  • i'm so impressed, as well as impressed with your music taste and music collection behind you. wowzers! would love to have a browse at all that!

  • Do you use Ableton? Reaktor?

  • works like charm in keeping up one's spirits!

  • This is amazing! You have my most humble respect for making such a great instrument and for mixing such incredible music.

  • Just amazing! want to be like you!

  • Well done Sir!

  • This is just beyond epic! Seriously...you my friend are a genius. I'd kill to able to learn skills from someone like you. Outstanding and more superlatives on top!

  • That there is a thing of beauty. You should make and sell boutique midi controllers.

  • This is one of the best examples of blending the old with the new. Very inspirational to me. anyone that can't dig is a fool.

  • Truly impressed!!

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ummm.. yo.. tha shits just a wooden mpc.... LOL.. what he's making is hip hop

  • you rock!

  • .....um, what just happened? my face is on the floor

  • you rock, older dude! is that maple wood you used for the face? I want to create something simular with 16 motorized faders and dedicated midi controls for 5 band eq on each fader. now I know it can be done and look awesome too

  • EPIC!

  • SUUUUPER !!!

  • the most beautiful midi controller on earth

  • @noveNiz0r Hmm not really.

  • is there anywhere to get this mix?

  • I love the different ways that people use Ableton Live.

  • Get a strap for it, rock it like a keytar..........

Gj Mate, awsome mix and cool controller. Reminds me of Daedeuls's monome.

  • I don´t want to be rude, but screw all those wannabe DJs showing their ready made MIDI interface on youtube while pushing some buttons and turning knobs using preset effects...

    THIS IS THE SHIT!!!

Best youtube video in that matter. Finally good music, awesome controller and a nice guy. Thumbs up!

  • @derLordVetinari I don't want to be rude, but isn't making music (by that i mean all forms ie writing, producing, just playing etc..) about enjoyment and the sound you create? It doesnt matter if a 'wannabe DJ' (lol) uses a preset - that's why it's there?

This guy has made a beautiful controller, but fuck ever using it for anything other than a conversational piece.

    TL;DR looks nice, but impractical.

  • @StartSelect1 I just meant, that there are a lot of useless videos on youtube, where someone is just pushing buttons and is not doing something special. But this video is something special. Even if you think that it is useless for you. I would like to see more of this videos, because it gives impressions and ideas to make your own controller.

  • @derLordVetinari Yeahh you are right there.. i do not know of a video like this.

  • @derLordVetinari It's not about the controller, but rather the end result.

  • @derLordVetinari where ... exactly is the difference? between this and other midi controllers?

  • @AlexRider001 Where the difference is? Are you kidding? If you don't see it, I can't help you. But first of all it's selfmade...

  • Would love to see some more active buttonmashing with that thing! Looks really versilate.

  • i love the controller but mostly love the music you mix and the way you mixed. un trabajo fantastico!

  • absolutely astonishing!!

  • Excellent!

You might want to add the keywords Ableton Live to the title and/or tags, so that more people can find the video...

  • That was amazing! Great Remix it flowed real nicely.

  • The new Dali ¿?

    This is amazing!

  • Beautiful controller.. none of that expensive wood stuff for me :P

Good performance & choice of samples too.. with more practice you'll be able to do some amazing stuff..

It's funny how simple Live really is, but how crazy you can get with it

  • -__- richie hawtins father...

  • Nice, I saw this on DJTT! Great job btw!

  • That is just too cool! Great work on the controller!

  • sweet! amazing design (the wood looks great) and great remix!

just one question: what kind of interface have you used to connect ALL those buttons and potentiometers?! there are too many of them and miditron, the one i use, just have 10 ins/outs...

  • @matheusmla I use "The Brain" from the DIY kit from Livid Instruments.

  • Amazing swing, yeeeeah so cool controller, i want one of these¡!¡!¡!

  • awesome! a beautiful hybrid of electronic and "analog/acoustic" look!

  • nice MIDI controlller...

  • Crazy Man.

  • nice! excellent work

  • pretty sick!

  • I can't belive it !!!!!!! =) jojjojo yeaahh

  • hmmmmmmm.......... wierd! imagine taking that shit to a club.... and bustin this tune.... this is as wierd as fried noodle ice cream!

But the guy looks soo happy so much respect for his happiness!

  • i admire your dedication and nice music but i wldn't take that controller to stage lol

  • i really like this vintage-style ! he has builded a beautifull instrument..... all thumbs up !!

  • Fantastic work... beautiful peice of kit..!

  • the controller really impressed me, it looks beautiful :) but what impressed me even more was your skills :P

  • The video doesn't do the quality of the wood grain justice! Thank you for inspiring the digital music community to continue to push the boundaries with custom instrumentation.

  • This is incredible!

  • Great Job. Very inspiring. Keep up the good work!!

  • AMAZING! beautifully designed. i love how you threw the monk version in there. did you have to quantize these tracks beforehand?

  • @raitei202 The four tracks were remarkably close to being in the same key; the tempos had to be tweaked.

Ableton has a feature called "warping", which allows you to get them all sync'd up in time.

  • @musicinablender awesome. the design aesthetic and the use of modern tools creates is a fantastic fusion of new and old, just like the music. i hope to see more from you in the future!

  • Brilliant!

  • its really good! but i would love to understand how it works... !!!!!!!

  • @MrRidisc the magic is really on the Ableton Live software. Check it out

  • @alejorro70 i know the software... i also know that the software is very flexible... and i have no f*cking ideia about what he's doing... thats what i mean... i know that in theory you could do the same with other controllers, probably more then one though...

  • awesome!

  • neither a million of words could explain the meaning of creativity and "open your mind" how you did it, you make us, people who see future in the dj and music composition role from the point of view of technology, something divine, who can push the boundaries of a whole century of technology advances even further, with heart, sould and mind connected trough past till future, showing that this are not just tools, but an extension of our souls, you, my friend, deserve a great thanks... never stop.

  • That is really cool. I've always found that jazz tunes are a unique challenge in mashups, since the tempo often subtly jumps forward or ahead. Excellent work.

  • Sweet!

  • Nick, this is just fantastic! You entered a new level of music composition and show a amazing crossover of neat Jazz music with newschool technology! And the design of you midi-controler is uniuqe and outstanding!

    Respect!

  • Great job

  • Is it possible to get a mp3 of your remix?

  • It's realy cool, specialy the mixing part (Y)
