  • What's with the supporting narrative... it often doesn't match the reporters words??? Sometimes changes the entire meaning of the story! Is it subliminal? Or are you using some voice recognition technology?

  • When it gets down to it the ad is unlikely to change the minds of very many women considering an abortion or the minds of those who come down pro choice.   • I don't see huge controversy in it. The ad was made too much a big deal than it was. All the mother said was that she almost lost him, she was scared, he is all grown up now, and she gets tackled in a way to introduce comedy to the ad. That's all. Whatever side you are on, you have to admit that the ad was made too much of a big deal than it really was. It was simple, clean, and a bit funny.

    I mean, you aren't seriously saying that you think this "pro-life" group paid for a Super Bowl ad and the ad isn't meant to be taken as "pro-life", are you?

  • @nureallycool Anyway, it's obviously the group's choice to make TV ads to try and move forward their ideology if they want, I'm not saying that's wrong. I'm just saying the message in this case is pretty stupid and not a real argument for not having an abortion. They're essentially pandering to the fantasies parents might have about their kid growing up to be rich and famous and able to give them a life of comfort once he makes it big in the NFL.

    The story was more along the lines of how the fetus was abnormal, and never (throughout the pregnancy) never attached to the placenta.

    It wasn't about abortion, it was about how fragile and precious life is.

You have yet to explain what you meant by "Just see Texas" and your argument is faulty given that I've seen condoms break and birth control fail and if not - make people sick. I've seen it myself. They don't work. The only way is to make moral decisions and avoid the problem at the beginning.

  • @RafaNadal08 No. A fetus is a possible life. There is no guarantee that any pregnancy will result in a live birth or even that the baby, once born, will survive. The woman on the other hand is an actual, living human being. What about her life? If the choice comes down to an actual life versus a possible life, I am always going to side with the actual human being. The one with friends, family, emotions, and so on. As the saying goes, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".

For most of the pregnancy, the fetus is completely dependent on the mother for all biological functions, just like any organ in her body; therefore, removing said fetus could be equated to removing any other problematic organ. I have never seen anyone fly into a righteous fury over an excised kidney.

    Bottom line: if it is a part of the woman's body, it is HER body, and therefore, her decision.

  • I'm glad there are no pro abortion ads on TV. Marketers catering to preteens about getting an abortion isn't something that is acceptable to me. That goes too far. Encouraging children to get abortions during the SuperBowl no less? I don't want ads for eugenics or euthinasia showing extermination of the white race. Abusing "reproductive freedoms" to control the populations of undesirables is a disgusting way to market this ethnic cleansing campaign.

    if you knew the bible as well as you say, you'd know these things. but the truth is, fundamentalists just shut down their brain and follow what someone is telling them without inspection. this survey would show the more you know about the bible, the less you believe it.

    I'm personally think abortions are a bad idea, but those are my beliefs. It'll be a sad day if I ever become so self-righteous to think I should impose that belief on everyone on a clearly ambiguous issue.
