not equally, as he im pretty sure he is reducing the portion that goes to the "social safety net" and increasing the portions going to the health and education systems, which i would say are more crucial.
She is a useless Prime minister created nothing but a nation of high tax paying New Zealanders to fund Benifisceries that all vote for Labor (no surprise there). She is a liar, she speeds and doesn't pay fines. Both her and Winston Peaters have broken the law. It's pathetic that someone could and would find possible and logical sense in their brain to vote for this insane vial, deceitful excuse of a Prime Minister. Come on New Zealand we can to do much better than this!
I dont think there are enought words to describe how much i despise this woman. she is slowly destroying this country and i cant understand how and person man or woman could vote for her. how can a red-blooded hard working middle class average joe citizen vote for a communist lesbian feminist.. it defies all reason
I rate the editing skills of the maker of this video highly. Unfortunately there is no substance in this vid since many can take footage of a high-profile leader and arrange it in such a way (incl. music) as to portray that person in a negative light.
i dont agree with all the comments but i know i wont be voting her in again. her party has done nothing for me or my family..but what are the options..national, nz first, the green party, alliance??? there are no solid contenders..we need another person to take us forward.
We are corupt we don't have a serious fraud office! It has been replaced by a gang office. Surely you could of made a seperate office for gangs and kept the serious fraud office, i maen with your large PERCETAGE of the petrol and the pertorl price rising like it is surely you could of found the money?
"i don't think new zealanders would mind paying a bit more to see their doctor" - tony ryall. you do know he's a national MP don't you
so you advocate a free market but say government intervention (oh god so evil) if it "gets out of hand". this is exactly what happened when the government made the deal it did with GPs so you're actually agreeing with labour here.
where did i say i was impressed? you make no sense but i should really come to expect it.
it's a small surplus. it's better than a deficit. would you rather there was a huge surplus, so you could cry about over taxation (which is unfounded, as i've told you), or that there was a deficit (clearly a stupid thing to want)?
yes i'm the negative one because i'm not buying into the national party's doom and gloom rhetoric
there wasn't anything posted by anyone that was (intentionally) funny. and right wing humour usually involves varying degrees of racism and bigotry (ie. not funny at all)
I know ive got him there,Strange how the lazy bastards can spend money when it pleases them but not on their kids.I dont care if they are yellow, white or brown,I cant stand pricks that smoke and drink and have Sky tv and then moan about paying for a doctor.
"I cant stand pricks that smoke and drink and have Sky tv"
hmm nothing prejudiced here. wait, yes there is.
a doctor's bill of $25-$50 unexpectedly is hard for some people to pay. you know, like a family of five with one parent earning the minimum wage ($364.50 a week after tax). i find it amazing you don't accept this because most right wingers do and say it's bad but don't really want to do anything about it.
Their fault for having 5 kids,no bloody brains. Why have 5 kids if you cant afford to look after them. They still smoke and have Sky Tv.I dont need your tampered statistics,I have eyes. You seriously should go to the Casino or are you in the Wairarapa too?
fuck statistics and facts? geez, seriously? you go to a casino and from looking at people there, you jump to the conclusion that people (who might not even be the fucking same people) have sky tv, smoke, drink and don't pay for their kids to see a GP. where is the connection?
i don't need facts and statistics, MAN. i just KNOW those business roundtable secretly advocates using sweatshops. dude
i should also point out that even if you were completely right, that people apparently can spend money on alcohol and sky tv but then refuse to spend money on a GP, how will national make it better? they want to make it more expensive. that is not spinned in any way. tony ryall said "i don't think new zealanders will mind paying a bit more to see their doctor".
if you were right, national would make even more people just go to the ER
we have just a $200 million surplus now. that surplus was money that could never be spent on tax cuts because it was invested for the super fund. i've already explained that to you before but you haven't seemed to take it on board and instead continue to display amazing ignorance.
Where did the other billions go to?Oh thats right somebody else got the figures wrong.Amazes me when its election year there suddenly isnt money to spend.Seems like a cock up to me.
that's great to know how involved you are with the gay community and all but it is unsubstantiated and besides that irrelevant to any discussion unless you're actually discussing the gayness of peter davis
right wingers are so much more authoritarian than left wingers. being against gay people being allowed to marry is a good example of the hypocrisy of right wingers, and you.
what's even worse is that legislating against gay people achieves nothing. it doesn't affect you in any way if a man likes to suck penises. it's pure bigotry.
