  • Very Nice!! I have a vid on youtube of my homemade turntable. not as upmarket as yours though.

  • Could i take the schematics for cutting the wood, etc?

    Thanks, amazing!!

  • @bocatablanco

Haha, don't have any schems but I'm glad to be of service if you need any advice, cheers! And Thanks!

  • well done!!

  • @bronskiwantsyou

    Thanks!

  • Simply BEAUTIFUL piece of craftsmanship! While I have the skills to produce one, there's NO WAY I'd have the patience! lol Hell...My patience runs out waiting for coffee in the morning! lol

    GREAT job, and CHEERS!

  • @boagley1

Thank you! It takes nerves, sure. Time, maybe a little after you know what you're doing. Nowadays it's easy, the whole damn thing can be made with CNC-machines. :) This one is made by hand, there's a difference. Also all the important mechanical parts have been fixed with time by hand to fit as precisely as can humanly be done. :)

  • The talent of some people,eh! I wish I was this creative.

  • @wisenatts

Heh, thanks. It really isn't too hard to make, just a little precision work and iron nerves. :D

  • This is really beautifully made. I only wish I had the skills to make one.

  • @cranie4

Thank you. It doesn't take much when you know what you're doing. And nowadays you can get everything made by machines, just a little manual tweaking after the machining. :) This one is made by hand though. Hell of a job..

  • nice jamo speakers..

  • @brendanhaines1975

Those jamo's sucked. Now I have gradients and Jamo Digital 120 which are awesome for jazz and classical (and all other "light" music)

  • Which song is that starting at 26 seconds? I recognize it so well, but cant figure out what it is.

  • @Thermochron

Gunilla von Bahr... track is ehm.. not sure. She's a flute player.

  • IT is awesome! Where do you find the feet and the motor? I am contemplating building something using a rega arm, and the drive system the way you have yours setup. What you have there is beyond my capabilities, I will be using wood as the plinth, and maybe having a custom aluminum platter made for me. If you have any opinions, suggestions, I would love to hear them. Make it a great day! Jeff

  • @jrbuck9669

Everything else is made by myself but the arm and the motor. Motor is from some Rotel turntable, it has very little "wobble" so it spins evenly and straight. I'd like to see what you come up with too!

  • Better still if you post a series of articles as a project, showing all. --This is great.

  • @viking1au

Yea, it's not possible anymore but thanks for advice.

  • @Davethreshold

Other vid for new speakers, jamo digital 120. These are D590.

Arm is modded Rega RB250 and cartridge Denon DL-300.

  • Great stuff! I've been thinking of building one, then I turned around and bought a Technics SL1210M5G Check out my gear in my bio!

You should explain more of your choices, and how you built it etc. :)

Your comment about the Phono-Box cracked me up. LOL You should try a Spectral DMC-6. - the quietest phono pre that I've ever used. They go for about $600-$700 USD on the net.

What kind of arm and cartridge are those? I can't tell. Tell us about your speakers. DIY also?

    Dave

  • @Davethreshold

    answered above.

  • That's an amazing feat - to say the least. It looks like you very much understand the nuances required to "create" a true work of art - kudos to you, and thank you for posting this! Ken.

  • Very much appreciated, thanks!

It's my pleasure to share this to world, glad to see that so many people like it. :)

  • very nice :)

is it a touch - button on the front with the light? i was thinking of something like that.

  • Nah, nothing that fancy I'm afraid. :) Just a name plate.

  • Fantasic Turntable!! Well done! How long did it take to make?

Thanks for posting!! please post more.

  • I've made several, something like 4 different turntables. This is the one that stayed. It didn't take long to make when you already knew what you were doing. Planning and the other "prototypes" took a bit of time but can't remember how much. TT is made in 1996.

  • Ok, I posted another video of this turntable, check it out!

  • This is very nice, complements on a beautiful looking turntable. I am getting ready to dust-off my Technics SL B-10, replace streached out belt and find a good P mount cartrige replacement, can someone suggest a very good cartrige replacement for my table please??? Even the cheapest turntable is better than not having one. Peace and respect.

    D........................................;-)

  • Maybe Audio Technica AT92E if you can find one.

  • Oh,my ....

    Incredible! This is excellent !

Are you an audio engineer or some?

  • Thank you very much! Just figured out and studied as a hobby. Just a normal DIY guy, nothing more, nothing less. :)

  • Hi OJ

Absolutely superb equipment you have there . The turntable looks unbelievable . I can't imagine how good it sounds in real life . Do you prefer the analogue sound of a table or a CD ? I love the analogue , but like the convenience of Digital .. but I just to look at a quality table . Is there anything more pleasing to the eye than watching a beautiful turntable spinning , and the sound of Mozart ( or Sibelius ) singing sweetly from it ? Of course not , and it's good for the soul too.

  • CD sound lacks presence and warmth of the vinyl. It's due to sampling which is in cd, 44.1 and in the analogue out like vinyl, reel or casette it's infinite. CD lacks the fine details. Analogue is way to go for real music enjoyer and listener. I am not saying that CD sound can't be good, it's just not the same like vinyl etc. Glad you like my TT!

  • Try a non oversampling DAC based around a couple of Tda1541a chips fed from a clocked transport and it's pretty good, very smooth 3d imaging etc.

I als use an Oracle Delphi T/T into valve amplification and so enjoy the best of both worlds

  • Yea, I know there are good DAC's etc. They just cost arm'n'leg.

  • hello

did you make the tonearm as well?

  • Hi!

No, it's modded Rega RB-250 tonearm. Thanks for the interest!

  • Very nice turntable.

  • Thank you very much!
