For my money the best song ever written by arguably the greatest songwriter this country ever produced. Had he lived a bit longer and gave us a few more albums we would be mentioning Ronnie Van Zant with names like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards whenever a list of rocks greatest songwriters was tossed out. Stuck in the worst place in the world (New York City) with everything riding on the next five weeks...and then I'll be gone from this place forever. Brings tears to my eyes as I think about driving from Asheville to Boone to Charlottesville, my southern girl, the mountains, the peoples, the streams, the rivers...there's no place like The South...no place like Appalachia. Took 1 hr to find keys in a plate of foodin the oven. I got to TCCC in time, but broke a bottle of scotch in the parking lot & had to drink vodka all night (among other refreshments as smoking was allowed in '74). R.I.P. Ronnie Van Zant., you had one of the greatest voices ever (band wasn't bad either)
