My mom started the tradition of waking my sister and I up to this song every Easter morning. She only missed one year. That was the year we woke her up singing it. :) Now I sing it to my 5 boys. This is the first time I have heard the original, though. Quite nice.
I'm only 22 but have grown up with the old cowboys--Gene was always my fave singer, with Roy Rogers second and then Eddie Dean--there used to be such good movies to choose from!
Only 49! Hey I'm 62! and I love this! Easter's not complete without Peter Cottontail! Let's see, this is about play number 10.. Need to find some kids to help me listen.
Thanks so much. Even though I'm 49 years old, I still remember my mother singing this song over and over again throughout the year! She passed away on February 26th this year, and Easter is going to be very lonely without her. I'm so glad to hear all the words we've improvised all these years!
Now everytime i hear this song it reminds me of The easter bunny ate my candy

If it wasn't for the Easter Bunny bringing us kids all that sticky candy, there would never have been a Tooth Fairy for our fallen teeth.

The singing cowboy meets the Easter Bunny. Why I never had to drop acid.