Funny how they can afford to smoke like a chimney, have Sky Tv,go to the pub, gamble at the T.A.B.feed on junk food but cant take the children to a doctor.Dont tell me these arent facts.Go to the casino and look at the poker machines. You talk shit.Have you been to the Casino?
i thought someone of your moral standing wouldn't go near a casino.
i will tell you they aren't facts because they aren't. are you telling me people at a casino are not taking their kids to their GP and that you know this for a fact? what's the connection between anything here?
what i would say is that maybe poor people are attracted to casinos in the hope of winning big. obviously most don't, but that's how casinos operate. maybe they want to win money so their kids CAN see a GP
i'm not sure where any communists are; but i see two fuckwits have been jacking off over each others' dumbness
with regards to the health system something needs to be done. did you want me to contest that?
as far as not being able to get a "kiwi nurse" is concerned i don't see a problem. what is the problem exactly? i mean it's obvious that you don't like them because they're brown and have an accent, but what's your smokescreen justification?
You would be lucky to get a kiwi nurse now in our hospital.I cant understand what they say.Same when you ring government depts. Its like being in India or China. We are fast becoming 3rd world but thats what Helen wants.State control and dependancy.Check out how many of Dear Helens Gay mates have got the World holiday plus a druggie. How the hell would the Rastafarian get into parliament in any other country. Then there was Georgina.Gays,druggies,trannies.Its like Rocky Horror parliament.
They havnt a balanced view to represent the public that voted the government in.Mind you the weirdos come in through the back door thanks to MMP.Are you telling me a self confessed dope smoker would normally be voted in or Beyer an ex gay hooker.
Thanks mate,my sentiments exactly.Amazing how quiet hftf is now.Our health service is a joke,3rd world.Helen would rather spend money on Hip Hop education and free world tours for the failed MPs.Cunliffe is a joke, like I said before,I have met him and had dealings with him.I cant say too much but dont trust him.He is full of bullshit.
no one's been replying to me and you haven't for a long time. do you think you've somehow come out with overwhelming arguments?
i bet you can't even remember the details of that hip hop thing. did helen clark personally approve it? did a labour MP? or was it just some nobody, who could/would have done the same no matter who was in government?
so you wouldn't have a problem with a higher tax rate for higher incomes (eg. 48c/dollar for incomes above $150,000) so that tax can be reduced or gotten rid of for lower incomes?
tax isn't punishment and like i said before, the dom post ran an article that said only 14% of nzers earned over $60k a year so in nz that's a pretty high income. at the end of the last national government that figure was 3% or 4%
If my taxes are going to eduction and health then I haven't got value for money. Neither have the thousands of people who were waiting for operations but then got cut.
In 2005, 53% of Maori boys and 20% of Pakeha males left school without level 1 NCEA.
Give me back my taxes please. I'll pay for private health and education thanks.
Why cant we,the people that pay for private health care pay less tax.We dont abuse the public health system. We dont go to the hospital for a snivelling nose.Check out the waiting rooms at the hospitals and see who is abusing our taxes.I suppose im being a racist as hftf has said.He will say its the poor people. Its the same people that I see at the casino on the pokies and the smokers.
You know things are bad when Doctors write to the media about the decline in their working conditions and when Surgeons admit that if they were to be diagnosed with cancer they'd be on the first plane to Sydney. Our Oncology care in N.Z has much to be desired.A woman I know was diagnosed as having cancer in her knee&there was talk of amputation.2nd opinion revealed she had a broken hip. Unbelievable.
will you say the same thing when you're a superannuitant who can't get health insurance because he's thought to be too risky?
you clearly are unwilling to understand poverty cycles and utterly deserve to not have your opinions respected by anyone
some people probably do smoke, drink and then can't afford to pay for a GP. i will not contest that. to say all is stupid. to not understand that they need help, not to be shunned, is inhuman.
