Steve, i've watched this vid now many times and have tried indoor oyster cultivation. All my primordials get to an inch or so bigger and then die off. I've given up and am going to do the plug spawn method this spring like you have done here. I was just wondering what kind of logs you used here? They look like poplar or alder? Am i correct? Could you also let us know how the logs that you soaked turned out as far as fruiting? good job and cant wait to start my own! Thanks for the vid! Cheers!
@MorchellaMike Hi Mike, That is odd that your shrooms just die like that...is your humidity too low? Plug spawn or sawdust spawn worked great for me...but the plug was slower to run. The wood was in fact Poplar. In my area of WNC Oysters love Yellow Poplar and after I soaked them they flushed strongly and I ate well:-) Best of luck with your shrooms.
im trying to figure out if the mushrooms in my yard are deadly to my dog, how can i find a guide with pictures to know if they are safe or if i should pick and discard them? please respond, love my puppy and dont want him to get sick
super exciting! those itty bitty babies are super cute. I plan on growing some oysters myself soon, but I have no room for logs so I'm growing in door in jars, and then a grow chamber. I'm super super excited. this video just makes me more excited!
Okay, Steve, you have have me severely hungry with that omelet. Wow! I've really enjoyed watching the few videos I've seen so far and will probably watch them all at some point. I've just gotten really interested in mushrooms. Mmmm...mushrooms.
