Jackie Wilson was the last entertainer to play at the Ablee Square Movie. The Albee had some wonderful Music Shows when I was coming up. It's a shame they tore that beautiful building down with all it's marble and beautiful interior. Especially for a very ugly Mall which lasted only a few years before it was torn down.
The only thing MJ had over Jackie was that he wrote his own lyrics. Jackie had the voice over MJ and many other singers (only some opera singers could match him) and he certainly had the dance moves and sex appeal to back it up. All of MJ's dance moves were choreographed, Jackie was a natural on stage. There's a reason why MJ, Elvis and James Brown were all inspired by this man's stage presence. He was the complete package.

Elvis came down to a club in L.A. one night and helped Jackie fill the club. They were friends. As far as singers are concerned the only real competition Jackie ever had was Little Willie John.

I love Elvis Presley, but I never thought for a minute he could touch Mr. Excitement. Jackie Wilson was a generous guy, and he always claimed they took from each other. When Beethoven composed his symphonies it did not matter that he did not make any of the instruments used in his symphonies. His gift was writing incredible music. The talented folks who create and make musical instruments hardly ever use them to perform professionally. That is quite different to a singer who can compose songs, sing them and dance to them.

People are often comparing Jackie Wilson and Elvis because of their similar look and style, and the way they moved when they were performing. To interpret what I said in my post; the moves of Elvis was meager in comparison to the way that Jackie Wilson moved. Jackie started his career a year earlier than Elvis, so it is obvious that Elvis admired Jackie and tried to copy his style. Jackie's vocals blew Elvis vocals out of the park. But it was stated that Jackie admired Elvis also.

Elvis came down to a club in L.A. one night and helped Jackie fill the club. They were friends. As far as singers are concerned the only real competition Jackie ever had was Little Willie John.

I love Elvis Presley, but I never thought for a minute he could touch Mr. Excitement. Jackie Wilson was a generous guy, and he always claimed they took from each other. Not to take from Elvis, but I thought Jackie had the better moves and vocals. Jackie was far more expressive, and wrung more out of his songs. to the end of Mr. Wilson's career many entertainers have said he sang each song like it was his very first time, and acted out each line like no one ever did.

To interpret what I said in my post; the moves of Elvis was meager in comparison to the way that Jackie Wilson moved. Jackie started his career a year earlier than Elvis, so it is obvious that Elvis admired Jackie and tried to copy his style. Jackie's vocals blew Elvis vocals out of the park. As for the amount of blacks in prison: Aren't you aware of the fact that white people control the courts, the prisons, and the police force? You don't arrest your own like you do us.

@paulietrev1 Otherwise, there would be a whole lot more white people from suburbia and Wall st. in jail. Haven't you ever heard of racial profiling you half-witted moron? Where I live 95% of the black people who get stopped the police are not charged with or arrested for any crime. There's no reason for them being stopped other than the fact that they are black. White people only get stopped by police when it appears that they are in the process of committing a crime, and not always even then.

When Jackie Wilson was in a coma for years,it was Elvis who helped pay his hospital costs.They were mutual friends,and Elvis showed his respect with his money.He helped blacks,whites, and anybody else he could.White teens liked black artists in the '50s like Chuck Berry who style was more like his,.Ray Charles,Fats Domino,Little Richard,The Platters,Lavern Baker and others.

Life for Jackie Wilson was not easy. Out of the "Black Bottom" on,Detroit's lower eastside and member of the "Shaker's Gang". Everyone in Detroit, at least the kids who grew up in the 50's, black and white knew who the Shaker's were, including 12Th &Webb, Westside fellas. His life soared and ebbed. His death was tragic. His voice, a gift from God, pure magic. Never ever be another Jackie Wilson. RIP.

@NicolaWriter Well if you cannot accept what what Elvis did for 20th Century music then you are simply iggnorant..Elvis opened the doors for Jackie Wilson and other Black singers in the 1950's and 60's to have their music played on white radio stations in the USA .
The effect Elvis had on our culture and music was far bigger than any artist has today has on society .Elvis is still being talked about 34 years after he has passed away and that alone shows you the effect he had on the music.
