  • whatever you guys say, lapu-lapu defeated a group of people although tired and hungry but have rifles and cannons at their disposals not to mention iron breastplates . . ..

  • @ianehud a rightful death to the men stupid enough to wear iron breastplates in the philippines then

  • Lapu Lapu cut magellan's head off

  • mas maganda ito maganda den yung muay thai. go philippines!!!!!

  • I like Fight Quest better, so pppbpbppbpbb!!!

  • yeaaha!!! PINOY FOR LIFE!!

  • I love Eskrima .....& it hurts like hell

  • How come this is so lethal but they cant take down 1 former cop taking hostage of a bus?

  • @FavouriteRoflcopter military eskrima and police eskrima is nothing compared to shool or club trained eskrima

  • @FavouriteRoflcopter Totally, Philippines SWAT teams fail and it cost the lives of those on board the bus =(

  • Filipino martial arts is one of the most lethal. If its not, The Human Weapon nor Fight Quest would not bother to feature it.

  • hell yeah!!!!!!!!! Eskrima along with other martial arts such kali, silat, etc is so underestimated

  • Any form of fighting is effective if those who practice it knows how to use it well whether its kali, karate, wing tsun or even taekwondo. Its takes brains and skills to make any martial art effective.

  • every martial art has there advantages excrpt ufc thaat is a game that why i am a black belt in karate and going to start krav maga ufc sucks haven't u realize that the each fighters are train in 2 certain martial arts and stupid fools just want to do MMA without realizing that

  • i'm like 1/8 filipino born in cebu even but i hadn't studied this yet. that's how volatile it is over here...

  • 3:43 Bi%$@ smack

  • i tell you!! mountain people who practice this are more deadly than a normal practitioner... here in Philippines mountain people rule in terms of ancient arts.

  • i just have a small correction. Ferdinand Magellan was a Portugese. hahaha. but he explored under the flag of Spain.

  • @booringdude069 Also important to note, he's been in the area 21 years before he "discovered" the Philippines. Also important, the kingdom of Luzon (吕宋國)started diplomatic relationships with Portugal also 21 years before the Philippines were "discovered". That's how they could talk to the natives. Third fun fact, most of Magellan's men were already dead, those surviving were weary. Only 21 soliders were left. Lapu-Lapu on the other hand, just returned from battle and had an army at his disposal

  • @GaolisVideoLog There is no such thing as a kingdom of Luzon. But there were Rajahnates and tribes scattered all over Luzon. The existence of the so called Empire or Kingdom of Luzon is a hoax. Much like the code of kalantiaw that tragically taught in schools during and well beyond Marcos' time. Although there are records (Portugese records) that Portugese made contact with the "Luzones" (people of Luzon) "atleast" a decade before the Spanish even set foot in Luzon.

  • @SenkanYamatoMaru There was one single Rajahnate, the thalassocracy of Maynilad founded 1500 by Sultan Bolkiah. The rest weren't Rajahs. References to 吕宋国 can be found in the Ming annals, the Japanese chronicles as well as the reports from Portugal. However, an "empire" Luzon is ridiculous. It was on the pol. periphery. You can tell already coz ppl only talked about trading routes that pass by that place. However, what add. supports that theory are Hokkien place names like Vigan, Tondo or Lihan.

  • @GaolisVideoLog Rajahs in all effect and essence simply is translated to a "King"..."What is in a name???" Rajah Humabon was not a Rajah by reference of the Chinese records since the chinese historians didnt seem to think so? Is that what you are saying??? The Spanish seem to think that he is a King/Rajah? So where does that leave the argument? The Portuguese records speak of "luzones" who do not have kings but are ruled by chieftains. They are probably Pampangos and not the Tagalogs.

  • @GaolisVideoLog In fact the Potugese reported that the "Luzones" were trading in Melacca and that the Malays hire "luzones people as mercenaries for their fierce fighting ability...If your referring to the Sanfotsi and the Toupo records, The Chinese annals were vague in their record entries. No one really knows for sure where those locations are, only theories and speculations...I like the way you argue...you present references...But it does not have the context I'm looking for to be convinced.

