If you don't mind waiting then buy it from the developers site, at the moment they got hammered hard with people buying and downloading it and their servers were unstable. If you want it right now, then buy it off of steam.
Some of the important ppl left Blizzard North and are involved in the making of this game. Also Matt Uelmen the composer from D1 and D2. Thats why it sounds so familiar :-D (I'm probably gonna cry about D3s music...)
as soon as the video started the music reminded me of D2. I love the guitars they have in the music. sounds exaclty like D2. Looks exactly like D2. 3D instead. same skill system, interface is different. But they have kept some of the good aspects of D2 for it. I might look into buying it
I'm so thankful that my friends on my own forum didn't bring up the topic of this game until yesterday. I don't know if I would have been able to contain myself waiting for it to be released. The more videos I watch of it, the more that old feeling of "must play Diablo 2" comes back to me. It's almost like a persons mouth watering at the sight of a juicy steak. Aaack, I wish to fall asleep now and only awake when steam pushes the game out to us.
Don't buy it from Steam. They're DRM will rip you off. Just DL the client from the site if you don't wanna rely on a secondary application to run it -_-
What? How will their DRM rip me off? I've bought lots of games from steam and have no problems playing any of them. Had I known at the time however that I could buy it directly from the developers so that they get more of the money before I made my purchase on steam, I would have just so they would get more money, but too late for that and as said, I've not had any issues with Steam or the games that I've bought on them and theres been plenty.
Whenever possible, buy directly from the creators of whatever intellectual property you are looking to purchase. They'll usually get bigger cuts that way.
I was watching one of these Torchlight videos and my better half was sitting at her desk (we sit back to back) and she heard the music and asked if I was playing D2 again. I had a good laugh since it's been a couple years since we've played D2 but the music is so memorable much as I think the music in Torchlight will prove to be memorable too.
It's got the best aspects of both as far as gameplay. The setting is smaller in the single player game, but the MMO (which starts development in a couple weeks) will be much bigger. I like it better than D2 right now, and I've played D2 since it was first released.

Buy the game from the Dev. Steam takes a big chunk of the revenue.

can't wait to play this game. D3 is still a long way from ever being released so this will be a nice game to kill the time.

Actually this music sounds just like Diablo II's Act 1 town music way more than tristram.

Pure awesomness! Looks like a worthy successor of Fate, can't wait till 27th October =)
Ps. The music background sounds a bit like Diablo I city theme, doesn't it?