I sympathize with superannuitants, they are treated like secondhand citizens here, they are treated unfairly and get a pittance, yes we agree on that.Thats why so many go to Aussie.I still say people that can afford Sky,gamble, smoke and drink have their priorities wrong.Children are first,Christ, why cant you agree with that or are you so ignorant. Its bloody education which they dont get from this government, its more important to learn culture than maths,ENGLISH,science.OH dont forget hip hop too.
maths, english and science are all taught at school. so is maori culture. hip hop isn't. that was a wananga that did something a bit silly; not a government policy.
clearly people should spend money on GPs for their children before their smoking addiction or alcohol etc. however, repeated GP visits and prescription can get very expensive even for people who aren't extremely poor. i don't think you can fault people for having sky - it's a way to deal with being poverty stricken.
that means make doctor visits cheaper (or even free), get people to quit smoking as much as possible. enjoying a few drinks (not excessive drunkeness, and not spending a ridiculous amount of income on it) and sky tv can be done. what are they meant to do all day? it's not like they can afford holidays.
I live in Manukau. My sons visits to the Doctor are free, as are his prescriptions. Based on that, there should be no sick children in Manukau but there are. In my "hood" parents of deprived children sit on the front porch drinking and smoking all day. They have Sky T.V and BMW's with chrome rims parked outside their state house. I'm paying a mortgage, no sky, no flash car paying more tax each year. Excuse me for being disenchanted with the Welfare state.
no sick children? uhh free healthcare does not mean no one will be sick. it's so that when people are sick they can get the healthcare they need.
and you're aware of loan sharks that charge ridiculous interest rates aren't you? you can get BMWs for a few grand or less off trademe. what should be done is make sure there aren't high income people in state houses stopping lower income people from getting in, if this is the case. supposedly national wants to do this, but so does labour.
Everybody managed without Sky a few years ago.Surely $60 odd dollars a month or $720 a year equates to a lot of doctors visits.Add that to $40 or so dollars a week for smoking and probably $80 dollars approx for drinking would be around $7ooo dollars a year and those figures would be very low with a lot of families.I have sky tv,spend maybe approx$20 per week on drink,I dont smoke and I have private medical insurance.I have to pay for the abusers through my tax.
a lot people can't afford health insurance so they are looked after by the government. ideally no one should need health insurance.
dude $80 a week on booze is extreme especially if you're spending $20. what makes you think they spend so much more? and not everyone who can't afford their GP smokes and drinks to excess. also it's important to take into account that doctors are always an unexpected cost and hard to budget for. not all medical centres are free for children
and aside from all of this, i wonder how many people do actually go to the ER instead of their GP. i have heard stories about it, but this was a few years ago and i suspect the number has gone down since doctor's fees have gone down.
I really think you dont see the real picture. This is rife in Auckland.Have you been to Auckland Hospital lately? Its an epidemic. The doctors shout at people in the waiting room to go to a GP unless really urgent. Its not as wonderful as you think. Our health system is just about 3rd world.Spending $80 dollars a week on booze is nothing,I know a few dickheads that double that easily and they wonder where their money has gone.Try going to a pub around GlenInnes and see for yourself.Get experience.
do you go there to auckland hospital all the time? if they have in fact spent all their money on booze and cigarettes, that still does not mean that they can afford their GP. quite the opposite. THIS IS NOT AN IDEAL SITUATION. they still deserve help regardless of whether or not they can pay. it might be they're not even aware when they should see their GP and when they should turn up to a hospital. what are these "dickheads'" incomes?
you haven't even read the act. if you did you wouldn't understand it.
clearly because labour is behind in the polls the EFA is helping them so much. people against the EFA usually say "it's not money that wins elections; it's ideas - therefore the EFA is unneccessary". if this is the case, what is your problem with labour being able to spend more (which isn't true)?
the nz herald isn't gospel
and that's like the 4th time you've said you're not talking to me anymore.
finally admitted labour aren't "full blown commies"
i'm explaining so you fucking know
how is the tax system "commy"? national also advocates a progressive tax system (though slightly less progressive)
the EFA takes more than one comment to talk about. it helps people know who's campaigning for whom, and stops people with less money being drowned out by those with more.
the repeal of section 59 means children now have the same rights as animals under the law
though i think more needs to be done. tax relief and income splitting for families are options (in addition to working for families), but national aren't the type of party to do that (maybe more likely on income splitting, but john key said he doesn't think it's a good idea).
income splitting is generally a more right wing idea but i don't really see the problem if it helps people raise their kids. i guess it could discourage some ppl from wrking
i'm not sure where you get bragging about your wealth (which in my mind is utter bullshit; i just can't bring myself to believe you're over 15 or 16) helps national's cause. you should be arguing reasons why national will benefit people (like, you know, people with mortgages and families, people who actually need help), not saying "i'm so rich so fuck you". it just doesn't make sense.
all it does is make it obvious you've got lots of money (cough) and you want more through a lame tax cut
i don't think 50k is rich and i'm not sure where you get that the labour party thinks 50k is rich. the highest tax bracket is 60k.
helen clark earns what - 300k a year? if you have cars that cost that much it's very safe to say you are out of touch with most new zealanders because most new zealanders don't earn that fucking much.
a few months ago the dom post had an article where they said only 14% of people earn over 60k a year so compared to lot's of people that's lots.
