I wonder why Annie chose this song to cover. Does she believe her love life is like this song says. Is she in love with someone she can't have. That is what I feel this song is about. Loving someone you can't have.
"Closer Now"/"Pattern of my life" has always been my favourite song, although it's not a real Keane song. It has been my first I played on the guitar and it will touch me forever. I can so understand Annie Lennox' choice. :) Her version is great, of course not the same than with the writer's voice and passion, but really lovely. And I like that she changed the title because I always thought this section highlighted the meaning of the song.
It's okay. The original version is absolutely sublime. Tom Chaplin has the best voice on the planet in my opinion. He actually wrote this song too, not Tim Rice-Oxley.
I am sorry if I conveyed the wrong information about the writers of, "Pattern of My Life". I took the information from, The Annie Lennox Collection liner notes. Actually, Annie credits Keane, (Chaplin/Rice-Oxley/Hughes/Sancer) the entire band as the writers of "Closer Now". All I know is,Tom is a brilliant songwriter and Annie will bring his writing talents to a new audience.
Oh, nothing was incorrect. I was just referring to the fact that it's usually Tim behind most of the songs. This is only song I know of that Tom genuinely wrote himself. I'm sure Tim and Rich helped though, so they can take credit too. :)
I am so glad you posted this song! It will be interesting to see what people think,(since you can't leave any comments on Annie's video). I love this song! Annie's voice is so powerful!
micsandlennox - I lOVE this song. I think Annie disabled the comments because she was bored with all the negative and childish comments people put on the "Shining Light" video. I agree with her decision.
dont like me.....the originis is awesome. Thx Annie...but this is other song :(

The original is, as already said, sublime. But this cover is brilliant too!
Though, Tom is my favorite singer of all.

That's what I figured and I agree with her decision too. Everyone's comments on this video seem to be respectful, so far.
