  • Wow its 1992 in this clip, 18 years since the songs debut in 1974 and they still don't know the name of that song?

  • the name of the song is actually Obećanje - Ljupka Dimitrovska..... seriously. look it up

  • It's funny that in every version of this unknown titled song that Bob always sings the same part.

  • I hate Elmo!!

  • anyone know the name of that song

  • @angelface1000 the name of that song is Obećanje - Ljupka Dimitrovska.... seriously look it up

  • From Episode 3079.

  • Does anyone else find it funny that at the part where Big Bird's singing solo is the exact same part where Oscar sings solo in the original version?

So it's still Carrol Spinney singing it, but with a different character. XD

  • 2 people thought they knew the name of that song. :P

  • Ah, Elmo looks like a baby in this one. Kinda cute. :)

  • what is d name of the song????/

  • @converschic66 Really?

  • I hope the cast members were remembering Northern Calloway and Will Lee when they performed this.

  • Where did Elmo come from, anyway?? He is not one of the Originals!!

  • The album version of this cover curiously omits Elmo's vocals... but then again, Elmo wasn't nearly as big back then as he is now, so it probably wasn't that big a deal.

  • OMG that sure is Lilias White!!! i LOVE her!!!

  • The original is better!

  • Ahh! They got OLD! AGHH!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • How did Rosita, Merry, and Prairie Dawn get up on that fence?

Did Rosita use her long-since-disappeared wings to fly them up there?

  • omg! this song is too addicting!! Its flushing my brains LOL!! Epic lyrics :)

  • omg! this song is too addicting!! Its flushing my brains LOL!! Epic lyrics :)

  • is that davids daughter the one singing in the beggining she looks like him

  • No, that's Lillian. She ran the Sesame Street Daycare for monsters. Lillian is played by Lillas White.

  • i think i like the one from the 70's better

  • there was a note that said there was an album version of this song. where can you find the album?

  • Speaking of SS's "Whats the name of that song? Does anyone know where I can find the 70's vintage Kids Show Theme song: "Here in the Magical Make believe" or "The Magical Garden of Make believe." I use to watch it and loved that PBS show.

  • Oh God, I can't believe I found this! Boy, this bring back memories

  • @MatthewTS22 this is worser than than the classic!

  • I love this vintage Sesame Street; when I have kids, I'll only let them watch the old shows. Today's SS, with Elmo and the computer animated fairy, just isn't any good

  • I like the one on the LP Bert and Ernie singalong. They combine Sing and that song at the end of side two.

  • mr hooper died? i thought he was in the new shows

    my niece watches .

    wow thats sad

  • your thinking about alan. mr hooper died in 1982. but david watched the store from after mr hooper's death then the actor northan callaway died so there was a guy named mr handford snuffy called him mr hand foot (snuffy was seen in 1985) and then in 1998 he left and then came alan. for the rest of the show he will be there unless he leaves

  • I didn't know Mr. Hooper died. How did he die

  • mr hooper died in 1982 he died of old age

  • The only version that i remember watching was when they were all singing this song on the rooftop...it was on youtube but it got removed :(

  • I remember that version too. Bummer it was removed, I loved that version

  • I vaguely remember this version, but yea the one on the rooftop is the one I really remember also. I loved that one. It was actually the last song on the Sing Along video, in which Biff and Sully were "fixing" a TV and at the end of the song, the antenna fell over. That was a classic.

  • It must have been fun for the cast to revisit this song 20 years after they first sang it, but this is awful compared to the 1972-73 version.

  • I like the slower tempo of the other version, as well. I also like fewer characters.

  • Hey what year did mr. hooper die??? I've been wondering that recently......

  • he died in 1982.

  • mmk thanks

  • I remember THIS version! I was 4 at the time, I rememebr sitting in front of the TV with my sister next to me and my mom in the kitchen, I rememebr it!

  • Yeah, what IS the name of that song?

  • NOSTALGIA!! IT BURNS!!

  • I love this song. I'm just now getting back into being obsessed with Sesame Street (I started watching again about last year) and I just found this. I swear I heard it before. Maybe it's nostalgia?

  • ahh this is driving me crazy! who are the first two people singing?

  • Lillas White and Bob McGrath

  • Both of their voices are beautiful.

  • @MarshalGrover

What did Lillas White do on the show besides singing? She was a blossom at that, though!

  • This Song Happened 17 Years Ago.

  • Cute.

  • This year marks 40 years of Sesame Street, and they still haven't figured out how that song goes. Some things never change. =)

  • Oh Really?. Gabrielle261.

  • sesame street : what's the name of that song again on 1999.

  • at 1:25 the green monster, what is he`s name ?

  • oscar the grouch

  • Oscar?

  • I know for a fact that there is a version just sung by Ernie and Bert. I wish someone could upload it!

  • Go to Sesame Workshop's site.

  • i dont it just is because sometimes we go out to places and people are like snap arent you gordon and also at school teachers are always asking for autographs. but dont get me wrong it has its perks like free basketball game tickets and being invited to events.

  • omg. this is soo embarssing roscoe orman is actually my dad in real life.

  • I don't see anything embarrassing about that. I think it's cool.

  • Really? He's famous! How is that embarissing?

  • @conversechic666 You should never be embarassed these people put smiles on the faces of millions of Childeren everywhere

  • is he? wel what if he met a dinosaur?

  • @conversechic666 Wow!! That's cool! He's an awesome Gordon!!

  • @conversechic666 really!!! ur very lucky

  • I've got this version on the Platinum Too CD.

  • Great version of this song! I also wish they show prarie doing a dance with those shoes on.

  • So. '74, '87, and '92. How many others have there been?

My favorite part of this one is the three girls on the fence. (What was the name of that raspy-voiced yellow monster on the right, again?)

Big Bird got the part of the song Oscar usually has.

  • The three girls on the fence were Rosita (the blue monster), Prairie Dawn (the pink girl) and Merry Monster.

  • Theres also a 1998 version with Ernie and Bert and a 2004 version with the current cast from the DVD "Whats the name of that song". :O)

  • Okay, okay. So we've got:

1974 - 1st appearance; the cast, Herry, Bert, Oscar, The Count

    Early 80's - Forgetful Jones + cowboys

1987 - The cast from the "Sing Along" video

    1992 - This one

    1998 - Ernie and Bert

2004 - The cast from the "What's the name of that song" DVD

Who knows, there could be others. I had no idea THIS one existed, so...

  • Oh yeah I forgot about the early 80s version.

The orignal version is still the best (in my opinon) :O)

  • There was another version in 1998 with Herry, Gina, and some kids. Then in 2001, in episode 3952, the cast sings it when they have a sing along on the steps

  • or that's what I've heard at least. I learned of the Herry version from a comment on the '87 clip, and I saw the 2001 version on Muppet Wiki.

This is basically the version on Songs from the Street and Platinum Too. There are some very slight differences - only Telly "sang "we need the name of that song..." and Luis didn't sing "La de da de dum, la de da de" w/ Maria

I like this version, but I don't remember ever seeing Lillian. She has a great voice!

  • Okay, so now we're not just asking what the name of the song is, we're asking how many times it's been played. Lol.

  • @MarshalGrover Ernie

  • Another awesome classic song from our past!

  • Wow! I can't believe this has song has been sung so many times!

  • The '90's edition of what's the name of that song

  • Thank for that news update.
