Bobby Massano I presume. I worked security @ CLUB 37 for your first gig in Syracuse8/24/1980. Since then I have had an audio recording of that show which I got from the guys @ 94 Rock. Last December at the Turning Stone was the first I saw Benny since that gig. Needless to say he was blown away when I put a double CD of that show in his hands. I will be seeing him @ The Turning Stone 12/13.

Bobby Massano I presume. I worked security @ CLUB 37 for your first gig in Syracuse8/24/1980. Since then I have had an audio recording of that show which I got from the guys @ 94 Rock. Last December at the Turning Stone was the first I saw Benny since that gig. Needless to say he was blown away when I put a double CD of that show in his hands. I will be seeing him @ The Turning Stone 12/13.

Into the Night will always remind me of a vacation in Florida when I was 16. I love this song and it still has an emotional impact on me now as it did then.

I still have my orig vinyl of the single and I still adore Benny Mardones. I always wondered why he didnt hit stellar heights with such an incredible voice and songwriting talent. I live in England now and no one here that Ive met has a clue about him or "Into The Night". Id love to be able to see the documentary and to finally see the man himself live. There are relatively few songs that really pack such an emotional punch for me - and "Into The Night" is top of the list. Thank you for posting.

Just read the liner notes for "Journey Through Time" and the story is that Benny is actually the one who said to someone else, after they commented on how beautiful the girl was "She's just 16 years old. Leave her alone." It's just a song folks.

I don't think he was a "pariah" due to drugs; I've heard he was just a very belligerent, unpleasant person. Fantastic voice though, one of the best I've ever heard.

True, but where I am it's 16...recently moved up from 14 (!) so no one here gave it any thought at all when the song came out - both times. Besides, the real story behind the song is not romantic or sexual. I know because I've heard and have friends who have heard the real story first hand from Benny himself.

Yes there is a documentary. Not bad either. I worked a gig for Benny way back in 1980 at Club 37 in Syracuse when Into the Night first hit. A nice guy but had a huge habit. Going to see him Saturday at Turning Stone. Email me.

...take a pill, god knows how most 16 year olds look a lot closer to 21 years old than they do 11. Be sensible for crying out loud. A 16 year old is not a little girl, at that age, many have already been burgeouning young women for several years...Sex ed was obviously above your head, maybe you should get your eyes checked or talk to a human biologist who can teach you that girls mature faster than boys.

You have to remember this song was first released in 1980 when people weren't so touchy and politically correct and you didn't have to watch everything you said so very closely. Plus, 16 is a legal age to not be statutory in many states.

I am from Syracuse and I grew up with Benny. I wish he would have put out Shela C as a cover song. I felt that was a better song. She so French was a great song as well. I miss seeing him in concert.

I just recently ran into this song -- yeah I know -- where was I in the 80s .. But anyway it is a guilty pleasure. Such a great song. But the first line is hard to get by. She just 16... Reminds me of pedophilia-- And the emotion at the end of the song reminds of Michael Jackson's passion to keep Neverland alive. Sorry. But the first line is a trip.

It is really sad that people call this pedophilia. This isn't a 12 year old we are talking about. This is a 16 year old, where in many states is considered the age of consent! We live in the "To Catch a Predator" age, where if an 18 year old has sex with a 17 year old, he has to register as a sex offender. You can tell we live in this age when they make these stupid comments in a perfectly innocent romantic song like this one!

He was born to be a "big Star" but at that time the people he choose to take care of his music did not work had enough to put him were he was suppossed to be, "up high." Also drugs play a big role in his life.

I mean just that..."Into The Night" is Benny Mardones' only national hit (albeit a great song). It hit The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart twice: first in 1980 when it peaked at No. 11, and again in 1989 when it peaked at No. 20, but it's still his only song to hit the national pop singles chart. The definition of a "one hit wonder".

I have only meet him twice, but he's the sweetest man and NO EGO, just the greatest. he was so kind, i went to one of his concerts, my camera was broken and he actually had one of his people get a camera just to take a picture for me, I never got my picture, but I did receive a call from him all the way from california, how many people would actually go to all that trouble for a fan??? not many, the guy is amazing!
