  • that wouldnt happen to be mr. 'no easy way out' from rocky 5 bobby tepper, would it?

  • Thank you for this upload...it is very moving! ;)

  • Never Knew Benny's Father was From Chile southAmerica although he's From Ohio!!

  • Up until a year or so ago I always thought Benny Mardones was a black dude.

  • Should have gave up the drugs and concentrated on his fabulous voice. I loved "Into the Night."

  • someone please tell me that benny isnt dead! ive never seen him before until today and ive been aware of his marvelous voice only . Please tell me that he's still around it would just break my heart to hear he's gone.

  • @traceymallard He appears to be alive. Unless someone else is taking care of his facebook page, he posted last on Friday. I think he's still kickin'.

  • @traceymallard in case you don't know Benny is alive and kicking as a matter of fact he is playing in Syracuse ny on dec. 3rd

  • he would have been great to play with journey when Steve left

  • Im getting tired of reading all your pedophile comments.. if you bothered to see his interview about the song you'd see its completely different.. a song is a subjective medium, Bcus a 33 year old man sung it it can't be about a boy and a girl?

  • Never heard of him, but Into the night is a really great song.

  • Benny is one of the nicest guys i have ever met, i used to D.J at a place called Colemans in Rome NY and he would come play our place frequently to sold out shows everytime, and right before benny hit the stage i would always make sure i was side stage because i knew when benny saw me he would always come up to me, give me a huge hug and say god bless you brother!! that to me was so special, god bless you benny because you are and always will be our All American Superstar!! Love you Brother!!...

  • A song you can listen to over and over and cherish as the first time you heard it...

  • My sister used to party with Benny in Syracuse. They were nice guys. I firmly believe "into the night" was one of the best love songs of all time. I never get sick of it.

  • This is going to end up being like Chinese Democracy and Duke Nukem Forever....

  • When is this going to be available? I can't wait to see it!

  • Benny is a true talent, his voice can crumble mountains and his lyrics are so passionate.

  • Beautiful song and amazing man . Thanks.

  • Hey Benny just wanted to say thanks for you. I love this song and when it was released i was 16yrs old and it was a heart changing song for me at that time. I really hope that one day you will once again come out with something new for us. Love ya and God Bless

  • Benny was a pedophile

  • Such a pretty voice, for sure that song is about a teenager love story. 17, 18 even 19 years old.just because he released that song at 33 it doesn't make him a pedophiliam.

  • @MininalaTorre 16 years old.

  • Benny aks Carlos Mardones, a Chilean full of dreams who did not hesitate to do whatever it took to get the money and leave Chile and make his dream come true in America... they say he is almost cured from alcohol abuse... good to hear... they say he is currently working for a public company here...they dsay he was abducted... whatever the truth is, Benny created a great song which is still one of the most played aroud the world.

  • @oneladymoonlight

Benny was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but raised in Savage, Maryland. -- Wikipedia article on Benny Mardones.

This is the 2nd time I read this "rumor" about Benny being Chileno (Chilean). Btw, my 1st wife is from Chile. And I was born in Cuba. And I DO love Benny Mardones; regardless of where he was born. And Into The Night has to be in the Top 10 best Love songs of ALL TIMES.

  • @jdtrickster4 Benny is half-Chilean. His father is from Chile.

  • Benny I hope u r well !!!! Still r great let's do a duet!

  • i must admit, he sounds a bit like a combination of steve perry and jimi jamison

  • Actually fucking a 16 year old is not that big of a deal. I'm sure 30% of high schoolers are fucking each other. I'm also sure that the older people who have their panties in a bunch used to fuck 16 year olds themselves when they were younger.

Get over it. When you're a 16-18 year old boy....you're going to fuck anything that'll spread. It's not a big deal.

  • @RapIsDeadly actually it is a big deal. it's called statutory rape.

  • @pondsofwonder 16 is legal age for consent in a number of states. Actually, one can interpret the song as someone infatuated with a beautiful 16 yr.old and not some perverted sleazy sicko pursuing young girls.

  • @asheyblacq even though 16 might be the legal age in some states, the idea of a grown man being "infactuated" with a beautiful 16 year old is borderline perverted. what good can come out of that?

  • Benny where r u it's Julie!!!!!!!

  • benny i love you forever! fan from brazil.

