W.A.Mozart is still the best until today. No one after him had written Any thing new in the, musical phrase sense, and his Requiem is considered by many to be, "The" jewel in the crown of his opus.I'm sure that this sympathetic choir did their best, but it seems that they bit more than they could chew. Oh, all these fugues, they fell apart to peaces.I'm sorry to be so direct.
Bravo! While I'm not religious, I'd visit your church anytime to listen to such an amazing performance. Keep up the good work of enlightening the masses!
Nicely done... I am not going to say again there is not an orchestra.. I understand funding and all that in the church situation... Your accompanist is amazing.. that is a hard score to reduce on piano.. not to mention whoever said organ... it would be really difficult to accomplish realistic tempos with doing it on organ.. not impossible.. but not as percussive I think as Mozart would have wanted! KUDOS to you!
You guys did great! Don't let the blowhards that sniff about "professional" get in the way of the fact that your performance is from the heart. The speed in the beginning is exactly where it should be - I have two full choir/orchestra recordings of this piece, and you are right on. You get a little rushed in the Kyrie, but it is such a powerful piece that it is understandable. Same comment re Dies Irae. OboeQueen27 - you sure did ok!
I think it's fine. The only thing that really pisses me off is the piano instead of the orchestra! Understandable due to the lack of space and, I'm sure, lack of players, and a decent idea, but it justdoesn;t work with this pieceunfortunately, especially in the solo bits.
I think they did very very well, they are not professional, and sing the Mozart's requiem just listening the piano is not too easy, the pianist is very good too, its not everyone how can play requiem in the piano.
My senior year my high school choir actually got a chance to do the mozart requiem so I know it cannot have been easy for this choir to put do this piece. They put forth a good effort, they probably just needed more time to learn and understand the music.
Mozart lives in the music.I hate American interpretations.

blimey, it's not that bad. OK, not a professional choir, but who cares? Good going!

is this a church or high school choir. Little to no feeling put into the wonderful Mozart masterpiece. Bad soloists, too.

lordy! A classic example of the finest piece of music ever written 'Murdered' lol
XysteRST205 3 years ago
It's not the greatest, but I would not say that this was "Murdered". "LOL" as you say.
Anywho, the women were decent to skilled, but the men need alot more practice. The men did murder Dies Irae section.

I really like what your accompanist did. brought out all the main melodies of the accompanied part. Nicely done, truly.

A good pianist is 100x better than a bad orchestra in this kind of situation.

I feel bad and dizzy listening to this, though it's a good thing people post amateur performances as well.

Is this a university choir, I think so...
It would have been better with organ... more orchestral. :)

rather than saying "elei son" try singing "eleeee souuuun" it sounds stupid, i know... but it helps you avaoid those ugly "iiiiiiiii" sound.