  • @SenkanYamatoMaru Sir, are you a Pilipino? If so, do you live here in the Philippines, and Where did you get your informations regarding Filipino history, specifically the Pre-Spanish Philippine history, I am very interested reading more about Philippine/Filipino pre-Spanish history, want to read more about our history... could you kindly give me your references, preferably books and authors, so I could find them and read them with my own eyes... eagerly waiting for your reply sir.

  • @banyohazard69 Yes, a Filipino. I am a student of history and I do not mean I'm a pupil. Much of my argument over this kingdom of Luzon can be verified by doing basic research on the internet. Although I was privileged to read/view some historical Malay annals courtesy of some close friends in Malaysia and Indonesia, you do not need a Phd in history to have access to the points I made in my arguments...Most of it anyways. Read @arucons argument. He makes excellent points. Historically correct

  • @banyohazard69 Another thing...Wikipedia is not a reliable source of facts. It is good to read Wiki as a "Base" to do your research but do not take everything written there as gospel. What you can do is check the links of the purported "sources" of the info. Sometime people just post references there that do not actually contain what they entered in Wiki. A hoax ika nga...Katulad ng Empire/Kingdom of Luzon na yan. Another BS is the so called "Code of Kalantiaw". It was a hoax!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SenkanYamatoMaru I already know that Wiki is an unreliable source sir, I was asking you if you had some book titles with authors that would help me in my reading about Philippine/Filipino (pre-spanish) history; I am into Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis,Kali,Eskrima) and I am fond of reading about Philippine history (pre-spanish), I think we the next generations of Filipinos should re-discover our peoples history to bolster true pride and honor among our people and eradicate colonial mentality.

  • Comment removed

  • @banyohazard69 Good...I think I'm a bit ahead of your generation kid but I like younger people like you who studies pre-hispanic history. For me it's not because I am ashamed of my hispanic hertige, which I am not, but because it is part of who we are. history in Phils is mostly about during and post colnial times. As if the Filipino as a race or group of people never existed before. I got interested in it when I was about ur age and I had the chace to read Indo and Malay manuscripts...

  • @banyohazard69 I came to the realization that we were part of a much greater culture which is the Malay peoples before the Spanish came. Anyways. Most of the books I've read were very old dont even remeber some of the titles. I do remeber "barangay" By William Scotts...Also Maria Christina Halili book just do not remember the title. her book tackles some of the hoaxes and the BS pre hispanic histories "invented " by idiots to make Phils history flowery.

  • @SenkanYamatoMaru Thanks for the useful info regarding the books and authors sir; I think that it is essential that we Filipinos rediscover our roots and "real" history as a people, so that we could move forward as a country and as a people, nowadays the Asian countries (our neighbors in the region) are getting more prosperous at the same time building on their respective identities as a peolple and as a country and all this is possible because they know who they are; it's time we discover ours.

  • @GaolisVideoLog lots of recurring 21-s there. Coincidence? I think not!

  • @GaolisVideoLog 1st part - And another thing my friend, to quote what you wrote "Also important, the kingdom of Luzon started diplomatic relationships with Portugal also 21 years before the Philippines were "discovered". That's how they could talk to the natives."...I don't know where you got this one but the reason why the Spaniards can speak with the natives is because they had a translator. A SUMATRAN name ENRIQUE who was Magellan's slave...

  • @arucon At last someone who is versed in "written history"...kudos to you my friend.

  • @GaolisVideoLog 2nd part - The Spanish had CLEAR RECORDS stating that the island natives understood a certain level of "MALAY". It was in fact the "lengua franca" of the region according to the Spanish. The Malay peoples in what is now the Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines can communicate using the neutral language which was an older version of Malay. ThAT IS HOW ENRIQUE was able to translate for Magellan AND NOT because the natives spoke Portugese. To begin with Portugese IS NOT Spanish!

