  • Mj did this song when he was a kid

  • Elvis even help pay the hospital bills while Jackie was in a coma for solong.

  • Jackie Wilson was the last entertainer to play at the Ablee Square Movie. The Albee had some wonderful Music Shows when I was coming up. It's a shame they tore that beautiful building down with all it's marble and beautiful interior. Especially for a very ugly Mall which lasted only a few years before it was torn down.

  • Aw I wouldn't be surprised used this line he has in his song 'Leave me alone' from Jackie. :)

  • This is my favorite version of this song. I wish he had lived longer. Truly, i do.

  • Love this! Jackie was the best!

  • This is Perfection!

  • Comment removed

  • I meant better singer.

  • You can't say Michael Jackson was a better that Jackie. Listen to the voices. Jackie Wilson had far better chops that Jackson. No comparison.

  • @sprngrboy Mj is way better then jackie

  • Great Jackie classic btw. Thumbs up!!

  • Comparing Jackie Wilson and Elvis is ignorant. They aren't the same genre. Michael Jackson was born at the right time to make record sales because digital downloading wasn't even around hardly. You HAD to buy albums to listen to music. Learn your time time eras mshah2010.

  • @ul7r05 Are you slow? mj the king

  • Just think if he had a cellphone!

  • I love me some Jackie Wilson.

  • Let's call a spade a spade. Jackie Wilson music is more talked about today than Elvis. Both were outstanding entertainers but Elvis did not have the voice of Wilson nor the stage presence. In any event Michael Jackson far surpassed them both as an artist and entertainer. The record history of sells and revenue is proof in the pudding.

  • If Jackie was still alive I would have loved to see him do a performance with Bruno Mars. >SIGH< If only.

  • @rghitchen that would be so AMAZING. i just imagined it in my head :D

  • GREAT, GREAT PICTURES!!!

  • Whoa. What a voice. XD :D

  • These songs were referred to as "Begging Music." It worked about 45% of the time!

  • Jackie's great, and so was his friend, Elvis.

They had mutual respect, is that such a hard concept to grasp?

Elvis, until his own death in 1977, also paid all Jackie's hospital bills when he was in longterm comatose care. That's a friend.

  • Why is it that every time a Black artist's music is celebrated and shown love (especially on YT), somebody has to pull Elvis out of their ass? Where do you think Elvis got/stole/borrowed his sound from? BLACK ARTISTS!

Just STFU with that nonsense and enjoy JACKIE!

  • LOVE, LOVE THIS SONG!

I HEARD THIS AT WALGREENS WHILE WAS SHOPPING!

I COULDN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS ON MY COMPUTER WHEN I GOT HOME!

SO GLAD IT WAS HERE TO FAVOR!

    LOVE THIS!

  • I hear that text has been send. i did know jackie

  • @ Mr Napt. Regarding that crack about "all blacks can do is shine my shoes", I've heard that before. But Elvis was the biggest star in his day to use black background singers, especially during the time he recorded "In The Ghetto." I'm sure that crack came from some racist, not Elvis. I was really upset to hear it too. Word is... Elvis used to slip into black shows to watch when he was young. Anyway America's Greatest Singer was Jackie. He could sing anything. Listen to "Forever and A Day."

  • @jisiri elvis is racist

  • @DrMonkeyBoyJr - No, Elvis wasn't racist. His manager, Tom Parker, was a STONE racist, though.

  • Please stop comparing Jackie to Elvis, except when talking about them as entertainers. Jackie seems to have thought of himself as an entertainer first and singer second, even with that fantastic voice. Jackie loved singing entertainers including Al Jolson. Elvis came down to a club in L.A. one night and helped Jackie fill the club. They were friends. As far as singers are concerned the only real competition Jackie ever had was Little Willie John.

  • Another Keystone Club favorite...Kokomo Indiana. circa 1960

  • I was a young adult when this song came out. I immediately went the store and bought record and listened to it until I learned it forward and backward. I love to listen to Mr. Wilson another one of my favorite tunes is "Jamie". Peace and Love, M.

  • Jackie Wilson and Elvis has the same sound..its all about the music not the color of your skin people. Just close your eyes and listen to the music, it feels good.

