  • Great recording!!! I was in Germany in 87. I found it o a rack. I lent it out back in the US. So much for that. Greaqt to hear it again. Love ya JLL

    Rich

    So Texas

  • Seems like y'all consider this a great Country song by JLL. I don't disagree, but it feels like gospel to me. Whichever, it is especially good.

  • This song was recorded Oct,5,1970. It was never released on any of Jerry Lee's albums, It's only available on the Bear Family Box set, " Mercury Smashes ... And Rockin' Sessions". Fantastic, Gotta Love the Killer. His "Mercury - Smash" Years are his Greatest Recordings. (1963 - 1978)

  • Jerry Lee, love you!

  • Jerry Lee Lewis is old school. If this rendition was a sentiment to someone who raised him this is the way he recognized and loved her. Since during his day any relation with a black woman no matter her role would have killed his career this truly had to be someone he loved and who loved him. I don't see why anyone would call this a disgrace someone took him in raised him even at her own peril/danger in those days and did the best she could.

  • wow

  • I am sure this song was never released officially in the States.

It was considered too racially sensitive at the time but I understand

it was a big hit in Europe. Even today it is only available on import

box sets from Bear Family Records (Germany).

I was lucky to get it on a HQ bootleg

  • McGowan78 What is your problem ? Your the disgrace for leaving those negatives those comments

  • It don't matter what you are looking for, Jerry Lee delivers every time.

    Just gorgeous

  • Lucky Jerry! Is this biographical?

  • This song should be played on country radio across this nation.

  • Isn't it ever beautiful? I was shocked when I first heard it.

    Jerry Lee is the best!

  • WOW, this is such a BEAUTIFUL song!! Especially since I've never heard it!

  • it definetly rubbed off on him

  • One Rolling Stone(the mag) critic called Jerry Lee Lewis the greatest country singer of all time. While I think that's

hyperbolic, Jerry Lee could sing anything as good as just about anyone! Great, great, performer!

  • Great song -and as it's said here, Jerry had a way of making most any song his own! As it's shown here, he's also a great CW-artist aswell as rock'n'roller!

  • mcgownan78. the disgrace here is you!!!!!!!! jerry lee is as good as jones or the hag.if you are a true fan you would know that he can sing anything and make it sound great.

  • oh, wow man

  • this man can sing anything he,s the tops

  • @littletwonk I agree with you. There is no 2 doubs he sure can sing. This is the 1st time that I have heard this song and to me it is fantastic.

  • fantastic souly countrystyle- great performance!!

  • Great vocal, nevertheless...

  • Wow - what a message. Interesting song.

  • i love this. thank you so much for posting this.

  • What a touching song. I wish it had been released back in 1970.

  • Wow this song is deep Ive never heard this one from jerry lee lewis Does anyone know when he recorded this song ?

  • It was recorded on October 6, 1970 but not

released until 2000! It's included on the

CD Box "Mercury Smashes..and Rockin' Sessions". If you're a JLL fan it's ok to buy

this set which is absolutely fantastic but

rather expensive too (around 180€-200€.) It

holds 10 CD's of all that JLL recorded between 1970-1978.

  • Man, you are a good fan of the killer.

  • good music from a legend!!!!
