  • You've got to get your camera in close and tight for all and every item the mechanic mentions. That means lowering the bike, camera on tri-pod, right up on the break and at times, spinning the bike around and getting the close shot from the other side. Looking at his back or listening to what he's talking about and not being able "to see" what he is doing at every step is self-defeating. That said, thanks for taking the time to share the knowledge.

  • The absolute best way to do your brakes! Period!

  • More close-ups!

  • excellent videos. subscribed!

  • Tony looks like a mob figure doing community service time for something bad he got caught doing XD

  • @Skinhitta My sentiments exactly.

  • Look out behind you!!!! There's a huge floating logo!

  • Camera wasn't close enough often enough to see what was being done.

  • Are you gentlemen going to do any more of these videos, because they are excellent. I see that etape.tv has gone, but maybe some other location for them would be useful? Thanks very much.

  • my tire touches the v brakes and i cant tighted the brake cable any more because then my tire touches the brakes even more can you put a vid that can help me

  • Thanks, helped me center my brakes and get them set up

  • I adjusted my brakes according to the instructions on this video. When I took the bike out onto the street to test the brakes, they failed and I plowed into an old woman. I saw that she was knocked unconscious and bleeding from the head so I sped off as fast as I could. When I got home I readjusted the brakes and they are working fine now. Thanks for the video.

  • @penn707 --lmfao!

  • great video leonardmlee my rear brakes were acting up a bit but after watchin your video my brakes are workin properly again......u should do more maintenance videos thanks again!!

  • Thanks for posting! Very useful.

  • My new bike wont engage on to the largest one on the front derailer. The first two are fine but that one just clicks continuously. Its also very very stiff when trying to change to the gear.

  • These videos are GREAT! My bike is cheap and all the parts are of poor quality, so I always have to be a bit inventive when I follow these guides. I need a better bike.

If only this was in 720p HD to see all the screws and bits slighty better.

  • thanks very good video!!!

  • great videos, I've mastered my bike adjustments and now it works smoothly

    thank you

  • Thank you!

  • Squeaking isn't natural, it means that because your brake pad has rubbed on the rim(v-brakes) or disc (disc brakes) whilst the wheels is turning/your not braking resulting in your brake pads becoming very smooth, and whilst they still may work it is very annoying for you and others. The other reason is that once they have been wet they have been left with water on them. if your bike gets wet, when you come home drop it from about 5cm from the ground (obviously catch it) should remove most water

  • haha, UK style, with the back brake on the left !

    Kinda make sens I guess..

  • his voice and demenor remind me of Edward woodward

  • Thanks alot. Very helpful.

  • Damn Dura-Ace everywhere!

  • i have disc brakes on my mtb and they squeak can some one help me to fix the problem

  • try to tilt the brake pads so the bottoms make contact with the rim first .. that should help

  • Sometimes the squeaking is natural. Mine squeaks but works perfectly well.

  • sand paper the pads

  • Left lever should be for front brake.... weird build.

  • well heer in the uk its the right way

  • really?

  • This is a bike set up for the UK - where they ride on the left side of the road, so the brake leavers are set up the other way round.

  • In England, they drive on the left side of the road, And they also set up the Front brake with the right lever

  • @jacobbbbbbbbbb why?

  • Its a uk set up so the rear brake is controlled by the left leaver

  • people still use those breaks??

  • great vids any chance of BB replacement and head set replacements thanks

  • Pull on the Leeever, ehh? lol

  • Perhaps he's from the Beatles' hometown: He's a Leeverpuller. (That's a joke from Yellow Submarine).

  • A big thank you for these tutorials. In the past 10 minutes I have learned how to tighten up my brakes and a loose handlebar stem. Saved me plenty of money and time no doubt. My new 'first port of call' for bike problems.

  • Thanks for posting this video. Yours was the only one that related to Road bikes. The video gave great general tips on how to fix my troubles. Thanks for your help.

  • I totally DON'T suggest to adjust your hydraulic discs yourself, the only need for that is if you're going on an extended tour through remote areas using hydraulics but no one does that. Adjusting hydraulics is hard and even not all mechanics do that well, it's an art. Just bring it to your local mech who knows about discs and he will adjust that. Dont do yourself, it's not one of thoe DIY things to do.

  • do a video about adjusting disc brakes my front disc is making a noise i think its rubbing with someting

  • The video was indeed informative but it would be really helpful if you could do a video on the maintenance of disk brakes because all the new bikes that are coming into the market have disk brakes on them and i was unable to find a descent video on the maintenance of disk brakes!! Can you help??

  • Yeah no kidding I have disc brakes and I havent a clue as to how to adjust them since I have never had a bike with disc brakes.

  • Thanks for the tips.

  • like your tutorials, good info. could you possibly do one about the brake lever on the handle bar it self? I unscrewed it and a spring and washer jumped out. I havent been able to put it back together since.

  • you should do one on replacing bar tape...i just wasted £12.99 on some nice cork stuff, only to muff it up because i didnt know how to do it properly :-(

  • P.S

Could you do one on the Front Deraileur please ?

  • Hi there, glad you are finding the videos useful and thanks for the nice comment; I'll pass it on to Tony, the man who is actually in front of the camera. (I'm the one behind it!!) Hopefully we will be making some more maintenance videos soon and I will certainly try to include one about adjusting the front derailleur.

  • Hi Leonard

Your videos are great, especially because you have a great way of teaching.

  • nice bike,good vid.

  • Thanks for the comment. I am currently working on some more maintenance videos along with some cycle fitness ones but I would welcome any suggestions for topics you would like to see covered.

  • top video. youtube should have more of this

  • Just use your shoe in the wheel.