  • @likr604 HELL NO elvis cant sing the words flow out of jackie

  • Ah...Ignorance! Over 60 million (mainly white people) killed in World War 2 and we never hear of it as white on white crime. And, don't even start on the what the popes and Christians did to Jews and the rest of Europe. Anyway...Jackie thought Elvis was the greatest entertainer in the world, and Elvis thought Jackie was the greatest singer in the world. They were great friends. Shut up and listen to one of the greatest voice you'll ever hear. I've been waiting for over 50 yrs for another.

  • @jisiri lmao nice try elvis was white so he got more love easy

  • @jisiri You're going to have to wait another 50, because Jackie Wilson will never be matched!! He was the true "Mr. Excitement"...his voice outshines all others!

  • @jisiri elvis got famous off the mans style of music and then said "all blacks can do is shine my shoes"

tahts ignorence he may be a great singer but on my list he is very low

  • @MrNapt OMG. This is such an old myth it's pathetic at this point. He never said it. Lol! I can't believe this lame lie didn't die back in the 70s when that lie started. Well, you can't help the ignorant haters.

  • @64eugenia and you have proof he never said that?

  • Well it appears today blacks are their own worst enemies. Do you see the KKK or skinheads doing drive-by's in the black communities? Do you see the white man terrorizing the black communities by selling drugs on the street corners? All the other races know to make big money go to the black community who are a race of consumers. Black hair, weaves, etc the Koreans own the majority of shops. Nails, Vietnamese, the liquor and corner stores, people from Middle East. Pimp(pastors)top whore 1st. lady

  • He raped a bitch.

  • Shut it with this eternal Elvis vs. Wilson bullshit already. Both of them were fantastic singers, and that is a fact.

  • Christ! Who the F are the 7 tools that dislike? Talent like this is long gone, replaced by half literate thug wannabees & hoes...

  • this song is so before my time bu i love it so all i can say is go jackie

  • TODAY IS THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF JACK LEROY WILSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A LIFE GONE MUCH TO SOON. GREATLY MISSED AND LOVED BY ALL WHO (TRUELY) KNEW HIM. I LOVED HIM IN LIFE AND EVEN MORE SO IN DEATH.

  • Mr. Excitement.. I love this man & his music. The good music stopped the Jackie had his heart attack... I sure miss him.

  • I love Elvis Presley, but I never thought for a minute he could touch Mr. Excitement. Jackie Wilson was a generous guy, and he always claimed they took from each other. Not to take from Elvis, but I thought Jackie had the better moves and vocals. Jackie was far more expressive, and wrung more out of his songs. to the end of Mr. Wilson's career many entertainers have said he sang each song like it was his very first time, and acted out each line like no one ever did.

  • It is a little-known fact that Elvis's great-grandfather was black whereas Jackie Wilson's was white

  • @eruptionista you right I didn't know that.

  • Listen to him cry at 1:25

  • listen to the music

  • listen to the music

  • Why do people insist on keeping this stupid argument alive? It has taken on a life of it's own. Why can't we just enjoy the music? Give it a break

  • What a magic voice, especially when he sings in falsetto!

  • As an avid Jackie & Elvis fan for 40 -some years, I'm thrilled to hear that Elvis loved Jackie's talent so much that he imitated his style in the late 60s-look it up & look at Viva Las Vegas -Viva Lucky Jackson!

  • what you say baby baby baby back then i walk the talk and talk talk !hey now the black men then was so very tall and fine! oh my my my look at jackie on this fine as hell! we need to get our black men back to the day when they knew what they were doing ! not like these little nothings nagging boys of today ,they are so lost .i just don"t know how the little girls can call themselves in love with these nothings of today!

  • @NicolaWriter I'm 69 years young & if you did not live through the 1950's like me, you'd change your mind about Elvis...Up to about 1955 all you heard on radio & TV was "syrupy ballads" like ... Music, music, music" by Teresa Brewer, or stuff by Dean Martin, Perry Como, Kitty Kalen,Nat Cole,...a hodge-podge of rinky tinky stuff. When Elvis appeared, it was like a super nova exploded, & the media was saturated with this "new music" called rock 'n roll...it divided families' music preferences.

  • @NicolaWriter you are absolutely talking shit ..you know nothing ..elvis was great you silly uneducated bitch

  • FIVE Stars....Great Great singer.....

  • this is not about no damn elvis!!! sheesh please give jackie wilson his due respect by not talking about elvis. i love elvis but he is way too overrated. dang people

  • True musical talent!!!!! Oh my,,I lose my mind everytime I hear his voice.