  • @GaolisVideoLog Part 3 - Again there is NO STRONG EVIDENCE TO SUGGEST A Kingdom of Luzon but there were in fact records, from the Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and even Arab records that there were KINGDOMS in luzon and all the other Islands in Pre-Hispanic Philippines, albeit small, they were kingdoms as they were ruled by people who call themselves Kings or Rajah or Lakan...

  • does this actually work? Im still a firm believer of muay thai fighting

  • @boipinoi604 Please specify your question and I'll be happy to answer.

  • @GaolisVideoLog Is it practical to disarm an assailant armed with a knife or would it be safer to give him your wallet?

  • @boipinoi604 It's always safer to give the guy your wallet. A few years back, the french police special forces invaded a home of some islamists in Paris. One of them got stabbed with a knife and died. Knives are very dangerous. But to your question, You first learn how to fight with a knife and will spent at least a year doing so, before you learn some defensive techniques. This way, you know, how a knife works. Only fight against an armed guy if you've no other chance.

  • @GaolisVideoLog You're right.. Fighting against an armed guy should be the last resort... I watch these videos and think that it's like regular thing to do since they train so much of it

  • @GaolisVideoLog Would like to see it tested at the ultimately proving grounds..UFC!

  • @boipinoi604 UFC is this unarmed "Ultimate Fighting Championship" originated in the west, right? Arnis is a primarily weapon based system, most of the time you're dealing w/ situations where either you or the other guy or both are armed w/ at least a stick, a knife, a machete or a combination of these. The focus is different. I think you want to see Yaw-Yan in there. Not Arnis.

  • @boipinoi604 UFC is a sport for entertainment. eskirma, kali or arnis is a far more extreme way of fighting. its an art and a fighting form combined.. this is not for entertainment , this is for ones survival...

  • Comparing eskrima with UFC is like comparing boxing with Kendo. An eskrimador fights with weapons and bare hands on only if he is disarmed. Hand to hand combat with Eskrima focuses on fighting with an "armed" opponent who can kill you with one blow as opposed to UFC or Pride fighitng, etc where one blow is not enough to kill you. If you want to test Eskrima, go get yourself a knife or a sword the try to attack an eskrimador. Then perhaps you will see how "ineffective" eskrima is.

  • @SenkanYamatoMaru why you say so that "ESKRIMA" is ineefective? have sparred an eskrimador?

  • @cOLnzkiE That's called sarcasm, sweety. He really said that eskrima is effective.

  • @GaolisVideoLog

Explaining sarcasm with sarcasm? How sarcastic! ;)

  • @boipinoi604 this is more effective than you think.

  • @boipinoi604 so am i. kali/muay thai actually has influences of muay thai - kicks n shit. i practice both arts. its just that kali is more along the lines of street fighting (finish it as soon as possible) muay thai is more sport. but i enjoy practicing them both.

  • @justincredible418 Muay thai is crazy.. If I got into a fight with some random guy I would much rather hope that they are a taekwondo master than a muay thai fighter.

  • the more unstable the place, the more brutal the fighting, I've observed, particularly here in asia. most of those fighters back in the states have a lot to learn from in eastern arts..too bad judo and karate get all of the attention...thanks to hollywood

  • @mallcorekidsdie i think that eskrima/kali is more mainstream. they just don't advertise it as such. in movies like 300, bourne identity/supremacy/ultimatum, kick-ass,equlibrium,book of eli. the hunted, quantum of solace etc... it is used.

militaries of the u.s. etc... incorporate it coz it is very efficient and intuitive specailly for close quarters combat. it's a complete art though it's really for killing. i don't know if it could translate well to sports/competition such as the ufc or mma.

  • @fingertapper1 I agee..and its amazing for self defense..or offense when you're without a gun. to use in MMA, or for this jason charater to step in the ring like its MMA is a foolish approach. it takes more than a little holiday tour with jason and bill to come close to amstering this art.

if you watch krav maga, do they not have some fo the same motions applied?

  • This guy looks like Jason Chambers.