  • from Antofasta!!!!! chielan!!!!I love his song!!!I do not mind his drus use

  • he is a chilean!!!

  • For those who think Benny is so evil.

Ever hear the song YOUNG GIRL by Gary Puckett and The Union Gap? 1967

It was no big deal thenn.

If Gary Puckett had released his Young Girl in 1980 or later; The Moral Majority and all the Evangelical Nuts would have jumped on it and his music career would have been over.

Big difference between someone who has a crush as my aged mother used to have on boys in the 1940's and dangerous people who prey on children.

The devil is sometimes in Churches.

  • @trailboyus66

Muhammed fucked 7 year old girls because the Muslims say that was "normal" back then.

But how do you say the devil is in the churches??? The devils are in the mosques so get your facts straight.

  • @RapIsDeadly First of all how do you know so much about Muslims or any other religion? It's not the religion that makes the evil; it is the people and what they do with it. According to a Mormon friend of mine it was legal to kill a Morman in Missouri until 1977. What a horrid thing! The devil works through people and not empty mosques, churches,or an open field. Get your facts correct!

  • Is it just me or is this whole video running at 1 frame per second?

  • It's not just you. The video uploaded incorrectly. I was going to remove it, but then everyone started commenting anyway, so there seemed to be no point in taking it down

  • @jayladdin HALELLIUAH, YOU DIDNT REMOVE IT!

  • "Oh if i could fly,ill take you up and molest you into the night, and open you up and make you scream, make you scream"BEST molest song ever.

  • I loved this song when it came out in 1980, most of us dont get to live the highs of being a superstar with a hit song.

I never knew his story, but I think that the price of fame for some people is a huge burden and that the fall from a great height is a lot harder than from living an average life. At least hes still with us and I still rate into the night as one of my favourite songs.

  • This man is 33 when the song he had came out--and singing about an underage girl--shes just 16 years old--leave her alone they say (said). hello?? everyone fails to mention that. They love the song but hey listen to the lyrics. I think its sick

  • What a story..I can't wait to see this whole video. Is there a book out? God bless you, Benny, and thank you, Marly for letting me know more about this talented, courageous, and inspirational man!!

  • I remember working for a florist years ago, and, the station they played EVERY day played this song. I NEVER got tired of hearing it. It only reminded me how much I loved it! Thanks Benny!

  • @sparklingmichele I agree 100 % It was my 15th B-day I frist heard the song into the night (1980) And I still love it

  • Benny Mardones - Into the Night (Original Version) is my favorite. When I was student in senior college, Eau Claire Wi. 1980. I love this song. Kathleen Ann Collins this is for You.

  • You're listening to Delilah! ;)

  • lol...

  • Is this movie actually out yet? I would like to see it.

  • vivaaaaaaaaa chileee

  • I wrote to Benny an email for a long time ago and he didn't just answer it, he also took the trouble to send me a mp3 song as a gift.

I don't know Benny in person but I'm still felling he's very close to the people.

Thanks Benny for being the way you are.

    Greetings from Chile, Oscar.

  • Incredible tune , powerful chords - where did it come from?

  • bernardo mardones

    hijo de padre chileno

    viva chile!!

  • Great song.

  • Phenomenal.

An amazing story of one of the greatest voices in rock history and of one of the (to this day) most misunderstood songs of all time.

    LOVE Benny.

  • WOW I THOUGHT THIS GUY WAS DEAD!

  • no, no, no, Benny is alive!... he is not dead!,,,NO, ARE YOU CRAZY?

  • I am glad that not only is he alive, but apparently thriving...good for him!

  • I live in SC, and heard once on the radio here that Benny is from Anderson, SC...is that correct?

  • Benny!! Your amazing!! Christmas show at Turning Stone was the best! LOVE YOU!!!

  • On 95X..Turn it up!

    - Don Goergen

  • It's interesting to see all the comments. I played guitar on the Into The Night and the Never Run, Never Hide Record..

    Bobby

  • Bobby Massano I presume. I worked security @ CLUB 37 for your first gig in Syracuse8/24/1980. Since then I have had an audio recording of that show which I got from the guys @ 94 Rock. Last December at the Turning Stone was the first I saw Benny since that gig. Needless to say he was blown away when I put a double CD of that show in his hands. I will be seeing him @ The Turning Stone 12/13.

