When it gets down to it the ad is unlikely to change the minds of very many women considering an abortion or the minds of those who come down pro choice. I don't see huge controversy in it. The ad was made too much a big deal than it was. All the mother said was that she almost lost him, she was scared, he is all grown up now, and she gets tackled in a way to introduce comedy to the ad. That's all. Whatever side you are on, you have to admit that the ad was made too much of a big deal than it really was. It was simple, clean, and a bit funny.

My memory tells me that when abortion was illegal here many women, on the advice of their doctors, had abortions. They had to hide it, or leave the country perhaps, but on their doctor's advice they had that abortion.

The woman on the other hand is an actual, living human being. What about her life? I find it funny how people assume that being pro-choice means that you're pro-abortion.
I'm personally think abortions are a bad idea, but those are my beliefs. It'll be a sad day if I ever become so self-righteous to think I should impose that belief on everyone on a clearly ambiguous issue.
Abortion is not murder in any sense of the word. Abortion is legal. A fetus is not a person legally nor otherwise. Abortion is justified by a woman's bodily rights and security of person.
I don't think it matters whether the story was true or not. I'm disappointed that Cenk didn't at least comment on the major flaw in the ad's argument: it's basically the same old "potential" pro-life argument, which you can easily counter by pointing out that you're destroying a potential life every time you fail to act on a sexual urge.
Its possible the doctor in the philipines suggested an abortion, and suggested she return to the USA to get it.
If a woman claimed to have HAD an abortion because she was sick, and someone disputed the claim and said, 'no you weren't sick you jerk!' , how would you feel?

I don't see huge controversy in it. The ad was made too much a big deal than it was. All the mother said was that she almost lost him, she was scared, he is all grown up now, and she gets tackled in a way to introduce comedy to the ad. That's all. Whatever side you are on, you have to admit that the ad was made too much of a big deal than it really was. It was simple, clean, and a bit funny.

The story was more along the lines of how the fetus was abnormal, and never (throughout the pregnancy) never attached to the placenta.

The woman on the other hand is an actual, living human being. What about her life? For most of the pregnancy, the fetus is completely dependent on the mother for all biological functions, just like any organ in her body; therefore, removing said fetus could be equated to removing any other problematic organ. I have never seen anyone fly into a righteous fury over an excised kidney.
Bottom line: if it is a part of the woman's body, it is HER body, and therefore, her decision.

If you're talking about the gay ad, that was just raunchy. CBS said they would work with that company to make a more tasteful commercial, but that company wouldn't budge. Therefore, your claim of "Bias! Bigotry! Hypocrites!" has, in fact, no basis.

You can't assert that someone else feels guilty for their actions. I'm sure women in the past have aborted children and not felt guilty about it for very long. That says nothing about their character, they just got over it.
I find it interesting that you not only want to impose your morals on someone else, but you also want to impose your guilt on them. You don't want abortions? Don't have them. Tell your kids not to have them. I don't care, just leave the rest of us alone to our decisions.

We all can and do practice "choice". We then experience the consequences that come with our choices. Life leads to positive consequeces and death leads to negative consequences. Let a baby live, enjoy the gift of life. Kill a baby, live a life of guilt. Duh!

I think you missed my point. Baby killing should not be allowed. Unfortunately it is allowed with no legal repercussions. But the guilt and bad memory will always result. Life and death are at opposite ends of the spectrum in this abortion topic.

As citizens of the United States, they had the option of simply returning home to have an abortion...which is what their doctor recommended that they do.
I agree that "pro choice" people aren't what they profess at all when they attack someone for making the RIGHT choice to keep their child. Besides, women have ALWAYS had the freedom of choice...the time to make that decision about having a child is before engaging in sex. Who are they mad at? God? Abortion is MURDER!

When anyone is attacked for defending life, it's clear their issue isn't merely just preserving rights but a demand of affirmation. They must must be experiencing the moral guilt of their position, otherwise they'd not have any interest in shaming someone for merely not wanting to buy what they're selling. They're revealing themselves as bitterly intolerant of not merely opposing views but mere pride in not agreeing.
I can't see any other explanation than guilt.

I'm glad there are no pro abortion ads on TV. Marketers catering to preteens about getting an abortion isn't something that is acceptable to me. That goes too far. Encouraging children to get abortions during the SuperBowl no less? I don't want ads for eugenics or euthinasia showing extermination of the white race. Abusing "reproductive freedoms" to control the populations of undesirables is a disgusting way to market this ethnic cleansing campaign.

Focus on the Family is NOT a political hate group. They believe homosexual BEHAVIOR is wrong because it's against biology & against God. Homosexuals are called to a life of chastity.
FotF is a media & PR group, not a medical group. They do advertisements& support the pro-life movement. It's not their job to be out in the field. See the difference?

Abortion is not murder in any sense of the word. Abortion is legal. A fetus is not a person legally nor otherwise. Abortion is justified by a woman's bodily rights and security of person.

I'm disappointed that Cenk didn't at least comment on the major flaw in the ad's argument: it's basically the same old "potential" pro-life argument, which you can easily counter by pointing out that you're destroying a potential life every time you fail to act on a sexual urge.

If a woman claimed to have HAD an abortion because she was sick, and someone disputed the claim and said, 'no you weren't sick you jerk!' , how would you feel?