"You think you earn more than me... Haha... I'm quite happy to pay the highest tax rate in the country and I am also happy to forward some of my cash to te ropu Reipa (the Labour party)."
i think it important that it be recognised that this quote was rated down so it disappeared. it seems like some national party supporters have a bit of tall poppy syndrome. they couldn't bear the thought that you can have money and not be scum
you don't know what a communist is. communism is an economic system where the state regulates the whole economy. this means there are targets set by the government for each industry to meet (eg. how much bread is to be produced, how many shoes etc). the closest we've come to that was national under muldoon where you could be taxed 66c per dollar
new zealand, like all western countries, has a mixed economy. both labour and national support having a mixed economy.
"hftf1 is a communist and hates business, familys and NZ. He wants to see the state own the entire place, no tall popys - no good business or high achievers - he wants to dumb down the population.. he wants Helen to tell us how to do everything and wants to tax us more. Hes a commy! Hes scum and hes evil. Move to China or Russia you scum bag."
does it feel good to know that your mental inadquacy and general inadequacy as a human being makes you worse at arguing your point of view than i could
Its funny how both national and labour supporters both ignore their parties own lies and u turns. Personally I dont trust any political party cos at the end of the day, they all only care about power and will say whatever is need to get in and then do what they want when they're in.
I wish I could meet him in person too. To have a conversation and see where he's at. He doesn't come across as being much better than the last 2 Nat leaders. From what I've seen I can't say I'm confident in his ability for the top job. I'd like to have a yard to him about a few things 1 2 1.
if you're paying tax on $40k a year with a family of five, you're still not living particularly well. even if you're paying no tax at all that's $8000 a year per person. it's not a lot of money to raise a family with.
how so? maybe you can explain. if tax there are tax cuts (which i think there is some room for) some people can be taken off working for families. the poorest people can probably receive less than they used to (but not much). under capitalism there will inevitably be rich people and poor people. what working for families does is try to make poor people a little less poor even if they didn't earn the money themselves.
i realise govt departments cost money, but it's a cost that comes with helping people. but it's how it is; you cant not pay people to do their jobs to handle all the paper work that comes with working out how much each person is allowed to get. tax cuts might work for some, but for the poorest it doesn't because they don't earn enough in the first place. by products of poverty (crime, no education) are also things it's best to avoid as much as possible as a society.
"lol. Yeah and with less TAX they wouldnt need working for familys. AND we wouldnt need to waste $ on yet ANOTHER Labour govt dept which bleeds money."
bullshit. if you earn $20,000 a year and have a family of five you'd still be poverty stricken even if you paid no tax at all.
typical leftie spin! how about putting some FACTS into your arguement, you know those little inconvient truths, like the electoral finance act, or maybe curbs on the media operating in parliament, or that "values" are to be taught to children in schools (whose values I wonder) can you name ANYTHING this govts done for democracy?
Pricks like you are a horst wessel away from denouncing your neighbours!
It's unfortunate the background music is far too loud - louder than the dialouge. I cetainly agree with her opinion on Dc Brash though. Where is Doc Brash now by the way?
We definitely have a good one there. All the best Clarkie!
Your cartainly quick to assume your ignorance. I am a loser, I won't call you out on that one. But I work. And the economy isn't screwed. it's been flying for years. the world economy is in a downturn. but that's ok cause Cullen has a fat pile of cash he's been hanging onto for just this rainy day.
that all very nice but I'm a NEW ZEALANDER!! which means if I feel that the present govt is taking us down a slow & dark path towards a dictatorship it's my right to speak out against it!
