Umm.. it was actually just his wife that had any sort of belief in Astrology. Reagan himself was a firm Christian believer and actually had a moral standard, unlike many presidents these days. He's also probably one of the strongest presidents we've ever had. (either him or Coolidge) And of course the media is going to try to demean him; they do that to any president that has ever stepped in office. It's going to happen anyways.
Reagan was a puppet and a clown. The passionately ill-informed Reagan Myth shows how idiotic Republicans are, and how oblivious they are to facts, and history. Reagan raised taxes, gave amnesty to illegal aliens, and would be considered a Liberal by today's Limbaugh-Approved standards. Republicans only see the packaging, and are easily duped by shiny, simplistic bumper sticker jingoism, and should not be allowed to vote or operate heavy machinery.
I found his astrologers book at a cheap used book store, and it isn't an issue that reagan consulted as astrology, the problem is that the one he picked was a blatant quack.
I think Obama and the other far-left radicals in today's White House might want to pull a page from Reagan's play book. More jobs and wealth were created during the Reagan years than any other time in history.
Our ADHD president can't seem to focus on one thing at a time. Although he did a really swell job begging on his summer apology tour.
@SocialistDemokrat You're wrong, whatever RR did during his presidency doesn't end when he left the office. RR was a big proponent of deregulation industries and in his second term he did just that. Assigning Greenspan as chairman of NY Fed who deregulated financial industry starting in 1987. No one felt the affect of this till financial crisis in 2008 with 111 banks failing in 2 years. Next time you throw stats out don't forget to mention the biggest financial disaster in US history.
When you say "far left" you completely negate your credibility. Are you so dependent on O'Reilly that you can't make up your own epithets? Reagan was a disaster for the American economy, creating deficits rivalled only by Bush I and II. Just look at the facts. Obama is a closet Republican, and is beyond defending, but apologies to the world are in order, apologies that we as a nation spawned the disgrace of Republicanism ~ pig-ignorant arrogance wrapped in half-witted John Birch talking points.
The eyes truly are the windows to the soul. I feel like I am looking into a dark, dark pit when I look into the eyes of many world leaders today. Take a gander at G. Bush, N. Pelosi, N. Gingrich. I could name many more that have that same dark, empty, hollow and emotionless stare. What is up with the leaders in America. Unable to make a logical decision even when it is in their own best interest and that of the country. The restraints on the wicked have been removed.
@1985andalive You need to go back a lot further than that, to place the blame. Try going back to 1909 or even further to 1861. All the Presidents including Lincoln have been involved with what we are dealing with today. It's called incrementalism. Straight out of the play book from Karl Marx. The elite bankers have controlled every President we have had, at least, since the Civil War.
Ronald Reagan passed a law that cut my Dads Veterans Benefits(My Dad was a Veteran Of the Korean War),thus causing my Mom and Dad to lose our home. Thanks Republican Party !

Well, let me just say this about that. If you have 2 apples and I have 2 oranges, and I take 1 of your apples and give you 3 golf balls... well that just about sums up Ronnie's position on Beirut.

Reagan reminds me of Kennedy. Everyone says these men were really great, but ask why and the first response is "Are you kidding me?!" For Reagan, they bring up ending the Cold War. Funny thing about that, communism is a sham of a system, the "Evil Empire" was on the brink of collapse when Reagan said they were poised to take over the world. And what action did Reagan take against communism anyway? I don't recall us going to war with them or anything. I speak blasphemy very fluently.

The Soviets would have fallen anyway. Or am I wrong, and they are actually a good system? As for the Afghan opposition, you mean a Mr. Osama Bin Laden? I wouldn't brag about that if I were you.

And you know this because...you wish it to be so? But it's funny that you equate "good system" to stability. A lot of empires that were hardly paragons of freedom and enlightenment have lasted for centuries. But it certainly explains the issue you have with Reagan. Your authoritarian mindset is barely beneath the surface.

Authoritarian? Far from it. I reject Big Government, whether in the form of liberal nationalized companies, or conservative Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, and especially this "Moral Majority" nonsense. I am one of few true supporters of small government.
For preachers like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell--who proclaimed Reagan a standard-bearer of Christian righteousness--the astrology matter should have been of particular concern. Astrology is a branch of the occult. However, for those who had already sized up Ronald Reagan for the flake that he was, the disclosure of astrology in the White House came as no big surprise. It was consistent with the goofy statements and eccentric policy decisions that Reagan had made throughout his presidency.
Nice to see your acceptance of diverse ideas. Why don't you leave Canada and go live in a small minded village in the desert. You'll probably be more comfortable there.
Nancy made a few bad decisions. Astrology is often lumped in with the occult. People are upset that an astrologer could be directly effecting the government.
I study astrology and I will say that its a fantastic tool to utilize. Im talking about your birth chart and each person having more than one sign in them.
So its great that the woman thought to use an astrologer to empower herself but maybe it wasn't such a good decision to have that person so directly involved with her political career.
Yes, everyone is susceptible to superstitions. Look at the amount of Christians in the world. One person's superstition is another's religion. One is just as valid as the other.
I'd agree with that, and add that a superstition is fine until its rituals start to impinge on others, like the Spanish Inquisition or death-worshipping Jihadists...
I completely agree with your views on extreme actions. My basic view is that an individual can do and believe what they will without judgement from me, unless they bring harm to someone else. I live in ultraconservative Virginia. Sometimes, I tire of the Pat Robertson/Jerry Falwell environment I find myself in, I feel the need to point out that not everyone good person is a Christian.
Ronald Reagan was not a great president. He was a B movie actor, portraying a great president.
Your Limbaugh-jargon - "liberal elitism" -discredits you. Reagan initiated the downward slide into corporate fascism that Bush is finishing. Like Dubya, Reagan was a stooge - just a better actor than Dubya.

The fact that the world has such a crisis today started with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.
They were the greedy ones and Ronald was nothing more that a superstitious film star.
Why do people vote for lunatics, you wonder..

Funded the Afghan opposition to the Soviet occupation. Pursued SDI. Forced the Soviets to bankrupt themselves.
