so 86 deaths out of a city of 22M, along with 1400 cases (or hospitalizations--the facts seem hard to confirm at this point). if 36,000 people die annually from the flu in the states, that's 2640 a year in mexico city, or roughly 7 people a day... so 86 deaths is roughly 12 days worth of average flu deaths, except that such deaths likely aren't evenly distributed. so if anything, the noteworthy part of the story is that it's killed young adults....but how many? this info seems elusive.