  • @drjuste it is jason chambers

  • what is pretty jokes about this episode is that the master they met up with in the market had like no accent. lulz

  • @pinoyhellahoy I have no accent. Neither does my cousin. Depends on where you grow up at and in what surroundings.

  • @GaolisVideoLog good point.

  • this martial art is really effective, esp in the street, it has good reach fast effectve, you dont just train with the stick, they teach u empty hand against hand or hand against knife, so even if u dont have the stick, u can still defend urself against an opponent, ESKRIMA also teaches u locks and TAKE DOWN DEFENSE like BALIOG POMALE against styles like jiu jitsu

  • This is what I love about Silat and Eskrima they are violent out of necessity and they have kept their violent heritage unlike Karate that got watered down for sport :(

  • dont mess with us filipino or else

  • so eskima is chop suey asian martial arts?...lol jke

  • haha 2:40 fat dude with helmet...looks like an anime character

  • He got spanked at 3:44

  • fight quest is so much better

  • These white dudes are so dumb.

  • id hate to fight one of these guys back home lol

even the best street fighters here in the U.S

cant compare to the ones in other countries

especially in the philippines, because were used to

fighting for pure survival, and family vs family street fights

  • My Physcial ED teacher in high school was an arnis grandmaster.....

  • can u at least put this in hq? thnx

  • the punching drill looks like wing chun.. in my opinion

  • Eskrima is really great for learning angles and ranges, learn some or even a little to compliment whatever else it is you're using. Some of the movements feel like they're from wing chun and tai chi chuan, real nice.

  • LAPU LAPU PWNED FERDINAND MAGELLAN ON THE WAR LOL

  • @GANSTA6033 yes he did defeated magellan but lapu lapu ,,was i think used a poisoned arrow

  • in one philippine show,it was said that kali or eskrima was used by our first hero here in war........and that war was between ferdinand magelllan and our hero, lapulapu from mactan cebu in the philippines.....

and i know that because im filipino

  • Funny, it seems like a no-nonsense martial art, but watching it happen seems more like somethign out of a movie.

  • man this show doesnt even come close to fight quest...

    oh well thanks for uploading

  • makes me proud 2 be fillipeno 2

  • i love being an escrima warrior :) i train at pima academy withmy dad. its just amazing with all the thing u can learn from this sport

  • makes me proud to be filipino :)

  • I've read in the newspaper that Leo Gaje is the trainor of the Special Forces of Russia.

  • what is Jason doing @ 6:00 that's definitely not escrima....he looks pretty foolish with those hand tricks or whatever that shit is

  • Why do they call in 'eskrima' here and 'kali' on Fight Quest?

  • @larryofthelemurs It´s different Systems but they are basically teaching the same stuff...

  • "Labai" is a visayan( side filipino language) word meaning "to throw" too! :)

  • Escrima and Pananandata are some of the hardest training I've ever done and also, probably top-ranked as well.

Brutal training, brutal techniques. Escrima is ultimate!

  • in escrima do you use one or two sticks??

  • @aaronon1 it depends but can be played wih two sticks or only one stick. :D

oh yeah i know this cause im a filipino LD

  • @aaronon1 in eskrima you train with many different length weaponry. training can go from empty hands to stick and dagger to double dagger to double stick to dagger and sword to sword and stick to knife and and sword or any of the above just by themselves. it looks very nice and fluent as a 'martial art' but believe me eskrima was created to deal lots and lots and lots of heavy damage to your opponents tools (tools being your arms and legs)

  • So those are waht those sticks are called! My grandpa has a stick like that and used to beat me with it when I was disobedient.

  • "It's like learning a cheer-leading routine with weapons"

"...what high school did you go to?"

    Whoa. lol

  • That Labai move is just beautiful

  • try this, its fun.. real fight

    Filipino Combat Knife Fighting

  • there is a difference between pride and hubris. you suffer from hubris. that is not to be proud of.

  • @11bricko34 your a fagget

  • Hey, do Pinoy people have any issues with Malaysia and Indonesia? I always hear they hate each other.

