where exactly did you say you bought these fairings? I have an 04 sv650 and want to do the same thing you did but can't seem to find a good place to purchase those fairings.
i love this thing, wanna get this bike so bad i think that this is the only bike that will be a good fit for my hight i am 6.3' what do you thing my legs would be cramped? i think the fairings look nicer then naked but i whats up with that exhaust looks too long
I'm considering buying a naked sv650s and purchasing the lower fairings seperately; rather than buying the full faired version. This option would mean i'd save £300 do you think its worth the hassle considering i'm a total n000b and it'll be my first bike lol
@GutTheCut This was my first bike that I purchased and owned. I learned how to ride on a Honda Shadow 600 (small cruiser). The SV650S is an alright beginner bike. It is predictable and light which are pluses. The downside to it would the clip-on bars and the fact that it will go 130-135mph.
SWEET MAN! Yeah I'm getting an SV650S in a few months but was looking desperately for a way to get the lower fairings.
And I mean the ones that go with the bike, not all of those custom ones, I love the look yours has, with the 650SF style fairings. How did you get these ones? Do you go to a dealer, or can you purchase them online??
Very nice bike man, looks so much more aggressive and sporty now!
@janneLehtinen No I didn't do this for performance gains. The bike OEM fairings weren't made with that type of aerodynamics in mind. I think if you were to see any gains in top speeds like that you would have to get a track set of fairings which is basically a solid one piece and probably change the gearing or tweak the engine somewhat.
Hi just wondered what year your bike was , and when you buy the lower fairing kits do they come with the brackets and such required to fit? thanks joekawasaki
Yes you can do the same thing to yours. Unfortunately you wont be able to purchase the plastics straight from Suzuki. I think Targa makes a set for the 02 model. I know for a fact there is a guy around here that owns a silver one in your body style that has full plastics and it looks pretty good.
Also PD - check out YTuser "Vigsta04", he rolls on a svs too plus he's got an M4 pipe recently fitted. He also plans to vlog in the near future... hopefully :-)
ill check him out... i still like the way my SV looks with and without the fairings =). Well if the suspension really is that easy to upgrade then im def going to have to take a look into doing that maybe next year as my project.
Actually I'm amazed that you've had it for 2/3 yrs & left everything stock. U don't know what you've been missing! Try to hook up with some folks that have upgraded the sv, thru forums or something & test ride 1 if they'll let u... trust me you'll kick yourself for leaving ur sv stock so long.
Hey but still even stock it's a sweet package & it gets great mileage + makes sweet sounds =)
Whatever makes u happy, that's what counts. Most of the upgrades to the sv are pretty easy to do, most of the parts swap right in from donor bikes straight onto the sv. The sv is a price point bike, Suz cheaped out on the suspension & brakes. If u change/improve those 2 areas you'll be amazed at what the sv can do - that's why it's such a cult bike & can always be found circulating on trackdays all over the world =)
Hey PD, nice bike either way bud. I prefer the SV-S w/o the full lowers tho, idk that's just me. I really like the little bikini bottom type thing (that's not quite a bellypan) too tho. The best svs setups to me are the full suspension upgrade/transplant, high mount M4 exhaust (best sounding to me), 5 spoke rims (a la Gladius), maybe a little bellypan for trackdays. I like no bottoms cause it makes the bike slimmer between the knees, always reminded me of gp250s =)
Yeah i opted for the standard mounted exhaust cuz its just easier to install and it was cheaper. purchased the yosh because it was cheaper as well and sounds pretty good. It has a baffle in it i think that i can unscrew but i dont want to get a power commander right now since i have no real need for it yet until i start getting money for trackdays. This was purely a cosmetic change to the bike to change it up some. I have had it the stock way for 2 years now. Guys over at svrider do some
plus it sets the bike apart visually from all the dime a dozen SS 600/1000s. When the bike is setup for trackdays like above. I just find it looks more muscular w/o lowers - some say it's ugly but who cares what they think anyway... When the noobs get smoked in the twisties on the brakes (or where ever) by some guy on a 'girls bike' that always gives the sv rider a grin behind his/her tinted visor =P =)
yes this is true. I still think my bike looks different than most of the 600SS bikes because really only the european and the kawi SS bikes are solid colors. Most of the Jap SS bikes have graphics going all over the place heh. Also people dont expect to see a bike that looks like this rumbling around. Im not the most mechanically savy person so some of those suspension upgrades and swaps that a lot of sv riders do im just not comfortable in doing on my own.
Instructions! Whats that? Looks nice. How hard is it to remove the front healight/fairing. I was thinking of going the other way if I found one of these. Going streetfighter look. Single round head light. Or the dual side by side HID. Or maybe even the very rare dual stacked.
You know what i've never looked into how many screws are holding that upper fairing on. I'll take a look maybe tomorrow and send you a message on your channel or maybe a tube mail and let you know. It shouldnt be too hard i would imagine.
Yeah i've seen some streetfighter SV650 and they look pretty sweet. I would def do it if i had the SV650 with the straight handlebars.
They look so nice fully faired

@gaivoron I'm 6'2", and have the SV650 naked version. It's a little compact on the legs, but do-able.

Nice ride man, I prefer naked bikes myself. Ride safe.

You've got a nice SV650s Phoenix! I'm more of a cruiser guy (due to my short legs), but I keep on looking at them, especially the SV650 and SV650s!