  • @pfmmusic1 you must be Bobby Messano then. I love the guitar solo in She's so french...

  • @pfmmusic1 Thank you, Bobby, for being part of such an extraordinary piece of music.

  • @pfmmusic1 WHICH ONE ARE YOU BOBBY ARE YOU AS CUTE AS bENNY WAS :)

  • Syracuse is my Home town!

    Love it....

  • Thanks for this video. Thanks youtube for being here to let use reconnect to our favorite Artist and Video's. Keep up the good work!

  • LOL

  • 'Into the Night'...A Classic and TIMELESS!Benny can be assured of that!

I wish him well wherever he is!

  • Another fantastic song that in my opinion should have been a huge hit for him was "she's so french" which was the b-side to the original "into the night" single back in 1980...

  • Dave....you from Syracuse?

  • No,I live in michigan...

  • Holy Crap -- SYRACUSE, NY!!!!!

    and 95X--TURN IT UP

I grew up there--it IS the rock n roll and musc capital-- but there are hardly any good jobs there!!!! More jobs --please I want to go home!!!!

Into the Night is one of my fav songs!!!

  • I worked securty at CLUB 37 8/1980 when Benny first played there.

  • how was the show?

  • did you ever see Benny live?

  • That's dalila she is 106.9fm from seattle yes

  • Into the Night will always remind me of a vacation in Florida when I was 16. I love this song and it still has an emotional impact on me now as it did then.

  • I still have my orig vinyl of the single and I still adore Benny Mardones. I always wondered why he didnt hit stellar heights with such an incredible voice and songwriting talent. I live in England now and no one here that Ive met has a clue about him or "Into The Night". Id love to be able to see the documentary and to finally see the man himself live. There are relatively few songs that really pack such an emotional punch for me - and "Into The Night" is top of the list. Thank you for posting.

  • muito bom!!benny mardones biografia history

  • Inspiring...

  • Just read the liner notes for "Journey Through Time" and the story is that Benny is actually the one who said to someone else, after they commented on how beautiful the girl was "She's just 16 years old. Leave her alone." It's just a song folks.

  • Niiice!

  • Sad to see all the hate post.I love this song if you lived in HELLywood, cali dont feel any of you could take the pressure Its a tough life I rate 24/7 and see many on here young ones many of them make more sense then the older ones postin on here. Gee would you rather have2 pay for use of this site cus soon its down thanks to GATES(jerk)Im headin bac2 Southern Ca, cus the Bay area being a native calif girl its so screwd up shows where real talent is the industry in La,ca shw love no hate luvU BM

  • I don't think he was a "pariah" due to drugs; I've heard he was just a very belligerent, unpleasant person. Fantastic voice though, one of the best I've ever heard.

  • who is benny mardonis?

  • What this hell stopmotion video documentary...

  • I just went back and read all of the comments. The song was probably written from a 19 years olds' point of view.

...and, by the way, 16 is the age of consent.

  • age of consent varies from state 2 state and country 2 country

  • True, but where I am it's 16...recently moved up from 14 (!) so no one here gave it any thought at all when the song came out - both times. Besides, the real story behind the song is not romantic or sexual. I know because I've heard and have friends who have heard the real story first hand from Benny himself.

  • Tks Tabby nice to see a positive post since I rate 24/7 and love this song.Who cares like one guy said what the beginning of the song says to me it meant alot between a love of my life who die pls no hate with this one only saying that when I hear this it always brings my now love thats gone to my mind,Music best medicine for pain, hate, hurt even lost love. pls keep hate/slam post to a mature way ok no hate love kills it.hugs to you Tabby;)

  • U r right. What's with the hate & judgement? Someone below says he deserved to die...what the heck is that about. Now, 4 all of u who think you know what the song is about, I know someone who saw Benny perform in Malibu last month & Benny told the real story & it has nothing to do with an older man having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old. Even if it did, what 33 year old man doesn't look at a beautiful 16 yr old girl & wish she were older or he were younger? No hate. Right on kecho21!

  • cool cuz I heard this song many times in grocery stores and one day i listened to the lyrics and it creeped me out....lol....well i am glad thats cleared up.....now all thats left is that Union Gap - Young Girl song 1968....very lolita

  • Benny Mardones is absolutely incredible! I'm glad he didn't pull the trigger. Thank God for Michael Lang.

