Mitchell and Webb are the masters of juxstaposition. This is a very dark sketch and for me pesents a visceral comment on overindulgance : The normal gluttony of Christmas is placed in the context of a social taboo of drug addiction and this is done brilliantly. Anyway this is my opinion no need to flame me if you disagree.

Second, the joke is that 'regular' people eat too much during Christmas, whilst saying 'I shouldn't, really, it's not good for me." and junkies feel the same way about their drugs. That was made clear by her going "Otherwise we'll have all of it, and it'll go straight to my bum!" in response to Webb saying they always have leftovers after Christmas.
