I go to house shows all the time because they are more inviting to me than a club. It feels more like a community event that is fun, unlike a bar where it's often way too loud, smokey even, and not intimate.
There is a disparity of places that young people go to express themselves. It seems only natural that they would find some way to be creative. good job for showing us that they have!!

M'boro has a similar, if much smaller, network of "show" houses, and there are several bands I can think of off-hand that won't play anywhere else. It's not just an "I can't get a show anywhere else" sort of attitude.