You may think Helen Clark's the second coming but I base my opinion of her on what her govts done & I have every right to spread that message
... but then as you're another brainwashed leftie humming the "internatinale" I'm not surprised that you couldn't articulate your question without demeaning yourself through your use of gutter language
Perhaps you meant to ask how's Clark like Mugabe? simply put a country with a strong economy being slowly turned upside down over a dictators rule along with increased curbs on free speech as said dictators paranoia increases
After bankrupting the entire country through corruption & involvement in the war in Zaire (africa's WWI) Mugabe has made an estimated 300,000 homeless in forced evictions & created hyper inflation levels that rival post WWI germany.
Robert mugabe came to pwer in 1980 after the end of Smiths white only government, at the time the UK & commonwealth govt's thought that Rhodesia having a successful hand over from whites to black rule would encourage South Africa to follow suit, this is why the killing spree his militia went on against rival ethnic groups in matabelee' land was ignored.
Typical leftie spin, it's always the business community & christians that they tag as being part of some hidden agenda rightwing conspiracy... yet it's her that's clamped down on free speech in this country
HELEN CLARKE'S GOT TO GO BEFORE SHE BECOMES EVEN MOR LIKE ROBERT MUGABE!!
But kiwimendor, everything she said is correct. BTW, the right wing does have an agenda: creation of a fundamentalist theocratic state. Nothing is more dangerous to personal freedoms than religious fundamentalism.
"do you want prisoners to not be able to gain qualifications?"
you:
"Yea i think thats a great idea"
it's not hard to assume the only yes or no question i asked in that comment would be answered with a yes (yea) or no.
it's all well and good saying "longer time" but for what types of offences? it all costs valuable taxpayers money, and so would more prisons which would inevitably be required.
i'm sorry you brought up a point that's easily debunked. you brought up new york; not me, so don't turn around and tell me to "Use your brain on the points at hand".
studies show that it wasn't giuliani's broken windows policy that lowered new york's crime rate - it was more police officers. other cities in the U.S - which didn't adopt the same plan giuliani did - also saw a reduction in crime rate during the 90s and 00s. that suggests to me there were other, more important factors at work than harsher punishments.
OK, you don't seem to want to stop crime if you don't want prisoners to gain qualifications. what do you think someone who's just come out of prison will do if they haven't gained anything in their time there? if they have put some effort into a qualification they at least have a much better chance of getting a decent job.
"Do you really think National will stop prisons from helping scum to get qualifications"
no, i don't think national's dumb enough to stop people from trying to turn their lives around (i hope). do you want prisoners to not be able to gain qualifications?
no, i do know the story. you've failed to make any points. i didn't say "national has no good points on education". we don't know what their points are because they haven't announced policy. people in prison have the opportunity to gain qualifications. tell me what national's plan is regarding prisons and how it relates to "teaching a man to fish". oh wait, you can't, because they haven't announced any policy.
teach a man to fish? what? everyone here has the opportunity to get an education. what does national do better? unemployment goes up during national governments.
My friend , i`m kiwi thru n thru,i mean u telling all to "wake up" , u "wake up to",we all grew up on meat n spuds, played bull rush, etc,In my opinion ( not shitting on anyone)Labour is the Option..and only.
Also,so if i vote National they gona Build them 30 MUCHLY needed Jails?,or perhaps 3 jails?Yeahh Right, and as for that xtra weeks Holiday,MATE it`s been a long time comming! To suggest Nationals any better, you MUST BE KIDDING!
Lifes to short for anycrap inbetween, I pay hi taxes -so what-cant take the money with ya eh? If those less fortunate get a better life because of this, then thats awesome . I think of others and so does Labour!
Ohh well , the Average Kiwi can see that Labour is doin a great Job, The need of the many out weigh the need of the few,I mean at the end of the day you cant please everyone.
Under Labour , kiwi`s get a xtra weeks holiday,ALSO, sick pay = Daily relevant pay,(average of last 20 days worked) Will Nat keep this if in ?? YEAHH RIGHTT,! Keep it goin Helen, and thank you.GO LABOUR
don brash will neva win becos his views are dictated by his religious convictions...newzealanders still want the bulk amount of benefits from the w.i.n.z department which only helen clark will keep
LOL that's so funny. Damn, I'm from Australia, and it sounds like there's serious problems over there. lol. Why do they keep voting for her if she's really that bad?
you fucked it up with the music buddy!

