  • thers no such thing as osoto makikomi anyway the proper name is soto makikomi.......however the one show on this video is harai makikomi

  • Harai Makikomi is correct.

  • 100% Harai makikomi

  • I love this move, but if you forget to tuck the arm underneath in a breakfall motion near the end....god DAMN son, you can kill that inside shoulder. I've only done it once, but thats all I needed to put the power away and try the proper technique..

  • I'm afraid to do this throw a lot.

I feel like I will just get countered so I never to do it.

  • @wolfrox777 Sometimes you just need to take chances and always follow through to get that ippon. This vid is a great example of harai makikomi...so it would be nice if they would change the title.

  • wow awesome tech and execution . high skill

and it is harai makikomi not o soto makikomi

  • Amazing level of skill in the video! my jaw dropped

  • @peterscoop no

  • @crossfire1129 yes faggot

  • @peterscoop Hahaha! jk bro calm down.

  • btw, makikomi means sacrifice, or in judo to come down to the tatami with your opponent instead of maintaining your balance, there are heaps of different ways to makikomi good and bad technique alike.

  • @thepordage

Makikomi means "winding" technique. A sacrifice technique is called "sutemi waza".

  • rolling, not winding. to throw in judo often requires a form of rolling ones body, to roll with that motion to the tatami is a makikomi.

sutemi waza literally means the method of throwing ones-self, it is not however used to describe the modification of a throw.

ne waza, shime waza, te waza. are all how to's

the relevant holds, chokes and grips that fit thoses definitions are not named by those groupings. for sutemi waza the word makikomi is used to define the variation. good try though

  • @thepordage sutemi waza means sacrifice techniques, jsut as te waza means nand techniques and ne waza means ground techniques.

  • @nano4288 ok jigoro. but i think you'll find that's what i said.

Do you know the name for typing technique? at least take time to make comments coherently.

  • @thepordage Jigoro? You tell me to make coherent comments yet you open with some obviously facetious comment. Also not sure what that typing comment was about... perhaps you meant spelling? If you want to start judging grammar on Youtube posts then be my guest. I don't usually go through the same editing process on here as I would in other areas. As for what you said, it isn't what you said. It may have been what you meant, but you should learn to say what you mean.

  • looks like harai goshi to me.

  • Youtube ....... where everyones a black belt in judo

  • and in karate (all styles), bjj, sambo, muay thai....

dams KJ who critics world champions (whatever the sport) ....

  • @Klerbeaware Fuckin' second that.

  • @Klerbeaware and where everyone is as skeptic.

  • Idk why it would matter which technique exactly he was using anyway. In a competition nobody cares.

Here we're discussing subtle differences between closely related techniques which this judoka probably never even thought of. He just landed a throw and that's what counts

  • this is harai makikomi by inoue

  • Uki is thrown to the front, which rules out O Soto Makikomi all together. It appears to have started off as *Soto Maikikomi*, but in my opinion the finish is definitely Harai Makikomi.

PaulTheJudoka, looks like a winding action to me.

  • I think it's possible that he's throwing Harai Makikomi, if one of my Senseis said so, I'd believe right away. But, he's not wrapping, he just has deep overhand grip and he's twisting alot. Harai Makikomi. Makikomi means to wrap. He's not wrapping. On the other hand, he is sweeping the hip out. This COULD be just a Harai Goshi with a deep over hand grip. It just looks like Harai Makikomi because his grip got a bit loose and he had to bend over and twist more to get the guy over.

  • Three things:

    1. It's called Soto, soto means outer, O means big.

    2. Makikomi means wrapping, he's not wrapping.

    3. It's more of a Harai Goshi if I'm correct. Makikomi means twisting or wrapping, he's not turning his arm like he should to make it makikomi, he just has a really high even onto the back grip.

  • He's got his grip on one side of the gi, just looking at that it's not a Harai Goshi

  • It doesn't matter where your grip is, I know a guy in my Dojo who throws O Soto Gari and grips on one side of the body only.

Harai Goshi means Sweeping hip. Not sweeping hip with your hand EXACTLY on his lapel.

  • If my gi is a bit loose and you grab one side of it, you can pull all you like with an O Soto Gari but it'll be very easy to step out.

Everybody has preferences on where to grip but you do it entirely because you want to control and direct your opponent in a chosen direction.

Anyway, the reason he landed this throw was mainly because of the turn he made with his upper body. The sweep helped, but the tight grip and turn did most of the work

  • Yeah I agree, but I still think it's a Harai Goshi.

He just didn't get low enough.

Maybe you're right, I don't like to argue.

  • harai-makikomi, burro --'

  • Harai Makikomi

  • it is harai makikomi look at his leg sweep

  • It's Harai Maki Komi. The only reason people think it looks like something else is because his right hand was gripping just below the other guy's head. Though, this shouldn't really be a debate about which throw it was, but how good the throw was, coz it was brillaint.

  • This is Harai Makikomi like everyone says! I guess the video is posted by one of those BJJ guys!

  • O guruma

  • Not Osoto Makikomi, but Harai Makikomi

  • that's right!

  • harai makikomi

  • Yeah, like everyone else has said, it's harai makikomi.

  • my fave throw

  • it's harai makikomi

  • harai makikomi

  • OU la la celle la elle a intéré a bien passé!!!

    :S