  • He thought he'd be a paraih because of drug use? That wouldn't happen today.

  • I grew up in Syracuse and the whole Bennymania was a real thing. Even today, he sells out shows...

  • I always thought this guy benny mardones was a black guy. is he still alive?

  • Yes

  • I look forward to the gig on 12/8 at The Turning Stone Casino in Verona N.Y.

  • He should've disconnected the phone.

  • Wow - I can't believe that anyone on here has a problem with that first line of the song about her only being 16. I thought 16 was the legal age everywhere (is in Australia). Half the population is screwing around by the time they're 15 anyhow. Grow up you weiners.

  • True true.

  • EXACTLY...it's just one of at least 8 million things the powers that be here in the US do to keep us under control. anywho, still a great song that will never go away no matter what happens...

  • Didn't Britney Spears lost her virginity at age 14?! 16 was the age of first loves, of exciting summer flings, this song is amazing at capturing what you feel at such a young age. What a masterpiece of a song!

  • is there really a documetary about Benny Mardones? I would love to see it.....oh, and why so much love for Springsteen....his music sucks....although I do like "Hungry Heart."

  • Yes there is a documentary. Not bad either. I worked a gig for Benny way back in 1980 at Club 37 in Syracuse when Into the Night first hit. A nice guy but had a huge habit. Going to see him Saturday at Turning Stone. Email me.

  • Castingtherunes-- I meant to say you are 50 and you act like you are 15 -- but the punchline is kinds ruined now- but anyway... Who are you Mike Tyson? Talking about eating children... That is just wrong. My guess is that you are divorced, do not have custody of your kids and you drink bitterness every night. Good day.

  • Ah... OK. Castingtherunes... Tone it down, brother. You are almost 50 and you act like you are 50. And sorry folks about the Mississippi crack-- I should have said Alabama

  • "She's just 18 months old, leave her alone, they say..."

  • 16 years old not 18

  • I don't understand why Americans are so shocked about this. Actually, most Americans get shocked about everything, so what the hell (i'm not calling you bourgeois). I guess age matters less in France?

  • great singer and song but when i hear benny i think of the jets. A bit of hyperbole here

  • excuse me what r u on me 4? 2 st somethin tak a look at your site a yr old with zero on it, if I were u instead of playing the hate game get the blank off be4 u get thrown off, if u do hav any teens fel sori for them whoever u r.your the vert look at your site blank thgs that make u go humm.

  • sorry if you are a big Benny fan kecho-- that first line is a little bit curious- but good song-- I was just reacting to some of the comments here that were trying to condone a grown man taking an underage girl into the night... if you don't agree you should move to mississippi

  • Hey jackass. I live in Mississippi, and that stuff doesn't go on here like you think.

  • Funny here in Calif its here too:)who the heck cares this is bout a song rating not Dr Phil hr.Teef since Im a theripist sick at home its why I do ratins to help the sub get more awards:)If you have a prob with your teens believe me it starts at a much younger age try 2yrs, by the way lobo thanks for the lol,I needed one today sory not a vert only feel sory for anyone to slam any state, now days young girls are getting older guys into probs the way they dress should we slam parents?grt job Benny!

  • This has been a wonderful vid to watch. I'm hoping his star will be rising brightly once again and I know what he's saying about answered prayer so who knows what great things are on the horizon for him? God bless, Benny, and carry on!

  • Vidlivs, You need to take a damn pill...All that ranting over some old song.Makes me wonder..what's really going on..with you..."Shut The Fuck Up".

  • ...take a pill, god knows how most 16 year olds look a lot closer to 21 years old than they do 11. Be sensible for crying out loud. A 16 year old is not a little girl, at that age, many have already been burgeouning young women for several years...Sex ed was obviously above your head, maybe you should get your eyes checked or talk to a human biologist who can teach you that girls mature faster than boys.

  • too bad "into the night" have no offical video clip!

  • DELIALAH yeap she is from seattle

  • You have to remember this song was first released in 1980 when people weren't so touchy and politically correct and you didn't have to watch everything you said so very closely. Plus, 16 is a legal age to not be statutory in many states.

  • Very true, political correctness is ridiculous today. People can't even state the obvious without someone claiming that it's offensive. Would it really be a better song if the first line was "She was 18 years old." It just doesn't have the same ring to it. Nowadays you'd have some guy singing "He was 12 years old" and politically correct special interest groups would call it free speech. You tell me what's worse...

