials lol.

  • @iSkulk LOL thanks for that, I just am aware I have a wide demographic from the very young to more mature people who watch. So I try and make them entertaining, fun and as untechnical as I can. Good job you don't live in our house as I am like this off camera too lol ;)

  • @richw4 I like your shows ^^ very awesome

  • @gandalfx77 thank you so much! :)

  • All of this makes my webcam and windows movie maker seem very, very basic!

  • @ThatBeatonBoy I think that's where we all start, a lot of my early vids were made in movie maker, even managed to do a bit of green screen with it! :)

  • great info. rich

  • @bigkrisp thanks my friend :)

  • Very informative for us novists, Rich. Thanks

  • @LPGexpert you are welcome :)

  • rick you remind me of my father..... those forearms!! lol

  • @sibi12123 LOL I built up massive muscles as a kid pulling myself around after surgeries on my legs and feet...if I'd been taller I should have been a boxer he he :)

  • on the pan zoming there is a part where the closer u get ur fingers get cut off if u look care fully at 4:24

  • Cool beans

  • hi m8 erm... me agaain (Littlerichbiggestfan from the live chat)

you should a tutorial for prekeying in vegas e.g action movie essencils ( how to remove black)

    thanks m8 cya

  • ooh nice, always wanted my own clone :)

  • @Xinanigans LOL I watched it back today and it is really distracting! heehee :)

  • @JustinJamesUK good tip, camera wobble would look really good! :)

  • @AtlantisDigitalFilms good to see you back! After Effects is still way ahead in ternms of what you can do but there is still a lot in Vegas people don't realise. :)

  • Handy-dandy, resourceful Rich. :)

  • @maintoc Thank you my friend! Handy Dandy reminds me of a kid's show from way back over here called Andy Pandy - maybe they are related lol :)

  • Useful vid! Rich, what camera do you use? Unfortunately, my camera doesn't seem to have a manual white balance.

  • @creamofcardstv I use a Panasonic HDC HS20 (or 30) If you have manual exposure you can use that to help achieve a more constant 'brightness' :)

  • @richw4 thkx

  • Fantastic as always very informative and presented in ace joviality , good tip on the white balance and turning off auto exposure a lot of people never do this. :)

  • @DavideoDesign cheers mate! Still experimenting with iris, exposure and white balance settings but you can do so much these days! Int technology brilliant? :)

  • @mrshoy masking?

  • I was watching yesterday something from wheezy waiter where he disappears after a laserbeam.. but even looking at frame by frame I can't spot any cut of the background since there was a person behind that walked smoothly.. so..do you have any idea on how it could be reproduced?

  • umm rich...... your fingertips went missing when zooming and panning.....

but thanks a bunch that helped me understand a lot of my mistakes

  • @yosiberman LOL oops I missed those few frames...just shows how tricky it can be...mind you I was using quite an extreme angle to try and show how different split screen can look..I'll pay more attention next time and not get too rushed by the arrival of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood which arrived yesterday lol :)

  • @richw4 i actually have a video were the end of my clones head goes missing.....

rushed to work and really wanted to finish making the video, so no biggy

  • cant wait for the next vid ^.^

  • Little dick found his way home!

  • @Liamwitz no he is still on the loose..that was me doing an impression of him lol - I'm going out hunting for him very soon as I've heard rumours of sightings ;)

  • cool

  • Thanks for giving excellent tips on how to do timing. In Your last splitscreen vid I make a comment on this subject, nice thing from You to reply as tutorial. :)

Hope to see tutorial on how to walk around on clone (as You hint to possible make one).

I read from Your channel that You uppgrade to Sony Vegas 10, hopefully it's not so different from previous versions. Otherwise we older version owners might not be able to follow.

  • @MrRamtoi Vegas 10 is not much different from 9. It has 3d capability but am not in a rush to try that lol. There are a couple of extra fx plug ins but nothing major. Most of the tutorials I make are mainly about techniques so they are usually transferable between different versions. :)

  • I have found your tutorials very helpfull. I have had my sony vegas for 5 years and have just found out how to use it. Thanks to you. I now look foward to your vids to teach me more. Thanks Rich.

  • @MrDrGomez Hope you find the tutorials helpful, there are quite a few on the playlist on my channel. Hope you have fun learning and editing! :)

  • great tips in this one! the white balance tip was very helpful and explains a lot when doing split screens! thanks Rich!

  • @nukem384 thank you! Yes just using manual white balance and/or exposure really helps..I think we all do the same when we get a new cam...bang it on auto and away you go lol :)

  • That's an excellent tutorial Rich! Is the livestream on tonight? If it is I will be looking forward to it! By the way, did you get the message I sent you on here? I know you probably get a lot of mail so I understand if you can't respond to it :-D

  • @CSSproductionz Yes I'm doing the live blogtv tonight! Just found your message..yes it had gotten buried oops ...I'll reply in a minute :))

  • Oh shit, you're a really good teacher!

  • @bouken92 ahh thanks for that :)

  • That isnt a lens thats just an adapter

  • I was actually just going to try cloning myself. Thank you so much for making this. =D

  • @stavrosmike hope you have fun trying it out! :)

  • I can't believe it's not butter.

