Just picked this one up on a budget label, its as good as I remember it. Can't help but wonder if the producers of the 2010 remake of the Crazies borrorwed a few ideas from this to try and distance themselves from Romeros film.
do you remember your address? I was in "Downtown" on night to see some of the movie being filmed. Lots of fog machines!.......and fire! It was totally cool! I was around 11 years old at the time. I will never forget that night.
I remember watching this and being so scared I slept with the lights on! LOLOL This movie was so good because there were certain people you didn't expect to die but did! It wasn't a typical predictable horror movie. Kudos to the writers!
That's awesome! Am I right in thinking the movie has fallen into the public domain? It's just that I notice that there seems to be so many different versions all released by obscure budget distributors. Kinda sucks for those involved if that is the case.
Ed Montoro, who was the head of Film Ventures International, disappeared with the company's funds not long after the movie was released. The company was then sold to a TV distributor, and I'm not sure what happened to it after that. I don't think the movie is in PD, though I could be wrong. I haven't had any contact with them for a LONG time ---
So you don't get residuals or anything on it? That's blows, man. Well, nonetheless, thanks for bringing this movie to the screen. This was one of the first horror films I saw on late night TV when I was a kid and I loved it. Never looked back. I now write horror screenplays myself. So yeah, thanks for inspiring me. :)
I really liked the lead charachter (played by the superbly named Wings Hauser) it was is he knew he was in a low grade film and wasn't taking it seriously yet his performance stayed believable.
Looks fine to me. I loved horror films all my life, but the new ones.... Am I getting old on this kind of movies or they can´t make me believe in their stories? More gore, more violence, more effects, more speed, but I am boring most of the time.
I agree with you, I think sometimes modern horror movies try to be so fast-paced and action-packed that it doesn't give you time to actually make real characters that you care about. A decapitation isn't really horrifying unless you actually care about the character that's being bumped off.
I saw a clip of this on a show with Edward Mulhare (Devon off Knight Rider) in the mid 1980s. The show was about horror movies and it showed a clip from Night Shadows. I wondered what it was about. Thanks for posting!
No, it's not particularly scary, but it is fun. Which is better than most modern horror movies. I assume, from your l33t-speak and 14 exclamation marks, that you are a teenage kid who thinks Van Helsing is the best horror film ever made and everything made before 2000 is crap. Hopefully, you will grow out of it.
i have watch this film since i was 11 years old,it was soo scary that i could't sleep well now i have 23 years and it steel scares me where i look this film
I've uploaded this movie with running commentary from my friend and I as we watched it for the first time. Check it out if you want some funnies.

0:51 It's not an official Zombie movie if hands don't come busting through a window to grab you. LOL.

That's great. I had hoped, as one of the original wriers, that we would get to make the trip to Georgia. No such luck though.

An underrated low budget classic from the 80's. I have an ex rental of this on video which was relesed on EIV.
Can anyone tell me was this filmed in ATLANTA? (Might seem obvious with the deep south accents)
By the way avoid the totally unconnected sequel MUTANT 2 ( Alien predator) I have this one too.
omg Soooooooo Abysmal!!!!

I notice that the team behind Shaun of the Dead was influence with Mutant especially the ending.

I've got a few copies of this in various horror box sets.
It'd be nice if they'd release the unrelated sequel on DVD.