  • Not that I know of. Maybe that's just you. I have a bunch of Pinoy friends.

  • @ranger3600 no, Indonesian are very welcome here in Philippines and so do we in Indonesia

  • @ranger3600 no!! definitely not..

  • not really. filipinos, malaysians and indonesians all have malay roots, so i hardly doubt that.

  • uhh no... hahahaha!!! :DD

  • nah

  • depends on what island you come from really. mostly malaysians and indonesians are welcome.

  • eskrima-traditional fighting style of the philippines, the best in terms of offence, alllllll time killing martial arts

  • ANthony Bourdain says Kali Warriors are blessed with the best Pork out of all human weapons and fight quest !!!!

  • weee! !! !

    i'm amatuer at eskrima!!proud 2 be Pinoy!!!

  • WOOOOH! PROUD TO BE PINOY!

  • dont fuck with filipino guys!they fight with no fear!

they even eat pepper or what they call sili(wich is very hot)

  • @kenshin9518 you filipino?

  • @FuzorDragon480 half

  • @kenshin9518

    Dude your stupid

Just because those filipinos have the skills doesn't mean you have one

  • @poofkaboom i have skills.ive been training escrima and karate....you?

  • @kenshin9518 sili is just chili pepper

  • @kenshin9518 Yup.....that's us!!!!

  • Actually in Wing Chun you hit and block at the same time in most occassions.Wing Tsun is a branch of Wing Chun. The two systems differs in that Wing Chun tends to be more traditional.Wing Tsun in the other way differ in the stances of the body at that it has some new principles, witch can include even ground fighting and Eskrima tactics. Both of the systems is effective.Personally i have trained in Wing Chun and i have a 5th level grade.

  • I always thought "Wing Tsun" was like some German way to spell Wing Chun or something =P

    Are you sure it's different???

  • no one cares ka dyan..ULOL!!MANAHIMIK KA!

  • WTF likes a kiddie cunt

  • fuck off idiot

  • it's official.arnis a.k.a eskrima is now the national sport of the Philippines!

  • Batista trains under this martial art...

  • shut up no one cares

  • Escrima means fencing in Spanish.

  • spanish people comes us and teach some of your language(invasion)

  • @michaelkaliber they invaded mexico also and all of S America.

  • think so

  • you're not kidding. and then the Americans came and committed MASS GENOCIDE there. I believe one general was quoted as saying "Kill them all". I know you hard core "patriots" don't like hearing the truth some times, but you can look it up. Escrima arose from the need to combat the Spanish sword and dirk style of fighting.

  • haha

  • watching this makes me proud, FMA 4 life

  • o.o

  • i come from the philippines

  • proud watching this :D

im used calling it arnis.. haha

  • @lsTiNzThl

arnis, kali, eskrima - the names we call it..\m/

    Proud to be Pinoy!

  • i know that place it was carbon market

    in cebu.....

  • @ters2256 you now how to speak cebuano??

  • DOCE PARES WIN XD !!!!!!

  • FYI to those who were trying to discriminate our martial arts. BRUCE LEE'S SENSEI IS A KALI MASTER!!

and hes a half filipino.! DONT BE FOOLED BY A STICK!

  • who dan inosanto? I never knew he thought bruce lee in kali but I know that that bruce lee teach him jeet kune do

  • hi guys i jst wannna say that eskrima, kali and arnis is jst da same the pronouncesation is jst difference and it's bec. of different language of philippines like in tagalog they called in ARNIS while in visayas they called ESKRIMA and in mindanao called KALI^^,

  • ay thanks for the info :-).

  • damn this show suck some major monkey nuts i mean no ofence but its just so corny how there always like "this martial is abrutal fighting style" and im like they all are there all martial arts there all brutal

  • best is the episode with krav maga, where the big guy states" ive have never experienced a martial art that blocks and strikes at the same time in such a way as krav maga do".. but it made me wonder, because the in the previous episodes, they had been training karate, muay thai, sambo and even wing chun. and wing chun has many counter techniques as those of krav maga.. so.. duh?? just wanted to point out that i know what you mean.. x-D

  • He was talking about a hit where you literally strike and block at the same time, extending two hands. In styles like wing chun, you block and then strike very quickly.

