I'm indonesian, I've trained in kyokushin karate. So if i would create a new style of martial arts and call it blablablaalbalbal karate, does it make my style suddenly be 'pencak silat 'just because I'm indonesian? No it's still karate. right!!
So all you idiots saying this is tkd because oyama was korean are talking nonsense. Oyama never trained tkd in the 1st place, but a form of kempo/kung fu while living in china when still little. Perhaps some other korean style in korea but not tkd!!
i dont give a shit if he was korean or japanese. All i care he is one of the best martial artist there ever has been, n the founder of kyokushinkaikan. Stop arguing about whats his etnicity or nationality.duaaaaah -__-
@FaridYM Kinda surprises me that very few people ever make the simple point. He wrote two books "What is karate?" and "This is karate" both being guides for training in Kyokushin. Oyama intended Kyokushin to be a karate.
@FaridYM I just reread it and realised it didn't. I thought your comment was in response to the whole 'he's Korean therefore it's TKD' argument. You made an excellent point, Where you come from shouldn't matter a squat compared to what you do.
mas oyama studied judo and karate extensively after traveling to japan.the same as sang sup chun(founder of jidokwan)who obtained the rank of shihan in shotokan karate under master funakoshi and obtained high rank in judo.jidokwan as it is meant to be practiced is very similer to kyokushin.i have been studying jidokwan for 4 years.
ehmm Ozawa is a japanese pornstar for your information, we're talking about Oyama here who's the founder of Kyokushin karate. could be a spelling mistake though, just so that you know
It's a simple fact that Mas Oyama is Korean. He was born in Korea to Korean parents. He picked up karate while studying in a Japanese university. Read his autobiography or other books, man.
You are right that it was founded by a Korean, but that doesn't mean it is Tae Kwon Do.Besides, there are many other Korean arts. And honestly, TKD and Kyokushin are quite different from each other. They each have their own distinct styles and strengths. And this video is no Tae Kwon Do.

This is a very poor demostration of Kobudo and self-defense. Look for Okinawan Kobudo and you see the real Kobudo.

These are standard Jujutsu techniques. Nothing Korean about it. And yes, while Ozawa was ethnic Korean, he lived and worked in Japan.

whether mas oyama is japanese or korean is still unknown...don' they the rumor fool u.
but even if mas oyama, or choi baidae is a korean,
it don' change the fact that kyokushin is japanese,
not korean...(does kyokushin sound korean or japanese to u?)
another example: sho-lin Kung Fu developed
based on the indian martial art form, but it don' mean
that sho lin is indian kung-fu, it's jus chinese.
p.s. i myself a TKD practioner

Actually it's an established fact that Mas Oyama is Korean. He was born in Korea to Korean parents. He just picked up karate while studying in Japan.

man this is totally tae-kwon-do, japanese ppl do kyokushin even though it was founded by a korenan.
korean tae-kwon-do is very similar to kyokushin but don't get them confused.