  • @emmettk JUST A BUNCH OF JEALOUS ELVIS HATERS HERE, BRO !

  • @emmettk His career was too short is why I think he is not as credited as he should be. I don't see race as a factor. Look at James Brown. Little Richard and etc. varaha

    Escondido, CA

  • @emmettk

what the fuck you yapping about? it is clearly because elvis is the better of the two 0.o

barking off about race, shut the fuck up you fuck tard!

  • @TanMeenator If you had any intelligence you would have noticed that for whatever reason, the discussion thread won't let go of some need to compare the two. I only addressed it because it was already out there and I wish it would go away. You can have an opinion without being ignorant about it.

  • @emmettk

yap yap yap shut the fuck up you retard.

  • This is real singing from way down deep in his soul.

  • To me Jackie looks like he could be Elvis' brother (even though he's a black man) they look alike.

  • Lord Have Mercy. When Jackie Wilson opened his mouth, he sounded like rich honey on moonbeams, He would blow your mind. He has often been compared to Elvis Presley. Ha! The brilliant power of his voice, not to mention his onstage flipping, twirling, gliding, throwing the mic around without missing a note, and outward splits is like night and day in comparison. Michael Jackson, James Brown and Prince all had the dance moves, but absolutely nobody has ever had the vocals of Jackie Leroy Wilson.

  • @tommiexander You are wrong Jackie Wilson DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ELVIS, NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL. Elvis tried to sound like Jackie Wilson, tried to dance like him. Get a grip.

  • @Jevezy

Are you that dense until you can't even comprehend what I meant? Get outta here......

  • @Jevezy YOUR FULL OF SHIT , TOO ! BRO, ELVIS DANCED LIKE ELVIS , NOT LIKE JACKIE WISON EITHER !

  • @avantill: If Elvis danced like Elvis, then why the hell do crazy Elvis fans insist on perpetuating the myth that Jackie Wilson copied him, making Elvis out to be more talented than he really was.

  • @Jevezy Because Jackie Wilson said:

'I took as much from Elvis as he took from me'.

'A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis'.

Now, they were friends so Wilson may exxaggarate but anyway, this is what Elvis fans like to think..

  • @mikainen Jackie Wilson would never have said that. What in hell did that mediocre talented Elvis have that black singers wanted? Nothing. Black men can sing, dance and black men have soul, all three of which white men do not have. Oh you try all right, but you have to be born with it. Elvis is your King of Rock and Roll, Little Richard is mine. Elvis was a clown, trying so hard to sound and act black, let's not forget how many white folks songs he also recorded. King of Rock and Roll my ass.

  • @Jevezy Jackie Wilson said that because he was generous man. Elvis did not try to sound and act black, he did what he felt good whether it was rock'n roll, gospel, "Italian semi-opera" or countrymusic. He was a Jackie Wilson fan and was influenced by him. He had performed for two years though before he saw Wilson live for the first time.

And if Elvis did not have anything else black singers wanted, fame and fortune at least.

  • @mikainen" Elvis did try to sound and act black, those silly hip movements were supposed to be some kind of dance? Why is it all you people use the same old tired excuse that Elvis admired the singers that he why he sang their songs. That is BS, he was running out of songs to sing. I can understand a singer recording another singer's song, but hell, Elvis made a damn career out of it. Every time you looked around there he was like a parrot recording someone's song.

  • @Jevezy Elvis didn't write songs so naturally he sang others songs. And of course the ones he liked. Performers who don't write songs make a career singing other peoples songs, you know.

  • @mikainen: Elvis could write songs, he had to sing the songs given to him, and when he ran out of those he made a career of singing other folks songs - both black and whitethat he liked.. Am I mad at him for doing so? Hell no, but his fans need to admit this and stop saying that singers stole from him.. . After all the abuse I had to put up with for my comments on this and other video sites. I am glad I stuck to my convictions because someone stepped up to the plate and admitted the truth.

  • @Jevezy This is not the right place for our discussion but anyway... Elvis did not write songs. The ones with his name on credits are either managers doings (1956-57) or the two 60's songs were written by Red/Charlie with Elvis suggesting the title or few lines of lyrics.

  • @Jevezy Ignorant guy, you are.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos : Okay, I see you can't handle the truth. Too bad, deal with it. Jackie Wilson stands heads and shoulders above the "so called" King of Rock and Roll, who could not write a single song and spent the majority of his career singing other folks songs - BOTH BLACK AND WHITE. I know it is hard to accept the truth, but deal with it like man and not a child. lol!

