  • gilman is by far my favorite dive club, i guess its cool to see a big band come out of it.

  • Happened again... She walked away with her boyfriend... Maybe we'll meet again someday....

  • is that BLUE??!!??!

  • oldskull greennday! it's so fuckin awesome!!!!!!!

  • I think its okay that GIlman puts those limits.. I also think its okay that bands move on. No band wants to stay at Gilman forever, and Gilman wants to help up and coming bands.. it kinda works out that way.. I think people need to put it all in perspective. as a musician, i think ultimately you want to be successful, and as an underground club, ultimately you want to make yourself available to those bands who are at the stage where they need to play underground clubs..

  • Blue!!!! =)

  • So...these clubs basically prevent any and all success. Because let's face it, mainstream = the root of large success. Fuck that man...fuckin people were only trying to bring them down, more power to 'em for signing on to reprise.

  • it kinda sucks that the gilman kicked them out just because dookie was distributed by warner bros. who cares about that stuff!?

    86 :(

  • @TheJayman213 those were the rules Gilman had at the time. Dont get me wrong, I love Green Day. But there's no denying the fact that they sold out of the Bay area's punk community.

They were a part of it, they knew what they were getting into and they knew that they would be kicked out if they signed to a major label.

The whole point of clubs like Gilman is keeping the music underground and not letting become mainstream.

I never would have discovered Green Day if they hadn't signed to reprise

  • @Carniwhore77 I'm 15 and been listening to Green Day since i was 3 or 4 I have all the Green Day albums and like every song. And just started listening to AFI but I'm not one of these other pussy kids that only likes there new shit so don't think every kid is like that.

  • Berkley is my baby.....AND I WANNA KILL IT!

  • Badass!

  • I wish there was a club like this near my place. It would be so awesome.

But what hope do we have of more clubs like these coming out? Fucking CBGB's was closed.

  • @Junkpunker21 Move to Bristol in England. I have about 5 rock venues within 2 miles of where I live. Fucking insane.

  • i love how this video shows how crazy it was at Gilman Street. I wish I could've been there. (:

  • i wish i was born in that era..... ohmygawd whyd it stop playing halfway through!!!>>>> ohnevermind.....just read the sidebar

  • That's more like it!!!!!!!

    Unlike Green Day today D;

  • I love these guys so much!

  • This is an amazing clip to see.

Giman St was a great Punk club.

Shame Green Day were shunned by the Punk community after they went mainstream.

But I can see why the community would have feel cheated, they felt Green Day was their property in a way, not to be shared with the world.

Hell Green Day sold 70 thousand copies of 39/smooth and Kerplunk and that was to their friends alone!! o.O .. that's how popular they were.

  • @IfuckinLuvBillieJoe it still is a great punk club! :D

  • Film the fucking band dumbass

  • @HammerSmashedCat shut the fuck up dude u should be grateful this footage even exists

    fuck off

  • I will love U 4ever.

  • don't care if i sound jaded, but i'm one of those guys who got mad when the jocks at my high school started listening to green day. they were a favorite band of my peers and i in the punk & skate scene. it was weird to see them on Mtv for the first time. punk all of a sudden became a "cool" thing after that.

  • @jonasbjarki u siad it!!!

  • @jonasbjarki

ya man i know what you must have felt :P ive been raised by 2 punk rockers (my parents) and i grew up litening to exploited, joy division ,discharge and GBH......i really dig greenday and the whole 80s and 90s gilman punk scene...but i hate it when all these 13 year old wanna be fellas try to be cool by listening to bands like afi, greenday or the offspring....that makes me fucking sick!!!

  • @jonasbjarki I Completely Agree my friend said Green Day Sucked until She Found out How many people Liked Boulevard of Broken Dreams I felt like I almost punched her a year later when She said they went out of Style

  • @jonasbjarki Green Day is music not a style, who fucking cares who listens to them and for what reason, people from all walks of life can enjoy their music

  • Some people don't even know they were actually signed to Lookout! Records and they don't know that they actually performed at Gilman.

  • hey, so how did the VHS get into your box in the attic? Were you the one holding the camera? just curious. ive seen pics og gilman st but this is the first footage, its pretty amazing, thanks for uploading! x

  • @home340 dude I don't know you, but I will build a time machine with you because I want to go back in time so bad.

  • /haahahah definitely we should. I heard on the show UFO Hunters that Nazi scientist came very close to building a time machine.

  • Thats awesome wish I had one because Green Day now sucks compared to 1990-1998. They did play, "Going to Pasalacqua," on the New Years Show last night which I'm glad they're playing their good old stuff.

  • Was it something to miss? Because I don't actually watch tv anymore? Dude if we did think about how sweet it would be to see them before the internet word of mouth post on facebook and myspace were available for the whole world to see.

  • yeah agreed

i'd really like to see more old songs and less of 21cb in their setlist...

  • @home340 lol! i saw that i was think of going back to the 94 woodstock that would be so awesome i was change history and save mike from that dude that tackled him
