  • love this song English or Spanish version that Nilsson sings. He was one of the underrated greats of music!

  • no language for this song!!!! es muy linda cancion

  • Wonderful! Beautiful! Touching!

  • great song !! jose jose singing in spanish this song

  • The song is divine. Harry Nilsson had one of the best voices ever.

  • This song made me cry the first time I heard it...I was 8....and that still hasn't changed....one of the few songs that reaches into the soul.....Mariah Carey did a great cover also.

  • No, it was later.

  • who is peter ham?

  • From Badfinger. Co-wrote this song in 1970. Covered by Nilsson, Mariah Carey, Il Divo, Leona Lewis etc.

  • Lip syncing

  • ay si noo!!!!

  • #1 of the best songs for life

  • hermosa cancion

  • he should've recorded one at his current age back than instead of going on stage and putting an old record on

  • He didn't like to perform live and by the 1970's he was mainly a studio artist. He did not tour to support the albums recorded then. Nilsson was a great artist but somewhat of a reclusive oddball.

  • Lip sync. Poorly done too.

A great song though sung with a visceral feeling by Nilsson. I just saw Clay Aikin perform this song on TV Guide. No dice Clay.

  • R.I.P.

  • Esta canción es inolvidable para mi, me recuerda mi niñez, mi adolescencia, la interpretación de Nilsson es única, lo admiro mucho.

  • Maravilhosa música que eu curti na minha infância e adolescência.

    Obrigada jesus, Anna Guess

  • Well you know - he looks shattered so yeah I guess he is miming because the voice belies his appearance. It is one of those rare occasions where the cover is better than the original and I think the guys from Badfinger acknowledged that

  • hes good tho!!!

  • The original version of Bad Finger and Harry Nilsson's the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song...!!!

  • Without You" is a song originally recorded by Badfinger for their album No Dice (1970), and written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans and produced by Geoff Emerick. Badfinger's recording of the song, which is more brusque than its successors' versions, languished as an obscure album track until it was noticed a year later by Harry Nilsson.

  • The year was 1972 and her name was Sharon. She was my first love. What a girl. I did live without her but I'll never forget her, thanks to Nilson. (ok with credit to Badfinger.....No Matter What)

  • doesn't matter whether he wrote it or not, nobody can or ever will be able to sing this song better than him/Nilsson.

  • Totaaly agree. Nilssson is the only person who can ever sing this song. It's not fair that others have covered this song all these years later and been given all the credit for something that was never theirs.

  • You mean Neilsson should get the credit for a song that isn't his?! We all know the story of Badfinger and 2 suicides partly because of this song. There is only one band who should get credit for this masterpiece. Unfortunately they aren't around to recieve it.

And whoever said Neilsson wrote this and sold it to badfinger should just leave.

  • Nilsson's version is THE version.

  • Badfinger is the original. Nilsson's is better and next to Carey's the standard.

  • The song called Without you is not Mariah Careys it is Harry Nilssons if u dont believe put his name on youtube and ull se it as old 80's rofl AND EVERY ONE THINKS THAT IT IS MARIAH CAREYS SONG. IT"S NOOOOT !!!

  • It is actually from Badfinger. Nillson did not like their version so he re-did it.

  • its not from Nilsson it's from badfinger

  • which year was it, approx?

  • Nice song, nice playback :)

  • in my opinion the best singer of this song.. too bad he's not the original singer though

  • but who is?

  • a band called badfinger

  • LOVE the shades Harry!!

    Rest Easy Beautiful Soul...

  • This was our special song George, from summer 1972. I still love you so very very much.

    Love Babe

  • What an artist, what a voice...!

  • preciosa canción, recuerdos de mi primer amor allá por el 72, gracias.

  • Summer 72. She was my first love and this song was "our very special song". But there was no happy end for this early teenager love. However, this song brings me back to this innocent love affair of summer 72 every time i hear it..

  • Every time I hear this song makes me very sad just to think in How a Magnificent talent like Badfinger just faded away not being recognized as true , Honest, fresh songwriters, Making a tragic end for the band.

