  • so much bad info here regarding housing care ie heater tank size.

  • I met this guy. He's smart. Trust him.

  • @craftybubble5 yeah, and I bet you can live in your bedroom for awhile to.

  • mine lived for 6 year i was amazed how long he lived but he died this year :(

  • the person on the tv is telling everyone how to make your betta survive but remember surviving is not thriving

  • That guy is a dumb ass

  • Beautiful

  • I have mine in a 1 gallon tank and he is doin great!!! check him out on my videos!!

  • I just got my first betta fish today, it's in a 1 gallon tank without a filter , is that ok and how regularly should I change the water

  • @ronstermonster98 my betta ended up dying from parasites because the medication to treat needed at least 5 gallons and didnt work and the water quality got bad quick. The minimum is 3-5 gallons with a slow moving filter and a heater, between 78-80 F. A live plant in the tank is great too. Any smaller will stress the betta, unfortunetly pet stores tell people bowls are ok but they arent, it's a myth. Always use dechlorinater to treat tap water to remove chlorine and copper.

  • that guy is an idiot. I had 25 at once. All in 1ft glass tubes in a row ontop of my mantle. They get "turned on and excited" with mirrors and it helps to keep them healthy. If you keep one in a tiny cup and never show it another fish or a mirror it will become depressed and lodge itself somewhere all the time. They also dont "like" the correct term is prefer. They dont mind other fish. I have a beta and a baby oscar in one of my tanks they are best friends..they rub on each other and play.

  • TOTAL IGNORANCE AND CRUELTY! IDIOTS!

  • these ppl reall dont know shit

  • Mine has a much better life she has it in menu water and a small tank mine is in a 5.5 gallon with a filter and light he has a wonderful life

  • i'm gonna hang that woman with my lights ,that is decorative in my livingroom haha

  • 6:29

  • I have one of those red betta fish and I put some guppies in there. they've been fine for a few days and on the internet they say u can keep bettas with guppies wut do u think?

  • can you keep 2 fish in the tank with a divider or would they be better off in sepearate cages?

  • @codysimpsongirl8071

Bettas need a minimum of 5 gallons to be healthy, I have seen them in 10 or even 20 gallons too, as long as the filter current isnt strong and you have some live plants in there for them to swim through, they do very well in larger aquariums. If your going to divide, it will need to be a 10 or 20 gallon. In this case, the plants act as a way for the bettas to hide behind so they arent seeing each other 24/7 which will stress them out.

  • People are so dumb. You can keep them with other fish you just need a big enough tank about 10 gallons. They need their space, also it just depends on the personality.

  • Betta fishes ARE able to be with other fish except other males. I have had a Betta fish with minnows and an African spotted frog. And I'm going to be getting another Betta soon :)

  • Cool

  • I have my red veiltail male in a tank with a bunch of snails and 4 small comets that are about half his size he has never even looked at them and he usually chills with them on the bottom of the tank or on the plants and he eats the baby snails

  • @1997xboxgamer

Goldfish require COLD water, Bettas WARM water, if they are mixed one of those fish is not in the right kind of tank.

  • I like how this guy explains why the water needs to stay clean, although of course the best way to keep a betta is in a 5 gallon or more tank with a cycled filter. But still, good video :)

  • poor fish

  • i have my betta without a devider with another fish so what you need to do is just get one thats layed back also bettas needs a mirror for a work out or else they might die from colesterol build up

  • That bowl is way to small their tanks should be at least a gallon. I have a 1 gallon and I'm upgrading to a 2.5 gallon.

  • I want to this guy. Ive had betta with other fish , the dont attack other fish .. They will attack males of there own species , but you can have them with two females. and those little tanks are mean , you know , there a FISH. they need to swim around. I hope someone put you in a little bowl and uses you as a decoration.

  • a betta is not a "decoration" like she said its an animal, A PET! you need to treat it just like you would a dog/cat

  • Is 10 gallons too much? ( I'm prbly just gona get one male and possibly a few other fish)

  • @morpheus9494

10 gallons is great, you can even go up to 15-20 gallons. Just make sure if your going to out other fish in that they arent aggressive, or vice versa where the betta will attack them. Anything with colorful fins or long fins wont be good as bettas will mistake it for another betta. Fish like gouramis and barbs are bad because they will nip your bettas fins. Also be sure to use a slow moving filter, a fast moving one will tire a betta out.

  • Oh god... Those jersey accents...*shudders*

  • I dont like how the lady says they are decorations they are pets that need to be respected and cared for just like a dog or cat/ any animal. Besides that This is pretty accurate information!!

  • mine is 4

  • I hate how that woman calls betta's a "decoration". they're living animals, not like a plant or statue. also, if you don't have a living plant in your tank then i would recommend getting a heater. if you don't have a living plant, algae will grow.

  • Wat shud I feed my betta on a regular basis

  • @TheHorsecrazyprinces

Definetly frozen Bloodworms and frozen Brine Shrimp. If your betta is constipated a tiny bit of frozen Daphnia or half de-shelled pea helps. Hikari betta pellets are good too. Mix up the food each day. Only feed about 2-3 pellets a day, a bettas stomach is the size of its eye, thats tiny!

  • @keithp wat do u recommend? petco or petsmart

  • Does he still come on TV if he does tell me what channel thx

  • @TheMetalbrawler The Hallmark channel

  • I wonder why this doesn't have more views, the info is really great!!!

Well, the top rate comment is right. :)

  • How is she gonna fit her hands in that slot

  • This guy is awesome. I used to have a male betta, and a female, but at different times, Bettas are one of the best fish species.

  • It's rather annoying how the lady here talks about Betta's as a decorative ornament.

No pet should be purchased/adopted solely based on how he/she goes with your room decor. Look for good health than colour.

  • @Wolfie238 I also like how she keeps talking about his "tank", when she's carrying him around in a half gallon vase <:(

  • Yah, what DonnaGreenleaf said. Females can't be kept together in under 10 gallons, and even then you need a lot more cover. The temperature will fluctuate too much with a lamp instead of a heater, and there needs to be a lot of hiding places since Bettas feel very insecure in bare homes.

Overall, one of the most accurate care vids I've ever seen. And he pronounced "Betta" right, too! But his "splendins" Sounded a bit wierd to me.

  • Over all, its very accurate information :-D except a few things.

Really you shouldn't keep the females together in such a small space, it is possible to keep them together without them killing each other but only in 10gallon+ aquariums with a ton of hiding places.

Also, you really should invest in a heater for the tank, and not depend on a lamp to heat the bowl because once you turn the lamp off, the temperature drops significantly and temp swims can cause a betta to become sick and die.

  • @DonnaGreenleaf yah, but a heater can make the water too hot in that smal tank. I use a heat lamp for my smaller tanks. But 3 gallons or more and you should have a heater.
