La Folia is an ancient tune upon which many composers, including Corelli, have composed variations, but the music heard here, so beautifully performed by Kathryn Lockwood and the U Mass Viola Ensemble, is by Michael Kimber, a violist and composer living in Iowa City, Iowa, USA.

I played this in my studios viola ensemble. It may not be the same version (but I think it is). It should be Michael Kimber's arrangement and you can find it on his website.

I can barely hear the lady at the beginning, what are they playing? I love this video. I also love the sound of a viola ensemble. Nothing can match it. I have been taking lessons for three months now and this is the kind of music that made me want to learn to play it. Hopefully I'll be able to play the birthday song on my 27th in May :) Thanks again for the great video; I really love this.