  • YEAH J....PRETTY SONG thanks for post :)

  • This is such a beautiful song and I haven't heard it in such a long time so this is a special treat!

  • this was a hit when i was a kid, at the time it was a fav of mine, first time i have heard it for a while, great song, thanks..

  • This guy was the only guy who made sure badfinger got their royalty monies for this song everybodyelse screwed them

  • I did not know that. Thanks. What other hit songs has Nilsson sung?

  • Everybody's Talkin', Lime in the Coconut, Jump into the Fire, and 1941 are his most recognizable songs.

  • just remembering with this beautiful song, sometimes I feel so sad and lonely like a lost blue bird

  • The song in Goodfellas, when Henry is being followed my the eye in the sky, is titled Jump into the Fire" ... it is also from Harry Nilsson -- and what kick ass tune it is.

  • my = by -- duh

  • wenn ich mal heirate is das mein hochzeitslied!^^

  • Hermosa cancion llega al alma

  • Very good,but playback !

  • God what a great song this is

  • Awesome....nothing better than the original!

  • I prefer the original version which is this one.

  • This isn't the original.

  • I think you might be wrong. Can you tell me who sings the original if Nilsson's version is not the original?

  • No, it was written and originally performed by Badfinger. Nilsson heard it and then recorded his version after.

  • I've never heard this song performed by Badfinger. Where can I find the Badfinger's version?

  • There's a place called youtube where you can check out videos and stuff. They have a searchfield where you can type: badfinger without you. Try that.

Or you can check the related videos to the right.

  • and you could take that pole out your ass and learn manners

  • Thanks stripped187! I found "without you" by Badfinger and listened to it for the first time.

  • on a badfinger album

  • thanks

  • a band called badfinger sing the original song.

  • Mariah is a terible singer - she can't sing ONE NOTE by itself. Randy Jackson is a disgraceful so-called 'producer'. So there! LOL!

  • lol dude... we'll take that as a joke :P

  • If you like! :) Randy Jackson does suck the soul out of all his records though. ;)

  • Bad Finger wrote it but Harry surely did make this song his own.

  • who needs Mariah Carey? haha!

  • :Umbrella:

  • good!

  • Nessuno la interpretera' mai come la interpretava lui...

  • why is he miming this, with a voice like that he should be singing live

  • Means more for an online love than anything else....

  • I have schaldged the earth for this song!

  • though the cover from Badfingers,,,but that's even better!!! much better

  • who cares if its lip synced...this guy owns this song...excellent...carey does knock it outta the park...but its truly his song

  • Nope, Harry was lip-synching.The last time he could come remotely close to these notes was 1973. Listen to the Nilsson Schmilsson version - it's identical.

One of the greatest pop vocalists and songwriters of all time.

  • wsblevins: it isn't lip-synched, you can see his throat move, I'm a singer, too. His throat would not move at all were he doing that.

  • Clearly lip-synced but a great video of a great entertainer.

  • This song goes through my bones. Best Love Song ever written!

  • This was my mums song for my dad.

This is now my song for my husband

Id rather not live if its without him!!!!

  • its nice to hear someone who loves their husband that much! Bravo for you girl.

Amazing! I will add, i feel the same toward my wife! and anyone who thinks this is muchy muchy, you just dont know what love is!

  • great song by bad finger. Unfortunately they didn't live to see and hear it been sang by the world artists today. Still prefered the original track by bad finger. Wish they are alive today and see how their songs been popularized by harry nilsson

  • Cool dude to listen to after all these years.

  • Gosh, it´s so strange to put a face to this amazing classic song! He´s not cute but what a voice! Thanks 4 posting it, I thought that I wasn´t going to find it!

  • Greatest love song ever written by Tom Evans and Pete Ham of Badfinger

  • genius.

  • I've never heard a version of this song that I didn't like--Badfinger, Heart, Mariah Carey (not counting any of the 'Idol' shows)--but this, for me, is the finest version. Romantic, wistful and soulful. It's been among my favorite performances of any song in its genre since I first heard it, so many years ago.

  • RIP my friend Harry!! :(:(:(

  • The most heartfelt chorus ever!!

