@justanamelol6969 I would def get EFI Live. I'm 24 and getting my transmission done this week. Suncoast Stage 4. You get alittle power and you don't stop adding it.
@XxClemsonTigersXx All depends for the fi Live. I paid 500 for EFi live in my silverado with the Vortec LS engine in it. That is for the custom tune and the EFI scanner. What ever you pay it is well worth the money. Once you delete all factory setting's it is an entirely new truck. Bully Dog, super chip's, Diablo and so forth are junk. They only do so much for your truck and barely do what EFI live does. If you get it, you will know what I mean.

the only reason they smoke is because they are going throught the combustion cycle so fast the engine compensates by throwing ridiculous amounts of fuel into the engine. and if you were smart the cat and the egr you said were being " sooted up" are generally removed when you mod a diesel. so obviously you dont know anything. and you cant " fix" a smoke problem you can enhance it. bigger/ more turbos = more air= less smoke= more power.

You have a serious ECU fault, it's injecting far too much diesel than can be ignited. That's why it's coming out as black smoke. Get that fixed and at maximum power it will not smoke. All you are doing is damaging the turbo, EGR, exhaust valves, CAT etc etc. You're sooting them all up and causing premature wear by injecting the excess diesel. Smoke means your engine is broken, so get it fixed and you will have more power and torque. SMOKE=BROKE. Learn about engines and don't be a victim.

efi live is not a programmer that preloads tunes or anything its customized parameters you go in to the computer and edit the stuff yourself and make your own tunes pretty much but you could very easily run the fuel rail dry with efi
