  • Very Nice Radon (Rn) mitigation system! Rn will seep through just about anything. Also, with Ra-226, there's going to be Rn-222, which has a half-life of 3.8 days, the longest-lived Rn isotope. It doesn't seem like much time, but it's constant with Ra-226 decaying to Rn-222. There's many isotopes, like Rn-220, which has a half-life of 55 seconds, but these all decay into solids, like Polonium (Po), or Lead (Pb), which you already know I'm sure. What is the highest pCi/l dose you've ever gotten?

  • hello, nice mitigation system. where did you buy the radon detector? online or locally/ thanks.

  • @milidude ebay

  • how did you set that up??

  • cool! but that thing has got to be wasting MASSIVE amounts of energy. Both the energy to run the fan itself and the huge amount of heated air being pushed outside. As long as you maintain a very slight pressure differential between the inside and outside of the box, that should be all you need to keep all the Rn out. You could probably cut the speed of that fan by at least half and still be safe. You could use a small length of clear tubing bent into a U shape filled partly with water to do it.

  • @10mintwo Yeah. I reduced the fan speed and the radon reading has not changed so thanks for that.