  • @Jevezy It is funny to see how you are arguing with yourself. Your arguements are actualy pretty much the definition of narciccism.

I respect both singers equally. Without Elvis the music business would be a different place: he influenced millions. I'm not denying Wilson's talent but Elvis was really important for the evolution of music. If you deny this, you are just another biased Wilson-fanboy who has no objectivity or respect. A shame.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos" You are the fool here, dumb Elvis fan trying to tie him to a star like Jackie Wilson, that man stands head and shoulders above that clown. Stop trying to make Elvis more important than he really was, lots of people make great contributions to the evolution of Rock and Rock that is why we have a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame you idiot and not an Elvis Presley Hall of Fame. Elvis was important but so was everyone else. Get a damn life you idiot.

  • @Jevezy You sound like 13-year old boy, a shame. Stop crying over your beloved Jackie Wilson not being as popular as Elvis. Music isn't a fucking competition, you fucking nutcase.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Total bullshit. I haven't stated that Elvis alone was important but he surely affected the face of music. Stating otherwise automatically makes you an ignorant fool who simply DOESN'T know about these things. Now go away, child.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos : You dumbazz Elvis fans try to make him out to be what he was not, and as the years pass by you keep inventing more lies about him until you have him on God status. Well time to get back down to earth now Bozo, Elvis was talented, but barely, he could not write a song to save his life, he sang back other folk's songs - both black and white. He did not sound like Jackie, could not dance like Jackie and Jackie was far more talented than he was. Deal with it.

  • @Jevezy I can't deny that he couldn't write a song, that is true. Still, Elvis has hugely talented performer. Yes, yes, so was Jackie.

So because one cockroach redneck from out of nowhere like you doesn't agree that Elvis was hugely impatful on the upcoming music scene actually makes Elvis unimportant? Sorry but you are wrong. God, you are silly.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Elvis is good but not the best ever sorry

  • @MrKareemRuiz Never said so but Elvis is definitely good, just like Wilson.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Cockroach redneck, give me a damn break, you know damn well I am a black man and I am supporting my black singers, and one of them is Jackie Wilson. We blacks have to be careful because you whites are so good at copying our songs and then taking all the credit. A very large majority of rednecks love Elvis, which probably makes you one, dimwit.. lol!

  • @Jevezy Haha, Finnish guy a redneck? Sorry, man, that isn't possible.

I REALLY respect black people and their huge contributions to the culture. Still, I really dislike underrating certain artists. Elvis did take lots of influence from blacks but he also contributed something new to the music too. That's why I'm trying to say that Wilson and Elvis were both fantastic artists.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos: You live in Finland?. You don't know what happened when blacks first started recording music. Much of their music was stolen and sung back by white artists and they never received a dime? Many of them died penniless. I realize where you are from, and you don't know the history of black music in this country. I have nothing against Elvis, but I hate to hear Jackie compared to Elvis, he was much better. Finland is nice country, you are lucky, don't ever think of living here.

  • @Jevezy I can kinda see your point. Shame that racism existed (and still does), that just sucks. What the hell does skin colour have to do with anything?

  • @GoodGuitarSolos : As a white guy who lives in Finland, I can understand your question about skin color, and I don't expect you to understand. In this the USA, the great Land of Brave, Home of the Free skin color has everything to do our day to day existence. Too complicated to express here to just suffice to say, I wish you all the best and I hear Finland is a great place, I have a good friend in Norway. Peace!

  • @Jevezy It is a shame that skin colour affects everything. I hate how black man can get much worse treatment from police compared to white man, for example. People should all work together, not against themselves.

Thanks a lot. Peace to you too!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos he white thats why he more popular, hes not as good as this man. you understand now white ass

  • @MrKareemRuiz Read the comment aimed for Jevezy and you'll see what I mean. I love black culture and music, the colour has nothing to do with the quality.

  • @Jevezy Elvis was a performer not a songwriter. Do you judge Hendrix for not building his guitars instead of buying them?

  • @mikainen: How in hell can every great person who has ever used a musical instrument be expected to build them? That is a very stupid analogy to make. When it comes to singing and performing on stage, you either have it or you don't, Jackie Wilson had it., Elvis was mediocre when compared with Jackie Wilson and it will be cold day in hell before I let any one of you make Jackie Wilson out to be irrelevant and Elvis to be more talented than he was.

