This comparison cracks me up I happen to own a 08 c350 and it is slower than the 335 but its faster than a a4 v6. At the solum it doesn't even look like the person is trying with the benz it is so easy to drive drive up to the canyons with both these cars I'm sure the bmw will come out first but the benz driver will come out with a smile on there face.
i test drove both the 335i and the c350 , and even though 335i has better performance the inside felt cramped and the ride was rough (thanks to the run flats and stiff suspension) .. In contrast, the mercedes may lack the punch of a 335i but makes up for it with a comfortable ride and roomier interior. Thats why i choose the Merc C350 sport,. and its true- this Merc will turn heads even though its a entry !!
End result BMW won, and why the fuck are people comparing G37s to BMW and Benz Infiniti thinks they can keep up with German cars? Fuck off a 335i can beat a g37
the bmw is a twin turbo 300hp and sportier than the Merc and it can still keep up with the bmw, so what if you put only one supercharger on the Mercedes? BMW your fucked! ;)
To be honest, the 335i is unconfortable compared to the Merc! I've been in my brother's 335i and friend's C350 and concluded that the only thing that was comfortable about the bm were its seats. I do realise it's an ''M-sport'', so the ride will be sacrificed for sportiness which it sure does have! The car is awfully fun and fast around the bends, but, every day, I suggest you should go for the Merc! Pure lovely Jubelyness.

Also, The Mercedes C Class looks, and feels cheap. On the sport package, Its all just plastic and aluminum trim... I thought Benz offers full wood grain wood? I am happy that my 330i has a beautiful combination of, full wood grain wood/ leather/ and sport suspension all in one. Not to mention, the car offers paddle shifters for automatics and MANUAL transmissions for real driving. So, Id wipe my jizz on that Benz and buy the BMW
I've seen alot of C-classes because, growing up from Westchester County, NY is upscale. ALL C-Class owners are women, just to let you know. So if you wanna be driving around in a fast kitchen, by all means, be my guest.

Dude I can not agree with you more! I have 2 BMW's and 1 mercedes and I choose my benz (CLK320) for when I have a date and I take my bimmer (128i) out for my daily driver. The other bimmer I have is an E53 X5 which i use for long drives. There is nothing that drives like a BMW, yet the benz is a lemon and it sucks on gas. I don't regret getting the benz but if i could do it over I'd spend 59k on a used M3.
c63 amg > Lexus ISF > BMW m3 > Audi RS4. and very few people know that the VP of BMW North America is one of the few major stakeholders of edmunds, so obviously this is another bmw sponsored show. If top gear does this comparison, you'll get a different answer. 335i is a great car but Edmunds.com = Epic fail.

Well If u knw about cars is simple to chose between Benz and BMW of u like luxury you will go with Benz and if like sports u will go BMW regarless the sedan or coupe 1s even driving an AMG feels more like a luxury car than if you drive similar class car from a BMW which the BMW feels more sporty than Benz

@harisdeva. Bmw is even better in durability compared to te mercs. merc in the 80s where more durable but since ca1997 Bmw are better in durability. Mercs are less well build as tey used to. The main directors af merc say they want there durability back. Those are not my words those are mercs words. A bmw can deliver at least 500.000 km.... Germans can build drable cars but the japs are even better...
Mercedes has always remained competitive and amongst the top of the class with their superb V8 and V12-powered engines, but they just dont put any focus into their V6s whatsoever.
The C350 is SO EASILY outpaced by 6cyl rivals like BMW 335i, Audi S4, Lexus IS350, and Infinti G37, it's not even funny!

@COCOT20 Honda's F1 in the 1990's were manual gearbox's Aryton Senna's Honda F! was a manual gear box. Also, just because its cheaper doesn't mean its cheap in quality. A manual transmission hardly ever blows out, unless your doing some over aggressive driving. You only have to replace the clutch and flywheel as compared to replacing the entire transmission. So wouldn't you prefer to spend 1500 dollars compared to 3500 plus dollars? I personally like to row my own gears, Its a unique experience

The automatic gear box has proven to be better than the manual gear, Or the diference between both is minimal in a 0-60 run the difference is about 0,01 Sec (Nothing for a STREET car) But if you are building a cheap and economical car, like a BMW you are going to fit them manual transmisions.
If not the Ford T is better than MB and BMW because it has MANUAL ignition timming.... being automatic is not bad, is expensive...
@COCOT20 just because manual isn't preferred nor demonstrate "luxury", doesn't always mean it wont ever compensate the driver. =D Personally, I cant go around the curvy tight, twisty turns with an automatic. I can't ever get the automatic gear box to be in the gear that I want it to be with the desired torque/ revs. I just dont get the full fulfillment out of a car in an auto, thats all. I can't understand why BMW sucks at racing these days!!! First, they pull-out of F1 due to pitiful results apart from being lapped by Brawn-Mercedes and McLaren-Mercedes. Then they get whooped by SEAT and Chevy at the FIA-WTCC. They then get some further ass-wiping at the 24h Le Mans where they were slipstreamed by the Corvettes and Porsches before broken gearboxes and blown engines put paid to their efforts down the drain!!! @demoskunk the fact is that you wont see lot of younger guys driving merc sports cars cos they simply cannot afford them whereas BMW cars are more affordable but have lesser performance when compared to the merc competitors which are priced higher but you simply get better cars. its the same reason why you often see older guys driving cars like the Porsches, bentleys, aston martins etc. cos very few kids can afford them, or those who have them, have multi million dollar parents.
Check out this site that proves that even then older and slower BMW 330i is better than the Mercedes C350, let alone the 335i. BMW > Mercedes any day. BMW stays ahead even with smaller, more efficient engines because their focus is on overall specs- Ultimate Driving Machine.