World papers- New Zealand votes in City assassin as Prime Minister
A multi-millionaire known as the smiling assassin during his career as an investment banker in London became New Zealands prime minister yesterday
John Key, 47,
He acquired his nickname after sacking dozens of employees during his time as a director of Merrill Lynch in Australia and Britain in the 1990s.

It can't be a money issue, that the office was closed as there is such a high percentage on petrol that the goverment is rolling in money
wow0really 3 years ago
how is it corrupt
maybe they're reducing bureaucracy
and uh i do get the feeling petrol tax isn't exactly the biggest source of revenue for the government
there are reasons for complaining about the price of petrol, but closing the serious fraud office isn't one of them

I know ive got him there,Strange how the lazy bastards can spend money when it pleases them but not on their kids.I dont care if they are yellow, white or brown,I cant stand pricks that smoke and drink and have Sky tv and then moan about paying for a doctor.
jurrassicsparks 4 years ago
"I cant stand pricks that smoke and drink and have Sky tv"
hmm nothing prejudiced here. wait, yes there is.
a doctor's bill of $25-$50 unexpectedly is hard for some people to pay. you know, like a family of five with one parent earning the minimum wage ($364.50 a week after tax). i find it amazing you don't accept this because most right wingers do and say it's bad but don't really want to do anything about it.
hftf1 4 years ago
Their fault for having 5 kids,no bloody brains. Why have 5 kids if you cant afford to look after them. They still smoke and have Sky Tv.I dont need your tampered statistics,I have eyes. You seriously should go to the Casino or are you in the Wairarapa too?
jurrassicsparks 4 years ago
"I have eyes"
fuck statistics and facts? geez, seriously? you go to a casino and from looking at people there, you jump to the conclusion that people (who might not even be the fucking same people) have sky tv, smoke, drink and don't pay for their kids to see a GP. where is the connection?
i don't need facts and statistics, MAN. i just KNOW those business roundtable secretly advocates using sweatshops. dude
hftf1 4 years ago
i should also point out that even if you were completely right, that people apparently can spend money on alcohol and sky tv but then refuse to spend money on a GP, how will national make it better? they want to make it more expensive. that is not spinned in any way. tony ryall said "i don't think new zealanders will mind paying a bit more to see their doctor".
if you were right, national would make even more people just go to the ER
hftf1 4 years ago
hmmm what
we have just a $200 million surplus now. that surplus was money that could never be spent on tax cuts because it was invested for the super fund. i've already explained that to you before but you haven't seemed to take it on board and instead continue to display amazing ignorance.

i will tell you they aren't facts because they aren't. are you telling me people at a casino are not taking their kids to their GP and that you know this for a fact? what's the connection between anything here?
what i would say is that maybe poor people are attracted to casinos in the hope of winning big. obviously most don't, but that's how casinos operate. maybe they want to win money so their kids CAN see a GP

hftf1 4 years ago
so you wouldn't have a problem with a higher tax rate for higher incomes (eg. 48c/dollar for incomes above $150,000) so that tax can be reduced or gotten rid of for lower incomes?
tax isn't punishment and like i said before, the dom post ran an article that said only 14% of nzers earned over $60k a year so in nz that's a pretty high income. at the end of the last national government that figure was 3% or 4%
hftf1 4 years ago
U used the public health system lately?
If my taxes are going to eduction and health then I haven't got value for money. Neither have the thousands of people who were waiting for operations but then got cut.

Give me back my taxes please. I'll pay for private health and education thanks.

Unbelievable.
malvadoburro 4 years ago
will you say the same thing when you're a superannuitant who can't get health insurance because he's thought to be too risky?
you clearly are unwilling to understand poverty cycles and utterly deserve to not have your opinions respected by anyone
some people probably do smoke, drink and then can't afford to pay for a GP. i will not contest that. to say all is stupid. to not understand that they need help, not to be shunned, is inhuman.
hftf1 4 years ago
I sympathize with superannuitants, they are treated like secondhand citizens here, they are treated unfairly and get a pittance, yes we agree on that.Thats why so many go to Aussie.I still say people that can afford Sky,gamble, smoke and drink have their priorities wrong.Children are first,Christ, why cant you agree with that or are you so ignorant. Its bloody education which they dont get from this government, its more important to learn culture than maths,ENGLISH,science.OH dont forget hip hop too.
jurrassicsparks 4 years ago
maths, english and science are all taught at school. so is maori culture. hip hop isn't. that was a wananga that did something a bit silly; not a government policy.