  • @Jevezy I was comparing it to writing songs and performing them. Too different things. You know, 'building' songs and using them. Clear enough?

  • @mikainen: No, it is not clear enough. You make a musical instrument and you write a song, apples and oranges man. When Beethoven composed his symphonies it did not matter that he did not make any of the instruments used in his symphonies. His gift was writing incredible music. The talented folks who create and make musical instruments hardly ever use them to perform professionally. That is quite different to a singer who can compose songs, sing them and dance to them.

  • @Jevezy Not everyone who sings can write songs. Not everyone who acts can write plays. I think we are done here. Maybe we should just listen Jackie for a change. :)

  • @mikainen I do not have a problem with anyone, as long as they do not try to put down Jackie Wilson I am cool. Peace!

  • @mikainen FU

  • @tommiexander He had the moves my friend

  • @tommiexander Amen to that!

  • @tommiexander It's funny how you mention that people compared Mr. Wilson to Elvis because Elvis clearly immitated his dance style in Viva Las Vegas in the scene he does with Ann Margaret. Jackie Wilson even visited the set and took a picture with Elvis. I'm sure that Mr. Presley studied Mr. Wilson a great deal.

  • @shannonD68

I cannot believe how you and another poster can't even comprehend what I was saying in my post. You all can't be that dense....I won't even try to explain it......

  • @tommiexander You clearly misunderstood me. I was merely making a statement. Your posting happened to be the first posting I read on Elvis. I was just stating an opinion I always had regarding what I saw Elvis do in Viva Las Vegas, and the comparison I made when I first saw it years ago. I never knew anyone else made the same comparisons until I came to this video. My post wasn't meant as argument against what you said. I like your other posts and respect what you said. 'Just my opinion, sir.

  • @shannonD68

People are often comparing Jackie Wilson and Elvis because of their similar look and style, and the way they moved when they were performing. To interpret what I said in my post; the moves of Elvis was meager in comparison to the way that Jackie Wilson moved. Jackie started his career a year earlier than Elvis, so it is obvious that Elvis admired Jackie and tried to copy his style. Jackie's vocals blew Elvis vocals out of the park. But it was stated that Jackie admired Elvis also.

  • @tommiexander 'Very well stated my friend- totally in agreement with that. Hell, I admired the hell out of Elvis myself, and he's from my mother's generation like Jackie Wilson. I wouldn't miss his movies on tv as a kid. I thought they were both fantastic and outside of the Elvis's occassional moves and Jackie's hairstyle, thought they both had very separate and distinguishable voices and musical styles. -Good post tommiexander.

  • Jackie Wilson and Elvis Presley were great friends... And I quote Jackie regarding Elvis: 'A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis'. Jackie Wilson

  • @mattchogan

well ALL THE other black singers would like their royalties from Elvis stealing oops I mean using their songs!

  • @anngbaby why don't they go to the grave & get them Asshole?

  • @mattchogan

I read that quote in a book. But it wasn't a book that Jackie Wilson himself wrote. so how does anyone know if Jackie actually said that. Because I can't see why any Black entertainer would have to copy off Elvis Presley. Now Ike Turner said himself in his book that early in his career, a young truck driver would come in to the club regularly and watch he and his band perform. It wasn't until the man became famous that Ike realized that the truck driver had been Elvis Presely.

  • Jackie Wilson and Elvis Presley were great friends... And I quote Jackie regarding Elvis: 'A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis'. Jackie Wilson

  • How about we get all the racist bull shit out of your asses. We live in completely different times. Stop looking at skin and just listen. Artist copy artist. And they will continue to copy eachother regardless of skin color.

  • @paulietrev1 lol @ you being from the U.K

you people have no culture whats so ever.Always obsessing over american artist/music

no wonder immigrants are taking over over there

  • @DeportAnchorBabies Shut the fuck up , you have no idea what you are talking about ..immigration over spill is the fault of the goverments not of its residents ..fucking idiot ..We have lots of culture , people from all ovetr the world come to uk to experience our history ..If I like Elvis or any other american singer then thats my right ..who are you to judge me ..fucking Nazi !!!