  • thinking wtf are people crazy bout? but the chorus' good, he does well. yeah, i can see it.

lennon drank this dude to death, didn't he? on that long lost weekend.

  • Estupenda cancion, simplemente genial.

    Saludos gracias por subirla.

  • Such a beautiful song!!

  • Great Peter Ham and great Tom Evans of the Badfingers!

  • I've been looking for this. He sings with so much passion.

  • guys i only remember harry nilson young but what happend to him.?? i think there is smth wrong with his face isn't it? i like harry nilson's version a thousand times more than mariah carrey's/ this song is his song.

  • omgggggggg what a voice bono take note:)

  • He died of a heart attack a few years back

  • Believe he was a heavy drinker. Died young. Think he's miming to this as well.

  • This is playback, isn't it?

  • yes, I'm sure of it ! but the song's great

  • Bet you know tries to sing this on karaoke....U know why? It's too damn hards to hit the chorus!! Beautiful song!!

  • Colin Blunstone recorded this but Mariah Careys version was released first. I think that with the voice that Colin has we would of had a true rival to Harrys hit .

  • Great Song...

  • there's just something about the way he hits the chorus that all the others who've tried to remake this song can't do.

    awesome song.

  • Yeah, I agree.

When he says "can't live" at the start of it, I think he sings it a lot sharper than the others who've done it or something.

You can definitely hear the difference.

  • Fat lip-synching asshole is a genius you moron. Fabulous songwriter with a beautiful voice. He had more talent in the hairs shed from his bull nuts than you could ever dream of...

  • aff He have one beautiful voice, but this no is live, and the others peoples liked, oh my god, everybody blind? kkkkkkk

this is funny, but he is god.

  • The original hit song with a great and original artist John Lennon admired so much to the point to produce him a record ("Nilsson Schmilsson's Pussy Cat"), but it was 1974 and the ex Beatle had been left by his lovely Yoko and that "lost weekend" ights found them both drinking heavy in LA bars that Nilsson couldn'd reach a note next day at the studio but, still, Harry surprised me always as a fantastic singer (listen to "Many Rivers To Cross", a jewel in that album).

  • sorry but the 2 main guys from Bad Finger wrote and recorded this and it was forgotten until Harry Nillson found the sheets on a piano and just started playing it; as he played, rearranged it anded the chorus and launched it into eternity of classics. Lennon had nothing to do with it. Harry died of heart failure later that year. The 2 guys from Bad Finger died within 2 years of writing the song by suicide. They said that Harry's version was much better and the definitive version. And it is.

  • thats not strictly true

Pete Ham commited suicide in '75 and Tom Evans hanged himself in '83

the song was written circa summer 1970

  • Pete Ham hung himself in 1975 and Tom Evans hung himself in 1983. Harry Nilsson died of heart failure in 1994. Tarff26 hit it on the head, get your facts straight before you post a comment.

  • Yeah, Pete Ham and Tom Evans hung themselves after suffering major financial strains. This song was supposed to be credited to them but their management ripped them off, took the song away from them and gave it to Nilsson to popularize.

  • we dont want to hear it! it takes away from the song and the meaning!

  • That was a response to a question that was asked, so get the facts before you deceide to post a comment.

  • I do apologize, i am so very sorry, i was just into the song, you know, involved, as I read the comments, i didnt think about you answering a comment, i just didnt want to break out of my tranquility listening to the song, and then face the facts at that time,

i do apologize, its just such an amazing song. i have been really bothered, feeling guilty about my comment, you are absolutely rite, i need to know the facts before posting a comment.

  • Thanks, and let's put it behind us. Take care and god bless.

  • thankyou and God Bless!

  • u jackass..dis waz taped a long as tyme ago..tha image aint insync wit tha sound..

  • This is the original record synched up to a live performance much later in his life.

  • This is the best ever version of this song.

    Its playback unfortunately.

  • i dont think this is live... i think he is appearing live but its a recording playing in the background like brittany spears once did and got cought when the recorded broke.

  • Harry did a fantastic version of this song, as much as I loved Badfinger his is much better, bring back the old music because there just simple isn't any now.