  • @wobbers99 I still can't believe I can't believe it's not butter :)

  • Ah the hours spent learning all of this the hard way. I wish you had made this tutorial 5 years ago rich! lolz

  • @ratuse damn it, I'll get on with finishing that time machine off that I've been building in my shed ;)

  • 4:17 his shadow diapered

  • Hey Rich. Don't you ever do a bad tutorial. I still can't believe how simple you make things mate. Hope your keeping well and can't wait for the next cloning vid. All the best mate.

    Cheers

    Jim

  • @pipesgt I'm sure I've made the odd dodgy one Jim lol! I guess it's like everything the more you do it the more you learn and better you get...hang on why can't I cook ? lol :)

  • Next tip for really advanced slit screen work you can demonstrate animating the mask so that you're not stuck with a static mask throughout the event.

  • @thenoob6 Its funny becauase you believe the stupidest shit man.

  • awesome tutorial and I might try it sometime but I honestly feel there should not ever be two of me.. even if only on video. *grin* not sure the world could handle it LOL.

    - Heidi

  • @blackcat2enterprises haha Heidi! I think I should take your advice too! :)

  • looks like your clone was really doing a snarky FACE lol!

  • @SnarkyEntertainment yes that is definitely a Snarky face lol :)

  • Thanks a lot rich, i was hoping to learn something like this =) Cheers Man

  • @iagorockboy you are welcome :)

  • That was one of the most interesting videos I've seen. The difference between the 2 lenses was startling. You made some great points there. The camera I use, i turn off auto exposure - very good point that. As is that of using natural lines. The panning you do really makes all the difference and the recorder you use is a top top tip.

    Great super smashing

  • @Kie77 cheers Kie! Charli nearly choked this afternoon watching your vanishing Coke bottle...we were in hysterics! Such an ace character MORE please :) (not to choke Charli...that's not what I meant oops digging a hole here) lol :)

  • @richw4 Quick, someone take that shovel off Rich before Charli see's this! Lol

  • I love the intro rich! ^_^

  • @NuttyNarwhal thanks to Atlantisdigitalfilms for making it :) The winner of the tutorial side of my intro competition...awesome editing! :)

  • @richw4

ZOMG HE REPLIED TO MY COMMENT =O

  • Great tips mate very very useful .. thanks for this ...

  • @AS6VIDEO cheers mate! I'm sure there are loads of other useful tips too...must do the clone video that allows you to walk in front/behind your clone at some point :)

  • Im trying to add blood to my videos, they are stock footage from Detonation films and they have a white background. So instinctively I just decided to use the Multiply compositing mode in Vegas to remove the white, it worked, but if I move the clip around to position is correctly a black box appears around it..

    Very annoying.

  • I noticed the mistake on ~4:00 - you`ve skip some time, but not on other layer...

  • @1Nekit1 yeah there were a couple of glitches...I made the video then realised I had reset the zoom when I filmed the second half son none matched so I then had to re-film the entire tutorial so I guess my haste and patience let me down there a little...plus we had just got Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and were desperate to put it on lol! :)

  • @richw4 Yeah... that game will be sick :) ! ! ! And that`s really nice tutorial... "Didn`t teach me nothing" - lol

  • can you make a blogtv and do one sometime blogtv is better than ustream i mean alot better diwdget master lol!!!

  • Thank you so much for the audio recording tip rich.

  • @SpyralVideo you are welcome..it really does help with audio clarity especially outdoors..the Tutorial on the mobile phone wireless mic explains in detail how to sync the audio/video etc :)

  • very helpful but my trial for sony vegas endend like 1 month ago :( but glad to see your helping others :D

  • @123legomovies damn..I'll have to see fi I can get hold of some copies to give away as prizes :)

  • Thanks for this Rich! It helps a lot! :)

  • @EpicComedyGenius glad to help out :)

  • 1min of watching *subscribed*

  • @iSkyce thanks so much, really appreciated :)

  • Awesome, i didnt think about the microphone! AWESOME SHIRT!! lol glad you like it rich

  • @SnarkyE haha I thought you might like it!! The tutorial on the microphone in the vid description is really useful as you can be miles from the camera and get crystal clear recording of voice audio without wind noise if outside :)

  • This is probably one of the best tutorials on YouTube about cloning on Video. I can't wait until the next one comes out about how to actually Interact with yourself!

  • @Lepper36 Glad you found it helpful, the first one (listed in the video description) goes into the actual editing side of cloning in more depth...now on to the next tutorial.. : )

  • Another great tutorial Rich

  • @Merseymedia thanks my friend :)

  • I also got a wideangle lens, its called raynox qc-303. I use it for skateboarding, not the best but good! :D

  • @Zisaar bet you get some good shots with it though, very useful for that kind of sport I imagine :)

  • Nice one,great info,

  • @stevesnaps1 thanks so much :)

  • this video was kind of useless for me, but I can't wait to see the next one! :D

(you still get a thumbs up though ;D)

  • @TekkenRulezz thanks dude! The next one should be more fun :))

  • could you plz tell me how to generate snow or make it snow on vegas

  • @joshuamyler there are no 'generators' as such in Vegas apart from the media ones..perhaps one of those could be adapted but would be easier to use a clip from somewhere like video co-pilot....I'll have a think though :)

  • LOL! That was really funny and informative Rich!

Your clone looks like he could be a handful after

    polishing off that bottle. ☮