  • @paulietrev1 You dont have any culture

curry is the most popular dish , not fish & chips

Music like rock, garage, dancehall, reggae, etc etc is most pop among the youth, not classical

But this isnt anything new because you have been copying american culture for some time now

  • @paulietrev1 You've got a hell of a lot of nerve calling someone else a nazi when it is you who are making idiotic, racist remarks. More white people use drugs than black people. As for black people having guns - who brings those guns into our community? It aint black folks for the most part. that's for sure. And you act as if white people don't use guns to shoot other people both black and white. P.S.- If you find blacks to be so repugnant why are you watching this video?

  • @MsAppassionata who's racist ? not me you jack ass !! i have spent a lot of time in the usa ..your prisons are full of blacks ..they out number whites10/3 ..fact .

you know nothing about me ..you have a chip on your shoulder ..because i have an opinion does'nt make me racist you dumb bitch .

jackie wilson is great and considering i have south africans in my family i wonder how they would feel i they thought i was racist which i am not ..racist is'nt about colour it's about where you are from.

  • @paulietrev1 That is possibly one of the dumbest responses I've ever heard. "...racist isn't about colour it's about where you are from."? Really? I thought it meant being a bigot against people of another race. Using that criterion I think you more than qualify, whether you're too stupid to realize it or not. As for the amount of blacks in prison: Aren't you aware of the fact that white people control the courts, the prisons, and the police force? You don't arrest your own like you do us.

  • @paulietrev1 Otherwise, there would be a whole lot more white people from suburbia and Wall st. in jail. Haven't you ever heard of racial profiling you half-witted moron? Where I live 95% of the black people who get stopped the police are not charged with or arrested for any crime. There's no reason for them being stopped other than the fact that they are black. White people only get stopped by police when it appears that they are in the process of committing a crime, and not always even then.

  • @paulietrev1 I had to stop the song to say this. Appreciate this fantastic song and artist and stop muddying up the waters with all this hateful back and forth.

  • @paulietrev1 P.P.S. You say that black people are lazy? We're not the ones who forced others to do our labor for no pay while we sat back on our lazy asses. Most black people I know want to work but can't find jobs because racist white people like you will only hire them, if at all, as a last resort.

  • @DeportAnchorBabies daft twat ..get over your self !

  • @paulietrev1 Most drugs in america are in white suburbs , not the ghetto

Most drug users are black , not white

Not only that but whites are more likely to use a wider variety of drugs

  • @DeportAnchorBabies You talk out of your Ass ..Memphis in the USA is the most dangerous city ..because it's filled to the brim with Black trash ..rotting gun ridden crime ..open your eyes idiot

  • @paulietrev1 No you talk out of YOUR ass.You arent even american....a silly little crooked toothed brit speaking on things american , lmao

  • @NicolaWriter I know they are alway bring this elvis bull to every video about a talented black male artist, It like they are trying to prove something. every mj video, has a comment about elvis...wth. The media keep saying mj was inspired elvis eventhough he said time and time againg that he didnt care for elvis music. It was guys like jakies wilson and james brown that inspired him. Mj had no respect for elvis as an artist. Why the media don't refer to james and jackie when talkin about mj.

  • its one of many Michael Jackson's favorite artist of all time

  • When Jackie Wilson was in a coma for years,it was Elvis who helped pay his hospital costs. They were mutual friends, and Elvis showed his respect with his money. He helped blacks, whites, and anybody else he could.White teens liked black artists in the '50s like Chuck Berry who style was more like his,.Ray Charles,Fats Domino,Little Richard,The Platters,Lavern Baker and others.

  • love it :), thanks for posting.

    nearly makes me cry!

i have it in my jukebox as well.

  • @paulietrev1 Ah,continuing with the self-aggrandizing.Typical of you looney white elvis fans

" if elvis the white man hadn't of taken up the Black man's creation , it would be nowhere today"

Blacks were fine, singing their own songs and creating their own genre of music for their own people.Who gives a flying shit that it took a white man, imitating a black man, to introduce a bunch of stupid, ignorant whites to negro music?

  • Life for Jackie Wilson was not easy. Out of the "Black Bottom" on,Detroit's lower eastside and member of the "Shaker's Gang". Everyone in Detroit, at least the kids who grew up in the 50's, black and white knew who the Shaker's were, including 12Th &Webb, Westside fellas. His life soared and ebbed. His death was tragic. His voice, a gift from God, pure magic. Never ever be another Jackie Wilson. RIP.

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Another pissed -off cracker.