clearly people should spend money on GPs for their children before their smoking addiction or alcohol etc. however, repeated GP visits and prescription can get very expensive even for people who aren't extremely poor. i don't think you can fault people for having sky - it's a way to deal with being poverty stricken.
hftf1 4 years ago
that means make doctor visits cheaper (or even free), get people to quit smoking as much as possible. enjoying a few drinks (not excessive drunkeness, and not spending a ridiculous amount of income on it) and sky tv can be done. what are they meant to do all day? it's not like they can afford holidays.
hftf1 4 years ago
I live in Manukau. My sons visits to the Doctor are free, as are his prescriptions. Based on that, there should be no sick children in Manukau but there are. In my "hood" parents of deprived children sit on the front porch drinking and smoking all day. They have Sky T.V and BMW's with chrome rims parked outside their state house. I'm paying a mortgage, no sky, no flash car paying more tax each year. Excuse me for being disenchanted with the Welfare state.
malvadoburro 4 years ago
no sick children? uhh free healthcare does not mean no one will be sick. it's so that when people are sick they can get the healthcare they need.
and you're aware of loan sharks that charge ridiculous interest rates aren't you? you can get BMWs for a few grand or less off trademe. what should be done is make sure there aren't high income people in state houses stopping lower income people from getting in, if this is the case. supposedly national wants to do this, but so does labour.
hftf1 4 years ago
just so you know you too can get a loan from a loan shark to buy your rims and BMW if you want
and that's also only your observation. some of the houses you look at probably aren't even state houses.
what is it that you want to see done?
hftf1 4 years ago
Everybody managed without Sky a few years ago.Surely $60 odd dollars a month or $720 a year equates to a lot of doctors visits.Add that to $40 or so dollars a week for smoking and probably $80 dollars approx for drinking would be around $7ooo dollars a year and those figures would be very low with a lot of families.I have sky tv,spend maybe approx$20 per week on drink,I dont smoke and I have private medical insurance.I have to pay for the abusers through my tax.
jurrassicsparks 4 years ago
a lot people can't afford health insurance so they are looked after by the government. ideally no one should need health insurance.
dude $80 a week on booze is extreme especially if you're spending $20. what makes you think they spend so much more? and not everyone who can't afford their GP smokes and drinks to excess. also it's important to take into account that doctors are always an unexpected cost and hard to budget for. not all medical centres are free for children
hftf1 4 years ago
and aside from all of this, i wonder how many people do actually go to the ER instead of their GP. i have heard stories about it, but this was a few years ago and i suspect the number has gone down since doctor's fees have gone down.
hftf1 4 years ago
I really think you dont see the real picture. This is rife in Auckland.Have you been to Auckland Hospital lately? Its an epidemic. The doctors shout at people in the waiting room to go to a GP unless really urgent. Its not as wonderful as you think. Our health system is just about 3rd world.Spending $80 dollars a week on booze is nothing,I know a few dickheads that double that easily and they wonder where their money has gone.Try going to a pub around GlenInnes and see for yourself.Get experience.
jurrassicsparks 4 years ago 2
do you go there to auckland hospital all the time? if they have in fact spent all their money on booze and cigarettes, that still does not mean that they can afford their GP. quite the opposite. THIS IS NOT AN IDEAL SITUATION. they still deserve help regardless of whether or not they can pay. it might be they're not even aware when they should see their GP and when they should turn up to a hospital. what are these "dickheads'" incomes?
hftf1 4 years ago
you haven't even read the act. if you did you wouldn't understand it.
clearly because labour is behind in the polls the EFA is helping them so much. people against the EFA usually say "it's not money that wins elections; it's ideas - therefore the EFA is unneccessary". if this is the case, what is your problem with labour being able to spend more (which isn't true)?
the nz herald isn't gospel
and that's like the 4th time you've said you're not talking to me anymore.
hftf1 4 years ago
keep back pedalling there
finally admitted labour aren't "full blown commies"
i'm explaining so you fucking know
how is the tax system "commy"? national also advocates a progressive tax system (though slightly less progressive)
the EFA takes more than one comment to talk about. it helps people know who's campaigning for whom, and stops people with less money being drowned out by those with more.
