As a Portland native, I was always frustrated that Drazen didn't get the playing time he deserved because of egos in Portland. Drazen was MONEY. If he had had the personality of Divac he would have blended in with his team better. It also would have been fun to see how he would have played with Sabonis since Portland drafted them both. Comparing Jordan with Petrovic (or with any other 2 guard) isn't fair.
Drazen Petrovic was one of the best european basketball players off ever, if not the best. I followed him in madrid and in the cibona. On the last years he was improving his basketball, getting stronger and getting also better player than in europe. I think you are being emotional. Drazen was a legend and a true champion. He is probably the best European player ever and i think it is a shame that we couldn't see him playing more in NBA. Drazen's main contribution was in popularizing basketball in Europe and making playing in the NBA the gold standard for Europe's best players. I am not sure..in USA u play three times a week..if u get a bad game, just don' t think about and keep on gaming..in Europe u do not have a second chance..I prefer European games..more tacthicals..defensive..in the NBA it' s just a race between the scorers...in a single match the Mavs culdo defeat the Pana with no prioblems..but I don' t think Dallsa should win a longer match...

This was at the old Chicago Stadium! I loved that place. Just watched 30/30 about Petro n Divac & wore-torn Yugoslavia, it was a very powerful documentary. Im glad Petro was honored for his contributions to the game; European, International, and NBA it was a great move putting him in the Naismith Hall of Fame.
Petrovic should have become one of the best players of the NBA in the 90's. I mean this kid had 112 point in a game back in Europe! He should have been easily the best European basketball player of all time. Even better that DIrk!

Drazen was amazing, one of the best basketball player i´ve ever seen. He was so competitive, so smart, so talent... I´m spaniard, a Real Madrid fan, when he was playing for Cibona with 18 years old, he smashed us several times. When he arrived to Madrid, i knew that it was for a short time, cause his real place to be was the NBA. I cried so long when he died, he was in his best NBA season, we were so happy for him... When i visited Croatia, i went to Sibenik... he was GREAT so GREAT!!!!
You are right he died bcs of his girlfriend but she didnt fell a sleep she wasnt a really good driver and road was wet so the car didnt stop when she hit the break and they hit in truck :( and they were going home from championchip..

The Trail Blazers didn't draft Jordan because they already had a shooting guard by the name of Clyde Drexler...you know...Hall of Fame shooting guard...one of the best players ever. So you can understand why they didn't draft Jordan. And Petrovic didn't get to play much at Portland because of the same thing. They already had Drexler. It make sense if you think about it.

@aceman42 That rumor has been around forever to discredit european players, and that, is false. Marc Gasol is one of the best defenders of the league, but he will never in the defensive quintets because only fight for his team, the stats doesn't care.
If you want to see defense, look the European basketball in 80's and early 90's(same NBA).

This was at the old Chicago Stadium! I loved that place. Just watched 30/30 about Petro n Divac & wore-torn Yugoslavia, it was a very powerful documentary. Im glad Petro was honored for his contributions to the game; European, International, and NBA it was a great move putting him in the Naismith Hall of Fame.

Petrovic should have become one of the best players of the NBA in the 90's. I mean this kid had 112 point in a game back in Europe! He should have been easily the best European basketball player of all time. Even better that DIrk!

@cesh16 i am not so much involved in basketball analysis and stats but i know who is Dirk and i have watched more and first time about D.Petrovic earlier this year and i can say that Dirk is nowhere close to Petrovic :D so any comparison between two is ridicoulus. @maduav Drazen had more potential that we didn't see but I think you can argue that Dirk has gotten a lot of fame and support through the Mavericks championship run this season,. If Drazen showed all of his potential I think he would been a bit better that Dirk.

Drazen was amazing, one of the best basketball player i´ve ever seen. He was so competitive, so smart, so talent... I´m spaniard, a Real Madrid fan, when he was playing for Cibona with 18 years old, he smashed us several times. When he arrived to Madrid, i knew that it was for a short time, cause his real place to be was the NBA. I cried so long when he died, he was in his best NBA season, we were so happy for him... When i visited Croatia, i went to Sibenik... he was GREAT so GREAT!!!!

You are right he died bcs of his girlfriend but she didnt fell a sleep she wasnt a really good driver and road was wet so the car didnt stop when she hit the break and they hit in truck :( and they were going home from championchip..

"Once brothers" was aired on Croatian TV last night...hard to say what to think. One thing is for sure - the Croatian guy that said to the camera "Vlade Divac? Cetnik!" is not speaking for the majority of Croatians. Other than that...Croatia cried again. Drazen Petrovic i a hero, a legend and a myth at the same time and in this case...the legend will never die!

The Trail Blazers didn't draft Jordan because they already had a shooting guard by the name of Clyde Drexler...you know...Hall of Fame shooting guard...one of the best players ever. So you can understand why they didn't draft Jordan. And Petrovic didn't get to play much at Portland because of the same thing. They already had Drexler. It make sense if you think about it.

@aceman42 That rumor has been around forever to discredit european players, and that, is false. Marc Gasol is one of the best defenders of the league, but he will never in the defensive quintets because only fight for his team, the stats doesn't care.
If you want to see defense, look the European basketball in 80's and early 90's(same NBA).

@aceman42 I didnt say that about you, I spoke about the press and the American Tv's. Drazen's defense was better than it looks, the Nets defense is so pathetic, so it is impossible to do anything. For me, Ginobili, is the best defender of the NBA, but he is nothing without the aid of her teammates.
What I say is that Drazen wasn't Joe Dumars, but neither the worst defender. He was right, only that.

He used to come 2 hours before training and practiced his shot,stays on training for two-two and a half hours,and stays 2 hours after training,too!

But I will say this, the NBA and the NFL is anti-white players. You look at all the best high school teams, both in football and basketball, it's generally white teams. I was a ballboy with the Nets when I was in HS and Drazen was always the first guy out there sometimes 2 hours before the game and I had the honor of passing to him and he literally did not miss!!!! One of the hardest working nicest guys ever in sports and Jordan respected Drazen's tenacity and will to win-RIP Draz........
