  • What a beautiful peaceful bike ride along that side of the dyke. River on one side, mountains on the other. I've seen bears, deer, cyotes, eagles, ducks and turtles all within a half hour. My back yard faces the hyde creek trail 5 minutes from the dyke trail and we have frequent bear sightings here. One climbed my fence last night, tore my garbage can across the yard and then left a huge "thank you" right by my back door. I love it here

  • hey are there bears in the new horizon/pinetree community of coquitlam ? because we are looking for houses in that area.

  • i live on burke mountain and i use to see bears all the time but since they started logging and putting up houses i haven't seen one in almost a year same with deer they're pretty scarce now 2 every anamil on burke is now. And im sick and tired of being woken up every morning to the noise of dump trucks and now there starting to put up houses across the street from mine. It makes me really sad seing what there doing to burke. :'(

  • That berry field is near Minnekhada Park by the looks of it. Living about 1/3 of the way up Burke Mountain (residential, not rural), I see bears 2-3 times a week. One even dropped a deuce on my lawn. Thanks, buddy!

  • You're spot on! That's where it is.. And yeah - black bears are a pretty common sight there especially in the fall.

  • i haven't seen any myself but i've heard of black bears here in PoCo im right by McAllister not sure where you did some of the filming because i never have seen that berry field before

  • those are tiny bears

  • Black bears get pretty fearless when it comes to getting food. My dad was taking the garbage out at work at night once and when he threw the bag into the dumpster a bear jumped out! My parents also had bears in their back yard frequently last summer. They live in Coquitlam.

  • Also, hello morons on bikes. Get off your bike. Put the bike between you and the bear. Do not approach the bear. Leave the area. Cripes.

  • @SarahSideEffect lol its not going to attack them

  • woops posted under my brothers account, sorry for that. replies to this post please he doesn't like me posting under his name haha.

  • Yeah it is pretty awesome. You dont see them all that often but here in the late summer they come down from the mountains to feed in the berry fields.

You never know how used to people they are - so those people on the bikes are, in my opionion, testing their faith.

Lots of people typically underestimate how dangerous they are - which makes them appear quite a lot on List_of_fatal_bear_attacks_in_North_America_by_decade on wikipedia

  • Sorry for the cursing by the way I can get a little too enthausiastic.

Anyway it's a good thing that the bears are still wild then. Don't think it's cool that people get hurt (however they shouldnt underestimate the bears) but it would be a shame if black bears living in the wild would be used to humans.

Anyway, awesome video and I don't know when, but I will one day come there to check it out myself!

  • That's so fucking awesome man! I wanna go there. All we got here in the wild are rabbits. But em... those people were cycling right in front of the bear.. Are they so used to humans that they don't attack them or run away or something? That would be a shame...

  • Well done, take care Allan, Hey from JJ Hansen