  • Benny Mardones: "Illegal Downloads Out of Control"

New York, NY -- American pop singer-songwriter Benny Mardones, best known for the hit single "Into the Night," which hit the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 in 1980 and again in 1989, has joined a growing national campaign of artists against illegal Internet music filesharing. Benny Mardones & the Hurricanes will appear Saturday, June 23, at Dulles State Office Building Auditorium in Watertown, visit his MySpace site Benny Mardones 866-468-7619.

  • Does anyone have a video of Mardones singing, Into The Night, live?

  • Benny ROCKS!

  • I am from Syracuse and I grew up with Benny. I wish he would have put out Shela C as a cover song. I felt that was a better song. She so French was a great song as well. I miss seeing him in concert.

  • the female announcer is DELIALAH

  • I like the song, but when I hear she's just 16,

    I'm thinking Perv.

  • It's written from a high school perspective, like the classic Sam Cooke song ... she was only 16.

  • If he'd said 14 or younger, I'd think perv too, but 16, not so much.

  • I just recently ran into this song -- yeah I know -- where was I in the 80s .. But anyway it is a guilty pleasure. Such a great song. But the first line is hard to get by. She just 16... Reminds me of pedophilia-- And the emotion at the end of the song reminds of Michael Jackson's passion to keep Neverland alive. Sorry. But the first line is a trip.

  • How old was he in 1980? Age doesn't mean anything. A friend of mine started dating a 16 year old girl when he was 24. 7 years later they got married and are still together to this day.

  • that's cute

  • teef1027: Get your mind out of the gutter and step away from the celebrity magazines, the internet and the TV and go out and experience life. To even be thinking about Michael Jackson in reference to this song only shows that your brain is saturated with malarky you pick up from what the media feeds you. Start thinking for yourself.

  • HaHa -- FredericaBimble it is funny you say that about the media-- I am the media -- I work for CNN -- nice song-- but like I said that first line gives me the creeps-- forget Jacko- it reminds me of a line they would sing on the Texas Polygamist compound -- "She's just 16 years old ..." Haha

  • Yikes. Someone else thinks so too.

    Still, a very good song.

  • It is really sad that people call this pedophilia. This isn't a 12 year old we are talking about. This is a 16 year old, where in many states is considered the age of consent! We live in the "To Catch a Predator" age, where if an 18 year old has sex with a 17 year old, he has to register as a sex offender. You can tell we live in this age when they make these stupid comments in a perfectly innocent romantic song like this one!

  • Peter Criss is singing

  • I love that song 'Into the night', I was inspired to writing a story sort of based on the song and sort of like the story behind it.

  • I love that song, but I am still amazed at how he took that one hit and ran a looooong way with it.

  • I worked security at his show 8/24/1980 @ CLUB 37 in Syracuse. I've been a fan ever since.

  • im 20 years old...but i love this song...

  • what does ur age have anything to do with it?

  • He was born to be a "big Star" but at that time the people he choose to take care of his music did not work had enough to put him were he was suppossed to be, "up high." Also drugs play a big role in his life.

  • To me the video is wonderful but you will make someaone happy if you post the complete video

  • Esp. since the film doesn't appear to be in print on DVD right now.

  • Can you say "one hit wonder"?

  • what do you mean with "one hit wonder"?

  • I mean just that..."Into The Night" is Benny Mardones' only national hit (albeit a great song). It hit The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart twice: first in 1980 when it peaked at No. 11, and again in 1989 when it peaked at No. 20, but it's still his only song to hit the national pop singles chart. The definition of a "one hit wonder".

  • That man has got to have the biggest ego.

  • I have only meet him twice, but he's the sweetest man and NO EGO, just the greatest. he was so kind, i went to one of his concerts, my camera was broken and he actually had one of his people get a camera just to take a picture for me, I never got my picture, but I did receive a call from him all the way from california, how many people would actually go to all that trouble for a fan??? not many, the guy is amazing!

  • fuckuamerica: ...but he's American!?!

  • sorry, i have nothing against americans,i just had a hell of a time trying to come up with a name on utube, this one seems to have worked, but will change it soon. i love the states. especially new york, it's a great place! no harm intended. sorry :(