the repeal of section 59 means children now have the same rights as animals under the law
hftf1 4 years ago
that's why they introduced working for families
though i think more needs to be done. tax relief and income splitting for families are options (in addition to working for families), but national aren't the type of party to do that (maybe more likely on income splitting, but john key said he doesn't think it's a good idea).
income splitting is generally a more right wing idea but i don't really see the problem if it helps people raise their kids. i guess it could discourage some ppl from wrking
hftf1 4 years ago
i'm not sure where you get bragging about your wealth (which in my mind is utter bullshit; i just can't bring myself to believe you're over 15 or 16) helps national's cause. you should be arguing reasons why national will benefit people (like, you know, people with mortgages and families, people who actually need help), not saying "i'm so rich so fuck you". it just doesn't make sense.
all it does is make it obvious you've got lots of money (cough) and you want more through a lame tax cut
hftf1 4 years ago
i don't think 50k is rich and i'm not sure where you get that the labour party thinks 50k is rich. the highest tax bracket is 60k.
helen clark earns what - 300k a year? if you have cars that cost that much it's very safe to say you are out of touch with most new zealanders because most new zealanders don't earn that fucking much.
a few months ago the dom post had an article where they said only 14% of people earn over 60k a year so compared to lot's of people that's lots.
38k is the average
hftf1 4 years ago
i really sometimes think you're a labour supporter and you're just trolling really hard

i think it important that it be recognised that this quote was rated down so it disappeared. it seems like some national party supporters have a bit of tall poppy syndrome. they couldn't bear the thought that you can have money and not be scum
hftf1 4 years ago
well national just came out against that research fund for the agriculture and food industries
that seems pretty anti business to me. they'd, of course, rather use that for tax cuts. fuck economic development, they say.
it is you who is killing business if you support national in this case.
i'm not sure how you think i'm "killing nz families", but i bet it's got something to do with not being a massive bigot and not hating gay people.
hftf1 4 years ago
ahahahaha you incredible idiot
you don't know what a communist is. communism is an economic system where the state regulates the whole economy. this means there are targets set by the government for each industry to meet (eg. how much bread is to be produced, how many shoes etc). the closest we've come to that was national under muldoon where you could be taxed 66c per dollar
new zealand, like all western countries, has a mixed economy. both labour and national support having a mixed economy.

if you're paying tax on $40k a year with a family of five, you're still not living particularly well. even if you're paying no tax at all that's $8000 a year per person. it's not a lot of money to raise a family with.
hftf1 4 years ago
how so? maybe you can explain. if tax there are tax cuts (which i think there is some room for) some people can be taken off working for families. the poorest people can probably receive less than they used to (but not much). under capitalism there will inevitably be rich people and poor people. what working for families does is try to make poor people a little less poor even if they didn't earn the money themselves.
hftf1 4 years ago
i realise govt departments cost money, but it's a cost that comes with helping people. but it's how it is; you cant not pay people to do their jobs to handle all the paper work that comes with working out how much each person is allowed to get. tax cuts might work for some, but for the poorest it doesn't because they don't earn enough in the first place. by products of poverty (crime, no education) are also things it's best to avoid as much as possible as a society.
hftf1 4 years ago
it's called being a decent person if you try to help families out of poverty
decency seems like a pretty hard concept for you to grasp
hftf1 4 years ago

"do you want prisoners to not be able to gain qualifications?"
you:
"Yea i think thats a great idea"
it's not hard to assume the only yes or no question i asked in that comment would be answered with a yes (yea) or no.
it's all well and good saying "longer time" but for what types of offences? it all costs valuable taxpayers money, and so would more prisons which would inevitably be required.
hftf1 4 years ago
i'm sorry you brought up a point that's easily debunked. you brought up new york; not me, so don't turn around and tell me to "Use your brain on the points at hand".
hftf1 4 years ago
studies show that it wasn't giuliani's broken windows policy that lowered new york's crime rate - it was more police officers. other cities in the U.S - which didn't adopt the same plan giuliani did - also saw a reduction in crime rate during the 90s and 00s. that suggests to me there were other, more important factors at work than harsher punishments.
hftf1 4 years ago
OK, you don't seem to want to stop crime if you don't want prisoners to gain qualifications. what do you think someone who's just come out of prison will do if they haven't gained anything in their time there? if they have put some effort into a qualification they at least have a much better chance of getting a decent job.
hftf1 4 years ago
"Do you really think National will stop prisons from helping scum to get qualifications"