  • @SolidSnakeRules

    This is simply not true...

Wing Tsun blocks and strikes at the same time ALWAYS!!

(to do otherwise is not Wing Tsun)

i see you're comment is 1 month old...lets hope you know better now:)

Peace to you!! my misinformed friend

  • Uhhh

    lol

Wing Chun is not the same as Wing Tsun, first off, and second, Wing Chun practitioners block first then strike very quickly. In no way do they extend both hands at the same time. The proof of this is in the very fundamentals of Wing Chun where you step in to strike, which would be impossible if you were literally striking and blocking at the exact same time as seen here in Krav Maga.

  • @kickmasta This is the second episode. They haven't trained those yet.

  • Haha flips would shit on everybody

  • it's not really eskrima .. its arnis..

  • I'm pretty sure that eskrima, arnis, and kali are the same martial art.

  • i think so yes. Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje is the grandmaster of Pekiti Tirsia Kali. (He is the guy with the rise-fields and the water-buffalow)

    greetings from Austria!

    Kali!

  • Is this the same as Kali?

  • w0w meon pla d2 nyan! nyaks! hehe...

  • haha im filipino and i just got the name of one of the techniques they were using.. Labay.. which means throw.. ahahaha i finally got that.

  • labai i mean

  • is this similar to Kali,or the same,or not?

  • Wow, I didn't know Escrima is so popular in Cebu. (I'm Filipino but from Manila) I wished we trained this martial art back at school. I also hope that videogame developers and designers will create a Filipino character utilizing Escrima. ^_^

  • One of the characters in one of the recent Mortal Kombat games used what they claimed was Eskrima - it didn't look very distinctively Eskrima, though. But then, that whole game was kinda shitty in that respect, alot of the styles seemed the same.

  • @karlos000119

The character of TALIM in the fighting video game Soul Calibur uses Filipino Martial Arts of Kali, Arnis, Eskrima; Soul Calibur was made by the same people that made Tekken videogame; obvious ba Talim nga name e. ^^

  • @banyohazard69 Escrima ba gamit ni Talim? Tonfa ung weapons ni Talim pero gumagamit ba ng tonfa sa Escrima?

  • @karlos000119

FMA yun Filipino Martial Art; pag binasa mo sa Wikipedia according to the game developers it is a double blade or dual dagger ang gamit nya not an actual tonfa, ginawan lang nila ng konting play para maging uniqe ang weapon, basahin mo yung WIKIPEDIA article nya pre, daming info, Talim is a priestess or BABAYLAN in our ancient culture.

  • @karlos000119

Saka Tonfa is used in Wingchun(chinese), pero yung kay Talim ay dual daggers then it is FMA , kasi in FMA they teach you to use dual knife or dual daggers, it is called "DAGA Y DAGA". hope all that helps, lets support our own pre and spread the word sa mga kababayan natin na may colonial mentality pa rin.

  • @karlos000119

kung alam lang nila na even the U.S. special forces and law enforcements of western countries try to learn our native fighting arts 'coz of its potent nature, no BS, no fancy poses or pretty moves just straight up killing. while researching at it search mo na din yung mga "Juramentado" and their connection with the 45. caliber pistol or M1911, also a nice read.

  • @banyohazard69 is it possible to learn this art in the states? Do they even have schools for it, or would I have to go to the native country to learn?

  • @face2facechick you can absolutely learn it here in the states. I have trained (in NJ) with the Doce Pares school/family and even had the chance to meet Grandmaster Canete twice (in the yellow uniform) who Bill and Jason seek council with at the end. It is a GREAT art to blend and cross train with others if you have worked with other martial arts as well.

You can find various schools if you search on-line. Sometimes it will also be referred to as Kali or Arnis... they are all related.