Problem is that If you buy a benz C class, ppl will think you are too poor to afford an E class or S class. Since all benz models are boring to drive and handles like crap (that are not AMG).

@harisdeva. Bmw is even better in durability compared to te mercs. merc in the 80s where more durable but since ca1997 Bmw are better in durability. Mercs are less well build as tey used to. The main directors af merc say they want there durability back. Those are not my words those are mercs words. A bmw can deliver at least 500.000 km.... Germans can build drable cars but the japs are even better...

Mercedes has always remained competitive and amongst the top of the class with their superb V8 and V12-powered engines, but they just dont put any focus into their V6s whatsoever.
The C350 is SO EASILY outpaced by 6cyl rivals like BMW 335i, Audi S4, Lexus IS350, and Infinti G37, it's not even funny!

@COCOT20doesn't matter what company manufactured first, BMW offers comfort, speed, and style. Also, BMW has always provided their enthusiasts with an optimum manual transmission. As compared to M-Benz who only offers their buyers only two class's (SLK & C 300 sport) which is pathetic for a company that boasts about performance. We all know that manual is the premium choice of real drivers. Hence why BMW has always offered manual, I dont see too many sports Benz's offering manual.. do I?

@COCOT20 Honda's F1 in the 1990's were manual gearbox's Aryton Senna's Honda F! was a manual gear box. Also, just because its cheaper doesn't mean its cheap in quality. A manual transmission hardly ever blows out, unless your doing some over aggressive driving. You only have to replace the clutch and flywheel as compared to replacing the entire transmission. So wouldn't you prefer to spend 1500 dollars compared to 3500 plus dollars? I personally like to row my own gears, Its a unique experience

The automatic gear box has proven to be better than the manual gear, Or the diference between both is minimal in a 0-60 run the difference is about 0,01 Sec (Nothing for a STREET car) But if you are building a cheap and economical car, like a BMW you are going to fit them manual transmisions.
If not the Ford T is better than MB and BMW because it has MANUAL ignition timming.... being automatic is not bad, is expensive...

@COCOT20 just because manual isn't preferred nor demonstrate "luxury", doesn't always mean it wont ever compensate the driver. =D Personally, I cant go around the curvy tight, twisty turns with an automatic. I can't ever get the automatic gear box to be in the gear that I want it to be with the desired torque/ revs. I just dont get the full fulfillment out of a car in an auto, thats all. Sorry, if i was being a dick.

Both are fun to drive, great looking and flashy. And both are hell to own and maintain. German's know how to make Dr. Jekyl / Mr. Hyde cars. And you never know which one you'll get when you turn the key. So live close to your repair shop/dealer, pray for a loaner and keep your wallet handy if you plan on buying either brand.

I can't understand why BMW sucks at racing these days!!! First, they pull-out of F1 due to pitiful results apart from being lapped by Brawn-Mercedes and McLaren-Mercedes. Then they get whooped by SEAT and Chevy at the FIA-WTCC. They then get some further ass-wiping at the 24h Le Mans where they were slipstreamed by the Corvettes and Porsches before broken gearboxes and blown engines put paid to their efforts down the drain!!! You can't sell sporty sedans with a pitiful sporty image.

SL 63, 65 amgs, merc SLR, CLS, CL class for examples. so bmw is not even in the same league you idiot. and FYI, E63 amg has been rated as a better car than M5 by most critics. so stop thinking that people are as dumb as you are.

@kashp111 and again FYI you always find old or mid aged people driving corvettes and porsches, that doesnt mean they are for old. its cos an avg young professional in the US cannot afford a porsche or a corvette but can certainly afford a 3 series bmw which i agree is slightly sportier than the c class (sportier doesnt mean better car overall) and any other merc costs more than 40 grand which is not exactly cheap money for a young person. think logical rather than making dumb assumptions.

@demoskunk the fact is that you wont see lot of younger guys driving merc sports cars cos they simply cannot afford them whereas BMW cars are more affordable but have lesser performance when compared to the merc competitors which are priced higher but you simply get better cars. its the same reason why you often see older guys driving cars like the Porsches, bentleys, aston martins etc. cos very few kids can afford them, or those who have them, have multi million dollar parents.

Check out this site that proves that even then older and slower BMW 330i is better than the Mercedes C350, let alone the 335i. BMW > Mercedes any day. BMW stays ahead even with smaller, more efficient engines because their focus is on overall specs- Ultimate Driving Machine.