  • Now THIS is how this song should be sung. Harry was bloated and likely sick by this time. It is evident he is lyp-syncing. He was still the best. The man was simply amazing.

  • I cant beleave this guy stole this song from Mariah Carey went back in time and recorded it how rude.

  • hahahaha yes, Big No-No

  • I recognize it for the crazy commment this is! Live on!

  • Beautiful flasback, nice romantic times.

  • Original Nilson Schimilsson's song! He is from Sweden

  • Sorry Demohil, this song was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger.

  • Dont take drugs kids, look what happens!!!

  • What do you mean?

  • Yes we all know it's a badfinger song! Duh. and when they came into the studio and heard Harry they even knew it was how it should be done!

And yes we also know that he is lip syncing, but not cause he only sounds good in the studio... he used to sound good live! But look at him! He blew his voice out several years before this.

  • It-s not from Mariah Carey???

  • No it is orignaly from Badfinger, and Harry Nilsson made it a hit.

  • I don't think Badfinger actually recorded it though.

  • Yes. They did. It's on their album called "No Dice" from 1970.

  • My bad. Or Badfinger...LOL

Im only a casual Bfinger fan, I didnt know that. Id be willing to bet that Harry's version smokes theirs...

  • this isnt even his song its from a South Wales Band...Badfinger!!

  • Holy shit, he looks just like Dr. Gene Scott

  • Am I the only one here that realizes that he's lipsyncing? I'm a big Harry fan myself, but it's obvious that's the record you're hearing here - not his voice. .....I'm not even really sure that's Harry either. Looks more like John Candy.

  • well, yeah, he's lipsyncing. He had to be in his late forties here...he died when he was 52, so I'm thinking things were getting hard by this time. What an amazing talent he was. Still love him.

  • one of the great songs back then :D

  • awesome lyric, powerful, brilliant

  • goosebumps guranteed!!!

  • He could still kick ass on this song. Im sooo sick of kids thinking Mariah Carey sang this originally. LEARN YOUR MUSIC HISTORY!!!!

  • Damn straight! It's tough to be young. I have to deal with all my stupid, young colleages that think Nickelback is heart-felt music.

  • Of course, it was the band Badfinger that wrote and recorded this song originally. =)

  • this is the best version though

  • KEN LEEEEEEEEEEE

  • You prick. Carey is an excellent technical singer with great range but she is a souless bitch with no artistic talent. As Bill Hicks says...(she is a) 'sucker of Satans cock. Harry sings with passion, with emotion and with raw talent. He was an atrist with true value. RIP

  • You are a moron.

  • There is more to a song than just power. His voice is quite haunting and very emotional. That's what makes this version so special.

  • Mariah Carey? Are you kidding me? BWAHAHAHAHAHA... You kids are sooo stupid. Period.

This man is the man who really made this song pop out. A true passionate artist. MC is just another hollywood whore singer, im sorry.

  • To be sure, this is a wonderful pop ballad (thanks, Badfinger). But has anyone noticed that he is lip-syncing this to a studio recording? Harry's health was bad during the end and live TV performances back then were - well - not always live. I really prefer the Cd or cassette on this one.

  • This is, without a doubt, THE version of this song.

  • what a song, no one sings it quite like harry

  • Ibroke my heart to this song in March 1972 when i was 17 and my 14 year old girl friend Teresa Brooks said she did not want to go out with me . But 36 years later we have been married for 35 years

  • That's so beautiful!! xx

  • .Broke my heart to this as well....I was 16 and he was 21....and I never have got over him.....Have only just been able to lisen to this song after all these years.

  • joons2 - I hear ya - this song came out when I was in Vietnam - yeah, the war raged even in the early 70's - and this was a big hit with the guys - probably made a lot of us think of the girl that isn't writing....and maybe some we broke up with. Everybody gets hurt some time - and I am sorry for your sadness - maybe we all get to get over it before the end comes. Good luck.

  • spoken like a true poet :-)

  • lipsync lol..

  • does anyone know what year this video was done?

  • koliko sećanja i koliko bola u ovoj prelepoj pesmi!