  • @paulietrev1: What BS! You have the damn nerve to actually say that Elvis had to sing back the songs of black singers so that they would get a break in the music industry. How far down the stupid tree did you fall boy? Elvis did not do shit for blacks except sing back their songs for a racist whites who won't listen to black singers. Stop trying to make him out to be more important than he was man, this BS about him loving all the singers whose songs he sung back is just that BS.

  • @Jevezy Elvis loved the Blacks ..he grew up with the Blacks ,Elvis worshipped Jesus with the Blacks Elvis has Black Heritage in his family..hardly racist is he you dumb fucker ..To call all whites racist in the 50's is stupid on your part and makes you look like a racist dumb mother fucker with a chip on your shoulder about white folks.

Elvis did loads for Blacks and Whites musically and privately he helped Black families in Tupelo and Memphis , he gave millions to charity . now fuck off

  • @paulietrev1: You are the racist dumb mother fucker. Elvis loved blacks, give me a fucking break jackass. I don't give a damn what you post, the truth is he sang back other singers songs - both black and white, if you want to be a dumb ass and make it a race issue that is your problem. As far as I am concerned fool he sang back other folks songs - BOTH BLACK AND WHITE. Deal with it fool.

  • @Jevezy

Ok I like Elvis allot, but you are most informed...Elvis knew what would make him money...hell he was an actor as well! jackie also knew if he publically or privately 4 that matter spoke ill of Elvis, would have been the end of his career! certain things were done for appearances...and they were not always as they seemed.

  • @anngbaby Would you people stop making excuses for Elvis? I am getting sick and tired of you people making up excuses for why Elvis chose to record other folks songs - both black and white. The most stupid excuse is that "he admired them", that is BS. Elvis grew lazy and complacent and his record company had him singing back other folks' songs. How damn pathetic. Get a grip on yourself and see the truth.

  • @Jevezy all i can say dumbfuck you don't know much about elvis do you ..do your fucking home work before you diss elvis presley ..i don't know how this world has evolved with dumbfuckers like you on the planet holding it back !! fucking pond life

  • @paulietrev1 elvis presleySWEETS,BUT,HE,LIKE,BLACK,SONG,LOL

  • @paulietrev1: You are a white racist fucktard who lives in a world of his own, your ignorance is amazing, you actually think that Elvis was singing back black folks' tunes so that the white racists like you would listen to them. Then tell me clown why in hell was he singing back white folks' tunes as well? Elvis had mediocre talent, he was good, but not that damn good, he made a living singing back both BLACK AND WHITE folks songs. Learn to handle the truth dumb ass..

  • @paulietrev1

Why do you keep refering black people as " The Blacks"...WTH. Listen weather you like it or not elvis copied black artists. He was the justin timberlake of his time. He got extremely famous for what black artist was already doing, all because we lived in a racist country that refuse to pay black artist their dues, they would rather glorify their copy cat white artists. Its not good to be a copy cat, that why elvis never grew as a artist, he didnt know how to, he didnt innovate

  • @NicolaWriter By the way I just looked at your page ..for you to slate Elvis is a joke ..most of what you listen to is shit and lacks any musical strength either and you dress like a Goth ..well no account for taste then !!! BURNED

  • i love this song!i tell my friend all the time you better stop doggin me around!real song just like life keep it real jackie wilson love you memphis tn.

  • @NicolaWriter Well if you cannot accept what what Elvis did for 20th Century music then you are simply iggnorant..Elvis opened the doors for Jackie Wilson and other Black singers in the 1950's and 60's to have their music played on white radio stations in the USA .

The effect Elvis had on our culture and music was far bigger than any artist has today has on society .Elvis is still being talked about 34 years after he has passed away and that alone shows you the effect he had on the music.

  • @paulietrev1: You are a lying white racist jackass, who cannot handle the truth. LMAO!

  • I am a Michael jackson,Elvis Presley and a Jackie Wilson fan. U guys stop acting like you belong to some pansy fanclub and enjoy good music.

  • @azlolapop: Yeah, but then again Jackie was a legend, no one could be like him.

  • @azlolapop: Elvis wanted to be like every talented black and white singer, so he compensated by re-recording their music. Pathetic!

  • This is soul. How did we ever get away from it? I really love this sound and song.

  • Sorry Paulie, misread who sent it. First time commenting. Elvis and Jackie, who I loved both, had talent that they did not steal but was given by our God Almighty!
